  1. hi free, Maybe a forumplace regarding everthing that concerns juniors and interested parties is a thing to consider. Maybe atracts some of these younsters that way to the forum, and get to know what they think/need and so on. those behind this idea let it know here and add your comments, if we coud get some space i woud be happy to post played hands(leaving the analisys to others) amoung other topics in there . Regards junior flight
  2. hi dean if u log chat u can retrieve your message in chatlog Rest of your ideas sound great
  3. hi jilly Thx for enjoying to watch our tourneys, im sorry to have to decline on your request( i get those a lot), we want to keep the private room restrict to juniors/coaches/teachers/mentors .Software doesnt have possibilty to lets say make someone kibitzer member, its all or nothing sofar. However we do try to provide regularly comments from experts also during the game, so any star on bbo willing to do that is most welcome on our weekly tournament to kibitz and comment on hands in play. Some deeper analysis/commenting& asnwering all juniors question is done after. Membership is growing fairly good, so we hoping we can provide our first lessons very soon, maybe some excellent players willing to help out (let us know)and mentor some juniors are most welcome too. From today tourney i can provide a link where u can find an excellent lesson/comment about discipline in bridge( thx michael lucy for providing hands today and webpage) http://4.14.62.98/HelenOnlineBI/discipline.htm Wanna thank also rich(reisig) and icey for the fun and good analysis after the tourney today, Thx a lot to all who make junior flight take his/her first steps, maybe some day we ready to fly, but only with your help . THANK YOU JR FLIGHT
  4. hi tdfriends& hi forumreaders, Seems impossible that on a worldly site as BBO no Experts (perfectly knowing how a tourney shoud be run /how issues shoud be dealt)are found to offer lesser gifted TDS a form of clinic . What woud this change for player/expert in question? Player/expert in question woud be apprecaited/thanked/praised/ground he/she walks on is kissed over and over again :o As im sure because BBOTDS still know the words THANK YOU.Expert woud not have the ability to write as much on the forum (maybe catch 2 flies with one blow :D ) What woud this change for BBO? Well, lesser forumtopics alias complaints/and wurse about TDS.Tourneys according to expertsstanding will approve in handling all there is to handdle.maybe we see the day a good/acceptable tourney is run on BBO.sarcastic) Seriuosly, all we asked long time deja is an expertstouch willing to donate some time and effort, believe me when i say to whoever takes this up, he will donate less then the average TDS on BBo yet he will gain respect, make a friend or 2 down the line, will receive gratitude in amounts he never held possible. marc P.S.loving my TD(vacation/resignation not sure yet).Maybe soon can change my skillevel to expert :) now my game has a chance of improving (maybe even change my name soon also :) ....... think i earned a vacation after a lot of tourneys ;)
  5. hi, ja ja ja. Like this. 1.Do not forget to log all chat. 2.Dont delete chatlog , save it in a diffrent folder when its full 3.dont forget to report all that needed to be reported to BBO 4.Do not forget to post tournament rules 5.Dont start hosting without mentorship 6.NEVER ADJUST WITHOUT SEEING A MOVIE 7. dont click calls away when u are afraid to go to a table 8.Dont go running when its a difficult subject(these are the times u can learn a thing or 2) 9.Dont bother other tds to do your work 10.dont sign up for mentorship when u only need others to do your work 11. Do not create tournements when u frequently dont show up 12.Do not give in to playrs asking u to upper your limit when u are alone 13.Do not change format of tourney prior to start 14.Dont be unfair 15.Dont try a speedball withhout having one td for every 10 tables(know this one from first hand  16.Do not forget to announce why time is added inside a tourney for one round 17.Do not lie on your tournament rules 18.Do not start a tourney 3 minutes before scheduled one and come asking me 12 minutes later "how do i adjust" "where is this" and so on
