[hv=pc=n&n=skj8h84djt98754c4&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=3d(%3F)p3n4cpp4sp4n(*)p5cp5dppp]133|200[/hv] I held ♠Axxxxx ♥AKJx ♦Ax ♣T I figured that if GIB had the 5+ 8421 points required for his 3♦ bid I could make 3NT if he had a club stopper or the opponents didn't lead clubs. (presumably he had at least KJ-7th) LHO bid 4♣, p passed, RHO passed with ♠x ♥xxx ♦KQxx ♣Q98xx, and I decided to bid 4♠ instead of X (which I really hope partner wouldn't pull) Now partner bids blackwood, unsurprisingly. But I mouse over the 4NT bid and it's apparently blackwood for diamonds! I mouse over the 4♠ bid I just made and the explanation is "cue bid". What.
  2. oops, it was in the diagram initially south deals, NS vulnerable
  3. [hv=pc=n&s=saqj742hqj62dc432&w=s865hdkjt95ckq965&n=skt93hak543d6432c&e=sht987daq87cajt87]399|300[/hv] I note that this hand makes 7♠S, 7♣E, 6♥N/S, 6♣ W, 6♦W, 5♦E, but I find most of them hard to bid. Probably a fit-jumper's dream though :P
  4. [hv=pc=n&s=sqjt8hk82dcq98765&n=sa952hjdaqt842c42&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=1d3hdp3sppp]266|200[/hv] You may not agree with the bidding or the beginning defense, but here you are. East leads the ♣J, which is ducked all around. East continues with the ♣T which west wins with the ace and shifts to ♥6, which east wins with the ace. East now thinks for a while and plays the ♣K. West discards a heart.
  5. 3♥ 2♣ --> 2NT, borderline for me though
  6. It takes 6 bridge players to screw in a lightbulb- 1 to screw in the bulb, 1 to support his partner, and 4 to discuss it in the post-mortem.
  7. It was only played in 3NT= at one table I think, spade was probably led by west. Every other table played in 3♣=, don't know the auction. Anyway, I'm guessing most west players passed or opened 2♠, so the diamond situation isn't impossible to guess right
  8. yeah we bid it wrong, should have gotten to 4♥ easily, which happens to make we play a basic form of precision and the auction went: 1♣ - 1♦ 2♣ - 2♥ 2♠ - 3♣ 3NT all calls save the first two are natural. Should have been bid: 1♣ - 2♥! 4♥ 2♥ = 4-6 pts with concentration in the heart suit
  9. my partner regularly opens 9-counts with good distribution as part of our precision and "kamikaze" weak NT system and he wouldn't consider opening the south hand. Just my input.
  10. If lebensohl is on here, I guess a splinter in support of hearts? If not, it's a decent hand with diamond support
  11. [hv=pc=n&s=skj864haq8dj4ca82&w=saqt952hjt3dq763c&n=s3h9754dk9ckqj743&e=s7hk62dat852ct965&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=1sp1np2sppp]399|300[/hv] E/W play precision and therefore open fairly light, the 1♠ opening would be a bit sub-minimum. 1NT was forcing. N/S play 2/1. 3♣ was laydown if the ♦A or ♥K were placed correctly, and 3NT in the south turned out to be cold as the cards lay. 2♠= was a bottom. Assign the blame to N/S.
  12. [hv=pc=n&w=s72hqj9542djt8cj9&e=sat63hkdaq7cakt72]266|100[/hv] You reach 3NT in the east on an auction that marks east with a strong 4-1-3-5 or 4-2-2-5 distribution and west with weak hand containing a heart suit. South leads the ♦3 (fourth best) and North plays the 4.
  13. when slightly mis-defended, although all the plays were somewhat logical :P also this deal where east and south both make 3♠ [hv=pc=n&s=sjt765432h65432dc&w=shdt76532cjt97543&n=s9hjt9daqj984cakq&e=sakq8hakq87dkc862]399|300[/hv]
  14. P - 1♠ - 2♥ - X P - 4♣ - P - 5♣ probably my auction or east will bid 3♣ over 2♥ and west will make some strong bid, but they'll still probably get to 5
  15. This reminds me of that one victor mollo hand that HH went from 5♠XX to 6♠X to avoid a huge loss :)
  16. [hv=pc=n&n=st842hktdaq85cqt6&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=pp1h1sp(*)p4hppp]133|200[/hv] While I am ok with GIB not opening this pile of garbage, I think it should take some action over 1♠, since we have at least 23HCP. Even though X would show 4+ in each minor, 1NT and 2NT show full stoppers in spades, and 2♠ shows 3♥+, GIB should be able to stretch one of those calls in this situation.
  17. [hv=pc=n&s=sa8haj8762djt8ca4&n=st752hktdaq72cqt5]133|200[/hv] You're playing 4♥ as south on the auction, with north dealer: P - P - 1♥ - 1♠ X - P - 2♥ - P 3♥ - P - 4♥ - AP So west (LHO) overcalled 1♠. West leads the ♥5 to the 10, Q, A. You try a trump to the king and west shows out. Now what?
  18. [hv=pc=n&s=s4haq42da7cakq965&w=skjt32hkdkjt52ct3&n=sqht987653d4cj742&e=sa98765hjdq9863c8&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=pp(%3F%3F)1c1s2c(%3F%21)4s4np5cp6cppp]399|300[/hv] 6♣ made when declarer received a bit of help from the defense- GIB east discarded his heart on the second trump. Not my problem here. I am, however slightly irritated that GIB north raised to 2♣ with a 7 card heart suit (he can make a negative double). Also surprised east didn't open 2♠.
  19. 300% south, he probably screwed up the other boards too
  20. interesting, why would east ask for kings, and, upon hearing the "no kings, no grand" response, still bid 7? I think that east has a hand 2-suited in the majors and wanted to find out if west had the king of spades, and, upon hearing a lack of minor suited kings, decided partner has the king of spades. Since I don't think there's a point in leading a minor suit, I will try to lead a spade for partner to ruff.
