  1. Hi Uday - I hope I have understoood you correct this time. Here my proposals. Regarding private clubs ability to switch table between teaching mode and normal play mode ability to load a convention card to a table in teaching mode a direct button to partnership bidding tables an option to put partnership bidding tables in teaching mode ability to play a loaded card file in full length option to display online club members in lobby similar to friends option to send messages for all online club members outside club area ability to create simple sign up lists(for polls, tournaments, interests, partnerships etc.) ability to display some club info before persons apply for membership a hands on manual for handling of lin-files Regarding the connection: Private clubs and tournaments ability to create invitional tourney's securing all guests(individuals or members of another club or different parts of a club(fx.Exotic club: Polish vs. Precision) to meet pairs from the club. I assume the most simple way for that will be to create the number of team matches from sign up lists of 2 connected pair tourney's. As far as there are enough sign ups for both lists the number of team matches to be created. Rest of the field will then play a small pair tourney enable a pair tournament creator to have 2 connected and pending tourney's(events) at the same time Regarding tournaments restrict submitting empty convention cards ability to make convention cards mandatory let server propose substitutions and for TD to accept or correct or cancel ability to load additional description for a tourney(conditions of contest) ability to switch pairs in team tourney's after 1/2 of the deals a prompt to all players in a team tournament that it is created and ready to start in ??minutes ability to display victory points in tournament result ability to sign up for partnership desk using ID with more than 8 characters
  2. I have understood you in that way Uday that you asks for suggestions for software modification for how to handle tournaments for private clubs. I have therefore also assumed you were not asking for ideas for handling tournaments or private clubs individually but only the relation between those 2. If you are asking for ideas to handle those not related to each other - I think the biggest problems are in handling the private clubs in the way they are intended to be used. That means administrative procedures and features for teaching mode tables.
  3. Very good idea Uday! If A, please let server suggest the name of a red ID We have had some private correspondance regarding invitional tourneys. I will be ready to find other ways than I have already used for describing the aim and the proposal. I think there are more than one possible solution and I think it will be a pity solely to focus on how to exclude people. I would prefer thinking the other way around - how to meet other people. As I have understood, the private clubs are a tool for improving skills of people sharing something special to prepare for testing the outcome in competition with others from other clubs or just guests.
  4. Thank you Ben! I see I need to put 1 deal into each file only. Pity - what we really need is the ability to put partnership bidding tables in teaching mode or better the other way around. What I really need is that NS in teaching mode always has bid-able hands. The other features would be nice of course - but I will be able to manage without. The ability to replay a log-file in standard or teaching mode is an option on ZONE. As BBO has programmed ZONE I assumed this feature would be available here too and that it was only me as a poor novice who failed.
  5. Maybe somebody at this thread can help me. I can only load 1st deal from a file to a teaching mode table. When I redeal system switch to random deals. Do I really need to prepare so that only 1 deal in each file?
  6. Whereever you find any kind of violation or tendencies to violate human rights you will find me on the side of those suppressed. Right now we talk about women - what and who next? As Fred rightly pointed out there is a very big difference between the italian language and italians(the people living in the country Italy). To overcome the italian language is not a matter of principles and deprivation of rights - it is a practical matter. That is acceptable I think but it will not be acceptable to restrict for only swedish language due to the fact of easy understandability of norwegian and danish language. As I remember you are belgium citizen - how about a restriction only to accept the people living in flamish part of your country? And it will not be acceptable either to restrict for italians - then you dont pay attention to the Balkan geography and history - nobody wants to have that repeated I think. To look away from human decency in smaller matters is a dangerous sidetrack nobody of us knows the end of. Therefore the borderline is not the matter but the principle.
  7. Right - and you still have several situations in societies discriminating against women - think about religion and I think you will have no problem to see the cruelty in your argument. From the old days you still have reminiscenses of discrimination - in the world of bridge too - but that's in no way an acceptable argument to create new deprivations. Please let those heading for a revival of our cruel history alone!