  6. hi gonna tell u one thing bout this and this is last i ever will. hard to consult a 25kg book when u are in a limit timespot to do so, easy to qoute some bookrules when u have time to look them up, just as easy as one has time to find the way to play an unmakeble 3nt . To give u an example, really really good players had a chance to play/comment/explain a 3nt after a prepared deals tourney. They found it , took about 17 minutes with 4 hands to look at. NOT ONE BUT ALL FOUR HANDS. ANOTHER THING, seen here and play in tourneys of CERTIFIED DIRECTORS. nO GARANTEE IM AFRAID . played in a tourney.partner and me waited for 14 minutes because one o was offline, we didnt get an A+ , we didnt got a sub(td was afraid they scream at td again) still have the full log of if where the CERTIFIED TD said after ."ok im certified and real live events gives me no problems but onlne i cant do anything right". I was when hosting INPERFECT , yet i tried to be.I took every avaible test online/offline, i study 1.5 hours a week on rules NOT TO QOUTE BUT( man , thats easy when u got time ), BUT TO KNOW THEM/UNDERSTAND THEM/BE ABLE TO APPLY THEM. i think i saw a lot of things pass the revue, in the 500 tourneys i hosted in my name and the even more i helped others. yet we dont seem to please some here, btw THESE CHARACTERS HARDLY EVER PLAY A TOURNEY,if u want i name names , ok and i give dates with it.BECAUSE i kept track of not only the spychic bids in my tourneys. u make a lot of issues/critisise/hurt ppl that are donating time for your pleasure.Try them out, just the same i gave everybody a chance. If u dont like them, pffffffff there are a zillion more tourneys. I for one cant play ACBL events where i am not allowed to open bidding with hands where i think i must open bidding with, my solution. : avoid those tourneys. What i dont get in all of this. ALL ACCEPT STUPID RULES A ORGANISSATION MAKES YET WE ARE NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT A TD ON BBO WHO MAKES HIS OWN RULES, SO WHEN VATICAN CITY(7 registerd bridge players) SAYS "WE DONT OPEN BIDDING IN FIRST SEAT WITH 30 HCP BECAUSE OPPS MAY SUFFER FROM THE INJUST DIVIDING OF HCP" U ALL AGREE. pfff i see in other replies u quote other sports.Well , hear hear i was proffessional in 2 sports before i coud write the word bridge. SOME FOOTBALLLOVERS AMOUNG US WILL REMEMBER "SOMEONE`S HAND OF GOD" WICH GAVE A NATION THE WORLDCUP FOOTBALL/SOCCER. WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG, screamed the whole world , about this cocaine addict(not proven at that time) yet a whole nation was celebrating and nothing was done, the whole world was swindled it seems and the most popular sport federation did nothing about this injustice seen by 750.000000 ppl. U NEED TO REALISE ONE THING , WHEN U ARE PLAYING A TOURNEY, THERE IS A DIRECTOR, AND THAT DIRECTOR IS ALWAYS ALWAYS RIGHT (EVEN WHEN WRONG).if u got some common sense u try to improve his/her way of thinking so he can laern, dont hurt ppl donating their time for the pleasure of others . but why am i trying to change minds when in every sport all arbitrator are the devils and the gamers without fault. help them, just help them, improve their knowledge of the game and thank them once in a while for their stupidity to even try this unthankfull job, well ist not a job. Its "stank voor dank". Marc P.s last thing i ever wrote about TD online . all my futher things( about beeing td/what it means/what u encounter/what others expect of you/what gratitude thier is to it) i got to say will be to tds only, yet whenever i host(if ever again) im open to positieve cristisisme and chats to improve skills/knowledge) "de beste stuurlui staan aan wal" suits unfortunaly a lot off ppl on the forum, go figure. "hoge bomen vangen veel wind" appies to to those tds in the frontline. to all those tds out there,i know a lot of you, nobody says thanks to you, but here is a very BIF , FAT , THANK YOU, probaly jesus had all of u in mind when he said "forgive them , because they dont know what they are doing:)". fouad, my dear recent friend on BBO, u know my door is open.Good luck in your effort to provide all of us with your tournaments. greetings/love marc
