  1. I did that too in a swiss pairs, even with one round being like 4 precision openers I got 7 HCP on average. We won :)
  2. slightly worried if I respond 1♠ and partner makes a jump shift to 3♣ as he could have a hand too strong to bid 4♥ right away such as ♠ AQx ♥AKJT9xx ♦x ♣KQx where 4♥ isn't terrible (requires 3-3 spades or onside ♣A or doubleton ♥Q) but we might pass 3♣. but I do bid 1♠ as well even though I prefer to be non-vulnerable.
  3. good thing I play 10-13 NT, slightly easier after a 1NT opening by east :P
  4. it was the play that was interesting, not the lead :)
  5. [hv=pc=n&s=sakj7hkqjda8ckqt6&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=2cp3dp3np4hp]133|200[/hv] 3♦ is a positive response.
  6. [hv=pc=n&w=sqjt873haqt953d9c&d=w&v=n&b=12&a=1s1np3n4hp4s5cppp]133|200[/hv] This was in the local newspaper bridge article today. What would you lead with this hand? Also, would you have opened 1♠? 1NT is 15-17, opponents are fairly good.
  7. [hv=pc=n&s=sat98h632dj3cakqt&w=s643hqt98da964c82&n=skjhakdkq8c976543&e=sq752hj754dt752cj&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=1np2cp2dp3nppp]399|300[/hv] 6NT and 6♣ are both frigid. IMPs
  8. I'm not saying you're speculating. It's either mislabeled or the robot bid the wrong number of keycards.
  9. it's mislabeled because it has 1 ace and the king of spades but not clubs and it's showing an odd number of KC
  10. I only hate hands where I have a balanced 6-9 points and I don't get to bid much. So of course these are the ONLY kinds of hands I get.
  11. in the first post spades are trump because the even number of keycards is the ♠AK, can't be clubs @second post, having trouble understanding it, you were 1NT opener and the hands were something like this? [hv=pc=n&s=sahkt742dt964cat4&n=sk72h83dakqj2ck87&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1np2dp2hp3dp4dp4hp]266|200[/hv] that seems wrong and I think it's happened to me
  12. isn't 4♣ just an escape, showing no stoppers in one of the majors?
  13. [hv=pc=n&s=sqxxhk2dkxxcaqxxx&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1dp1sp]133|200[/hv]
  14. I believe that double is actually valid given the constraints of GIB (it has enough points and 2+ spades) even though it is extremely silly.
  15. is a 12-14 NT common where you play? I open 1♦ just because
  16. My vastly superior methods would have opened this 1NT and now partner knows roughly what I have and can assume the role of captain freely B-)
  17. lemee guess, partner has ♠KQJxxxxx ♥xxx ♦ - ♣Kx and both sides are cold for slam? I bid 5♠ but may double so they don't bid 6