  8. Sorry I dont understand your words - my english not good enough! But the links seems working correct: http://www.mywebsearch.com/jsp/GGmain.jsp?...egames%2ebridge
  9. I am sure you have noticed Fred that only a very small part of the users of BBO are posting anything here. Therefore BBO Forum is not representative for what the users are thinking. The hard and important decisions to make are the moral ones. Thats also those issues with only 5-6 persons involving themselves into. For bridge hands etc. it is more - but no more than 15-20 persons regularly uses BBO Forum for exchange of views. 3 persons have made approx. 1/4 of all postings and 10 persons half of all postings. Language is a major hinder for very many - and I have asked some why they never look into here. They tell me it is a small club discussing topics of no interest to them and a little more I am not sure whether I should tell here. As you are the owner, the right - and obligation as well - to make the decisions is yours and yours alone. No doubt! Maybe a broader basis for advises might be helpful to you. As this topic is an example of - technical solutions have a big impact on how individuals behave themselves.
  10. I have understood it was some kind of a test. But a test without data is no test. - Maybe it was not meant for us to test but only for John - then OK I think. But I have understood much more features to come - sounds very nice and positive but worrying too. The more features available - the more knowledge needed to handle. The more knowledge needed to handle - the more knowledge of skills in english language needed. And that we know for sure is really scarce among BBO-members ei. the users of BBO-Forum and the new site. Lately we have seen many new facilities on BBO and many of those seems to aim flexibility. Fine with that - but....... A few days ago Fred and Uday found themselves confronted with a nasty option: To exclude women. The other site of flexibility is segregation. Segregation ought not to be something to head for in an international get-together.
  11. I cannot figure out what quick and dirty means. Thats not a term I am familiar to. To me it looks like the postings here are not updated at the new site. Looks like all are copied switching to the new site. The new site seems rather complicated to use and is not for computer novices. Hope very much you will not be disappointed - more features available means mostly you loose several of the users you have in mind to do something good for. I have already ran into several features telling me nothing available and nothing to be found - and there were no help offered. Take really good care John!
  12. YES - you are right! But of course more of that kind to come. Tourneys for americans only, for all but israeli's, or catholics, for children, for lovers of cats, for people using glasses - you name it! Right now we have restrictions not to use your national system and only for acol-players I have seen. All kind of small groups will try to exclude others. Of course some too will try to meet others - but thats another story I think. Such never ends! You have made it very easy to exclude others. The tool you are using - private clubs - are really hard to use for their original intensions. Both of these are counting.
  13. POP Swatter POP Swatter came to me as one of those annoying pop-ups informing me that they could help to get rid of such! And yes they have - pop-ups are now killed by me! I am no longer disturbed by those sites I need to close before I can continue. I still have "http//0-00......", but that harms nothing and can be closed at a for me conveinient time. Whether that can be killed too - I dont know. But it looks like there are several kind of settings I havent looked into yet. The annoying and disturbing pop-ups I no longer have! http://image.imgfarm.com/images/installer/popswatter/ps_header.gif http://es.optimost.com/es/24/c/14/u/pop-swat_burst2.gif
  14. Play it if you like - no problem with me! But unless you have a loaded informative cc you will not get away with that information with me as opps.
  15. Sounds very interesting Richard! We are running our own team ladder too simply because I dont know Abalucy and I have seen no postings inviting others. I have set up a tournament area and nobody seems interested or all the teams from the polish tourney has shut down. I dont know. We want more matches on a regular basis and to have that we now need to register for the Ladder on ZONE - Rays Bridge Ladder. That was not the intension from the beginning - but as it seems like those few teams who might be existing are afraid of competition or are unable to administrate themselves - it is needed to find teams ready outside BBO - pity. I am unable to see how web-sites can substitute what we want to use our private club for. Todd have made a point simply to let the BBO client communicate with info - memberlist or so - on public web-sites. I think that sounds more easy that it really is - but maybe that suggestion might lead to a good solution. I think it would be wise that some of us who want to create something tried to do something together instead of not communicating and then do our own things. That will only lead to that others will need to find their partners for cooperation outside BBO too.