  7. hi, let me give u some insight how i handled this, undos were off in my tourneys till i got a private request from someone that made a misclick(only bidding , not for play), then i went to the table, modiefied the tourney, let "miscliker" ask an undo(ppl never rejected cause td was there) , they went back and started over again. Same i did when ppl complaint when bidding was still going and someone made a to late explanation, example 2C presision when opps thought it was strong and when bidding was almost over the explanation came(smart huh) director can never rule after because he only sees the explanation not the time point when it was made. What happen couple of days ago was me same as gweny testing with "allowing undo" in full.Sad to say some ppl do not understand this and think when its allowed it shoud always be granted(for the record i always accept undo and i feel all shoud do the same but who am i to judge this?).Its in BBO rules somewhere and my rules where to be seen as an special adding to those rules , so on top of BBO rules there where mine
  8. hi, yes , agree with this. However in tourneys after a request is rejected we see huge fights going on.Today the requester , after not receiving his undo opend bidding next hand with 7nt and left the tourney, return after one minute(hoping he was subbed at the time), refused to play futher. I call yellow, he took note , i adjusted , subbed player out , made him black till he apoligies to me.But you see world isnt perfect  some ppl still want to gain in ways outside the table. Another negatieve sideeffect of allowing undos is that tournament chat is open for all, u see after pairs have completed they start comenting their last hand when others are still bidding it, i wish the undo and tournament chat were seperated options so tds coud choose one or the other or both or none. spwdo
  9. Thank you very much Helene! I am happy for expert understanding B) ! Need to say, that I have been told by Marc, playing in abalycy tourney to message before each bluff. I of course didn't do it (law of duplicate bridge is first, directors are second), but bluff one time. Opps asked director and I have been warned by him! So, as you can see, it is not rumour, but fact! Probably will be good idea to talk with your own directors, about level of competition in abalucy and what that mean for them. I agree with doofik that handle psyches is not for novices and probably for her is better to play in BIL, instead of abalucy, where hunt cruel bluffers like me :D . Hi Uday! BBO is private and I understand rights of owners to do what they like here, include your right to enforce own opinon of bridge expert and experienced director to all members of BBO. You only don't have rights to change law of duplicate bridge by own opinion and still call game "Bridge", online or not, untill WBF/ACBL didn't do it. I am a bad boy again :D . I respect your work with BBO software very much, you are great programmer, thank you again! Misho hi Misho, When u read this topic carefully u will see NOBODY is saying that psyches have to be prealerted except for the director that got this topic started.I DID NOT tell u to message before each bluff, i ask u to inform td that u had , it was claerly announced that this was policy , as claerly as helene put this out again. 4.INFORM TD WITH PRIVATE MESSAGE AFTER MAKING PSYCHE BIDS this is my own rule for tourney, some similar rule excists obvuiosly for abalucy. I understand this topic causes a lot of emotions , what doesnt help is when ppl start misquote/misunderstand and so on, your firist answer to me says already Misho that u found/find messaging a td is waste of your time. So please as fairness to me,private club and yourself, do not give others another impression than the facts really occured that day.I told u to inform me and that MCSD announced it to what u replied, somany messages i didnt read them. READ POLICY helene wrote, u qouted and i qouted again, i remind u of that.Since u tolk me u didnt read announcement/rules i thought a warning woud help so next time announcement woud be read by player in question. Marc p.s. IM ONLY REPLIYING TO THIS TOPIC YET IM STARTING TO GET BLAIMED/TALKED OFF/QUESTIONED/AND WURSE FROM SOME.THESE BIDS ARE ALLOWED IN EVERY TOURNEY I HOSTED/HOST/WILL HOST , ALL I/WE ASK TO BE INFORMED AS TD WHEN U USE THESE BIDS.READ FOR A CHANGE WHAT I SAY AND NOT WHAT U THINK I SAY,fat change as hardly a soul reads tourneyrules and or announcements i know, sorry using capps, im getting emotinionel i think over the replies pointing to me.
