  1. yes, shortness is mis-descriptive imo
  2. 3♥ was obviously a psyche, I do that sort of bid all the time. They rarely double for penalty, and as you see here it trips them up rather badly.
  3. Win, spade to king, west ducks. Now you play the ♥A!, stripping west's only red card, and another spade. West wins but must put you back into your hand with 11 winners, and you can squeeze east. Or he ducks, you win the 9, and run clubs for the same squeeze.
  4. http://tinyurl.com/o2h453t Go to trick 6. I guess this happened because my 3♥ bid showed 15+ total points and therefore I had to have a club void?
  5. South bid and made 6♣ in a 3-3 fit after a bidding misunderstanding. Afterwards he remarked that there were was at least one other slam that was unmakeable. Construct a deal that fits the above, in addition to: -Minimizing the N/S HCP -Maximizing the number of unmakeable slams For example: [hv=pc=n&s=s65hakqtdaq43ckqj&w=skjh9876d987ca987&n=saq7432h2djt2ct32&e=st98hj543dk65c654]399|300[/hv] N/S have 28 HCP and can make 6♣ (even on the ♣A lead followed by another). In fact, every slam makes, except 6♠. But, surely, you can do better!
  6. [hv=pc=n&s=sk3hak5d8765432c7&n=sj92h43d9cakqjt92]133|200[/hv] South declares 6NT and can make 12 tricks against any defense. What are the exact east/west hands?
  7. 3♥ is a mini-splinter? 4♣, 4♦ I'm assuming are cuebids? What does 5♦ mean? As far as I know 5NT in this situation is grand slam force, asking for 2 of the top three honors in the trump suit. If 5♦ as well as 4♣ and 4♦ is a cue bid, 5NT as GSF is practically textbook here. 4NT as keycard with a void is frowned upon usually.
  8. [hv=pc=n&w=sqj43h943d95cakqj&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=p4ddp5cppp(%21%21)]133|200[/hv] Perhaps GIB was scared I would run to 5 of a major?
  9. Part two: [hv=pc=n&n=sk9hk95d85caq8743&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=1c1d1sp2c2d2hp]133|200[/hv] 2♥ is forcing, so just 3♣? or 2♠? or something else?
  10. [hv=pc=n&s=sat873hqj765dqj9c&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=1c1d]133|200[/hv] There will be a followup. IMPs
  11. west is about to discard, right?
  12. Yes but 1♦-2♣ is only forcing one round
  13. To get to 3♦ you must bid it over the double. GIB was fine
  14. [hv=pc=n&w=sq53hkqjdaq863ca8&e=skj62h8dktck76543&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=3h3np4cppp]266|200[/hv] 4♣ is described as "6+ C, 11- HCP, 12- Total Points" and that's only because it passed (east is dealer not south, sorry)
  15. You open a 12 point balanced hand the same way as a 16 point balanced hand? What on earth is your NT range? I agree with sfi. I would personally play partner to have more when nonvulnerable and less when vulnerable.
  16. yeah but the description is still 11+ HCP
  17. About halfway into a club game where there are 9 rounds, 3 boards per round, one table finishes up board 25. E/W move board 25 to the bottom and remove their cards from board 26, sorting them, etc. A few seconds later, North moves board 26 to the bottom and N/S remove their cards from board 27, sorting them, etc. On board 27, south is dealer and opens 1♣. West, holding the cards from board 26, bids 2♣, michaels, and north bids 2♦. East goes into the tank for about 30 seconds and then all the players realize at about the same time that the card backs are different colors. I assume it is appropriate to call the director? Who should call the director and what should the director do? I would put this in the simple rulings forum but there are followups depending on what happens next.
  18. [hv=pc=n&n=sahq965d2cqjt9543&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=1dp2c2s3d4sppdppp]133|200[/hv] GIB doesn't have the required 11+ HCP for a 2/1 (in its system), and with a potential misfit shouldn't it not force to game opposite what might be a minimum 4-3-5-1?
  19. If you want the strong hand to be declarer why are you advocating using a method to make the weak hand declarer?