  10. I play in a number of the tournaments in question, and, believe it or not, I tend psyche on occassion. In many cases, this leads to an altercation during which some aggreved players tries to win in committee what he couldn't achieve at the table. From my perspective, the "appropriate" way way to deal with these sorts of problems is to educate the player who felt victimized. Case in point, playing in Walddk's 2/1 Individual yesterday, the auction started P - (1S) I held (roughly) xx x AKQxxx xxx And chose to bid 1N The final auction P - (1S) - 1N - (P) P - (2H) - all pass The opps made 2H+3 and LHO went into conniptions. From my perspective, the Director handled this call very well, explaining (a) Psyches are perfectly legitimate (:D Its damn hard to claim concealed partnership understanding during and individual © Here is how the bidding should have gone to expose the psyche I agree that Directors have the right to run games as they see fit, providing they disclose these agreements in advance. However, spwdo is going beyond this and promoting this system as the right way to deal with psyching. From my perspective, the structure that he is proposing is actually damaging the playing environment by providing a psychological crutch for the "Oakie"ites. hi, I dont have any critics on how this was handled or this bid in particuallary. Again i dont see a harm in informing a td when u spych besides the fact there is something to hide. Questioning my crediantials is fine, not defending myself on this one. I have had calls from players(damaged from a psych) asking an adjust when a spych gone wrong and "damaged" players had a perfect result. Calls from players insisting an alert of a psych since it wasnt natural, long discussions and so on.Very helpfull it is when u saw bid in an aerlier stage before u are called to the table when a fight is going on. It doesnt change a thing about the frequentcy or use about psych bids except maybe those doing this very very frequent become maybe somewhat cautios. Think most agree a spych isnt a spych anymore when partner is aware of what is going on. Example 2♣ opener 2♦ p p(with close to opening hand and 5+♦) happend twice in same tournament, looked up prevuios baords of those players and it happend again(other bid but similar in a way) in another tourney where after the "psch" p with support jumped , was dbl and they went down terrible. Im not suggesting it shoud be alerted, banned. ITs fun part of the game,i use these bids when i think there coud be a gain from it, i just inform td with a private mess. I like to be informed so i can learn along the way when others bid this and why,how can u improve knowledge when u dont know what is going on. This is very difficult area to be always right. Whenever a complain is coming up i always start with "spych bids are a perfectly ligit part of the game as long as u lie to the whole table and not only to opps" Guess no td has ever ruled against a pysch in an indy(again i can be wrong). Till today i only ruled twice against psychbidders and they agreed in both cases it was illegal themselves. Marc
  11. hi, thats the main idea, nothing more to it.Keep track off number of psych, trying to get some sort of grip on who/when/why and sorting out illegal psychs. Dont seek more to it, is a fine rule and it works. Btw, same rule apllies in qualifiers tourneys, bridge too far, culbbarran, the climb and several others, too long list actually to give them all and this rule is impleted more and more.Sorry to say i came up with it :D . Mainly done in tourneys where a some players have no clue and start calling like crazy and a discussion that can last a tourney about these bids, at least we are ahaed of the complaners. Highere level tourneys do it for the reason Ben pointed out so nicely. Spwdo
  12. hi, in a small field like abalucy i woud not like to think that whenever a td comes to a table u woud expect every time he does so it woud be spych. Further if he comes at all(he can check that baord whenever he wishes even long after that particularry baord is played). thirdly, woudnt checking all kibitzers out during bidding not be a "concentration &timeloser". Fourth (temposloser???) How about when u are called to the table and having a discusion about a pysch or a farfeched non alert or falsecarding. Is easy rule, u make your psych, u send private message to the td before your next turn of bidding, u dont lose pace whatsoever . spwdo
  13. hi, Is it that boring and so much to ask when u private to a td "spych"???????Losing concentration ( five letter word to typ). Td can come to table , check it out note it and thats it.But i guess this comes down to yet another story of demanding a lot yet willing to give nothing. Fot the rest said here, has been propossed from someone else if alerting psych woudnt be a great idea  guess this td dont read the forum.Either u cant handle them/dont understand the concept and i think its better to ban them but this rule is a joke. If u will be so kind to send me TD username i will have a chat with him just like i did with the other td( he actually coud laugh after we talked) He had obvuiosly heard of psych but he felt one coud not lie to opps with bidding(after he been explained that psych means lieing to partner as well he changed his point of view) Another case i feel of Td new to hosting without prior knowledge of some basics, all these things are discussed somewhere but like players hardly ever reading rules new tds with a few exceptions are not going to use all work/effort done by other tds(TD_101, minutes of meeting, adjutment clinic, mentorship e. o) Its all there, why not make it obligated for new tds to go thru some kind of training? Woud stop maybe some fighting between 150 tds finding a spot in europa`s evening while its hard to find a tourney in the US evening(maybe we need some US based TDS and nomore in europes evening(rather less). spwdo
  14. hi, first say marc please if possible when something is directly addressed at me. second.I just want to claerify that first i dint read the second post of nobutter prior to asnwering. thirdley, is easy to explain this when u rule when u dealing with players knowing the concept, if we dealing here with smart ppl, all he had to do was wait another minute , say to the room "thinking" and his partner for sure woud enter bidding. I deal with a minor % of ppl insisting spych bids have to be alerted, bid like crazy to not miss anything, leave when they down 3/4/5/6 and more. I just say that i woud open conversation first asking "why" this bid, if this is UI,not questioned it isnt but dealing with this because i know what can happen(some ppl go to the xtrems when they dont like a rulling that is claer but not know to them) . So UI it is, what can the player say for himself , when u ask why this bid? probaly nothing and he ignores you or a lame excuse after wich u have to make an unquestionable adjust because he gonna make in whatever he says or doesnt say a claercut case for the td. Im not questioning the case im just thinking after the cold/not understood from this player adjust, things to consider for me, not things to consider from a players view i agree. marc
  15. hi woud be nice jack ,woud like that spwdo
  16. Neat idea. The only drawback is being able to see the movie when you call the director (or send the director the movie -- though that could, I suppose, be done at the end of the round). as long as there are points in there and movie displayed they will cause some players to review their baords, if want take steps there , make movies avaible to players after tourney is finisched off course tds need to see both table and player movie, but dont see it as large problem, have to speed them up, if they get movie one round later those doing that will be looking at movie then. Several tourneys are strict upon time, but u can understand that we add one minute when 25 tables are playing, if we dont this means 25 adjust. need 10 tds then. No adjust means players letting clock run out when they are down, personally i think why bother to host then(because they like to play and if needed adjust their own baords?=happend to me couple of times, but it was stated in rules so no problem with it) spwdo
  17. Hope you are not complaining about me. I directed tournaments just few times. I'm not so experienced. Please tell me, if I did something wrong. I'm trying to do my best. sincerly ALBRECHT hi not about you. I think we talking here about someone we over and over ask not to do these kind of things, most new tds when they host first tournaments and unaware about schedule are explained schedule need and /provide the link to the schedule . This is so much more then just delibartely trying to get credits for things he asks others to do for him. spwdo
  18. yes isnt that tablefairness? wasnt ment as replie on you mc bruce but since u think it is.Im just saying and meaning what i say.I played online in certified td events where it was obvuis that they had a lot to learn, i saw here every td almost beeing questioned one time or the other ,certified /non certified all been questioned i was not saying that td shoud done this or that. i just saying that i needed to have more info that given here before i decide and that is wasnt a claer cut case as luis pointed out . As for those rules i was talking more about alerts and all cause i replied couple of times in that topic started by clausdenmark,(sorry confused a bit) laws of duplicate bridge are healthy guidelines to follow. I didnt deceided either way on this and my tablefairness wasnt appying upon what the td ruled in this case.Again i need all info and probaly have to be in there myself to see if this was really a claer cut of UI. marc
  19. hi, seeing a lot of things not to my personal like lately. Everthing started from some tds is beeing copycat from someone , hosted just before/after every similar event. Happend to junior teammatches, happend to a td that started up a tourney restricted by language. Is it allowed from bbo to let someone fragmetise everything already on BBO.Or do we feel we shoud support someone starting up something new. We do alot of effort in rounding up right ppl to make something, a lot of work goes prior before we even start doing something, and after we did it twice we see a copycat who creates/put togheter something that sounds similar (and naggs others to do his hosting) but in fact isnt BUT it still fragmetise everything we do. Overlaps from someone that has a private club while in fact hosting regulary open tourneys (always a mistake, and a lot of sorrys and haerts are send after) It gets to me, all are free off course to do what they like but maybe im evenly free to , can someone explain me while majority of tds try to provide a full schedule wich woud benefit all while some just do things as they see fit and dont care/respect others their work .
  20. hi, We seeing a lot of critising towards tds these days, critising in a positive way is a good thing , but straight forward attacts/insults/disrespect shoud be avoided if possible. i very much welcome the thing u did ben and thx for it in name of tds, and sorry to those tds having to go thru that. Many seem still to forget that we are dealing here with volunteers donating thier time. Maybe one whole day no tournaments on bbo woud show all bbo members what a miss it is. BBF simply hasnt enough space to name all horrible things that are/have/will be said against tds, and we always have to remain calmness, decide/rule in a perfect way.So some are asking we are without mistake. This been told long time from me and others but some things on BBO are not improving and one of this is behavuior in general, sad but thru. Hope we go back to the times when a player said "thank you " after a tourney, happens still but not much these days:( BBO TD FRIENDS
  21. hi, well not sure bout this .knwing some laws/wich laws?? acbl?? uk rules?? still doesnt mean anything, know several uncertified tds doing a good job based upon experience and tablefairness and im very sure certified tds in real life have a lot to learn when they start hosting online. In this case its not 100% for me. Maybe to a wordclass player its obvuis. Maybe player in question wanting to push opps into game, if u td one u see a lot of weird bids, some are questionable to say least, some are puur casino players. bidding whatever they "hope" for and if go down u see 2 red dots , this happens in pairs tourney, so for sure in indy. With this all said and done, i woud first talk to player in question asking WHY he bid this way. How did the rest of the bidding go, what contract/result was reached? all things to consider i guess. And it is always another story when u are involved yourself, pressurre/other calls/adjust to be made and so on. Not easy beeing a td.And this is we all agree i think a long story/discussion when it is happening. Can only say what i think i woud do. spwdo
  22. hi, how can u based upon time, its always one word against the other, and sure there are tds that rule if they witnessed it, know i woud if i was sure this was not stuck or disconnected player spwdo
  23. guess we have to hope a friendly "terminator" will come and rescue us misho:D seriuosly in this case how else can they decide, i use to send uday 25 names a week of intentionel/non intentionel/laevers after bad baord and so on players. To many tds probaly did that , one man alone cannot handle this.So i m behind this improvement spwdo
  24. hi, knowing miss blue and culbbaran myself(they actually do a very good/professional job) those dougbthing this shoud read they tourneyrules, wauw what a work. But doggie u have a point and maybe gwen is on to something. We give with an occasional exception only one xtra minute first and last round. problem is that some players only start slowplaying when they are down, they still do it cause it payed off for a long time. All we tds can do about it is adjust those baords and warn those players, i have several douzens of players warned for this. Most seem to take this but every day new ones arrive not knowing this. hosted a speedball once , was still adjusting 15 minutes after the tourney, all played fast enough till they were down, taking the better A- for them, not fair, in fact trying to chaet i think of it, we can only try and stop this, maybe asked miss blue what happend, you ll get a nice answer marc
  25. hi i hope i once can ask u uday to create this for junior flight purposse, shoud mean we have large nations teams willing to play against one and other, dont see it beeing used frequently elsewhere(sometimes hard to find 8 playres for a teammatch well not these days anymore with the tourneybarred players spwdo