  16. This time NO Ben - my comments are based on written conversation with Fred! I have many applicants to the club and I think they expect to be a member of Precision Team or Precision Tournament Group by clicking apply for membership of the club. But they are not - more is needed. I have the same problem I think you have discussed with Maureen. To accept applicants or decline. Communication with them is impossible - they are offline when I enter and I only have their BBO-nick. Guesst-memberships not possible. I cannot see who will be our guessts and who want to join. To be clear if I want to use the club to restrict for tournaments - I need to assign all persons signing up for a limit period as guessts. And after the tournament I can delete all sign ups for that period. I can do so - but I am reluctant because my priorities certainly are to help those who want to join our Precision initiative. I also would like to be able to secure that all guessts will meet Precision pairs else it makes not much sense. I can do so by setting up as team-matches but that is also a complicated procedure The option for club-communication is not clear either. Private clubs are not aimed for restrictions to tournaments but they can be used for that. The Private Club area is much older than the tournament area.
  17. yes Ben - maybe I am not clear. I fear the only thing we can use our private club for is to restrict access to normal tournaments in the tournament area. And that is neither what private clubs are created for nor what I intended to use ours for. Please let me interpretate some info from Fred - they are for a group who has something in common can study without interference from outsiders and when they are ready they invite guessts for testing. Both are needed. The clubs are not for some persons to exclude themselves from others and just live their own life. The group must show interest to interact with people doing different things - systems, sort of conventions, language etc. But how to handle - how to create tournaments in private clubs?
  18. Right Ben - I have asked Fred but no option for that right now. I have uploaded info but only after membership - you will be able to see that info. Maybe it is needed to create a public club to publish information about the private club? There are much I would like to do in our club "The Precision Team Bridge Club" but information is not available. We would like to run invitional tournaments there - but I cannot see how. I really fear we will need to use it for restrictions to tournaments - but that was not the intension and not what I have agreed with Fred. Anybody able to help with informations about how to handle a private club?
  19. Hi Maureen! I don't know what your members are interested of - but if I can be of any help to you - I will be ready! Just tell me - you now know Messenger is easy and effective communication - so please don't hesitate! I cannot help you with bridge based on classic standard(acol,2o1,sayc etc.) but regarding artificial bridge systems - I will be ready any time. I had made a set-up for team-matches for your members - but nobody seems interested. If the interest is there now - we can just start Basic League. It is still there(pages just hidden but not deleted): http://groups.msn.com/Tournament/basicleague.msnw We are running APTAP: http://groups.msn.com/Tournament/f1.msnw - and I will be ready to do more of that kind - if other strong teams will be ready! Else a handicap tourney makes no sense! Those of your members who like to play Precision will be welcome to join Precision Tournament Group - I will gladly modify the rules for joining - they are right now assuming only experienced players to join. As soon we have some more info from Fred about how to handle private clubs in a decent way - I have agreed with Dwayne that we will organize some invitional tournaments. If your members want to meet Precision pairs for friendly competition - your proposals will be very welcome!
  20. I prealert in this way over table: !C!D!H!S!C!D!H!S!C!D!H!S!C!D!H!S!C!D!H!S!C!D!H!S!C!D!H!S!C!D!H!S!C!D!H!S Claus Sønderkøge. I live in countryside – Island of Mors – near the Northsea. ALERT! WE play PRECISION CLUB. 1!C=16+ else limit openings – most 11-15. Convention card(cc) is up and you will have more info here: http://groups.msn.com/bridgeFILES/intro.msnw – Welcome and good luck! Sad to say - nearly nobody is interested to be informed - but I have done my duty! I think you are right not to use such kind of openings against pairs not prepared for that. And in main bridge club - you will have very hard times to find pairs who will be ready to play more than a few hands against such weird openings and expected continuations. Todd Andersen announced yesterday he would organize some tourneys for such and where standard classic systems were not accepted. Precision Team Group will soon organize some invitional tournaments where you will be welcome to play your full register - and we will love you I promise!

  24. I dont know which name you have chosen - so I am unable to check whether you have signed up. For you using english it is not so difficult - just press the join now button. If you are a member- cookies will sign you in - else you just need to state your net-passport. Opening web-sites via Windows Messenger - you will aut. be signed in for net-passport. I have never deleted any who have signed up! I dont care about such - this procedure is the terms of free service provided by MSN and I have nothing with that to do. Only to inform how to handle - and acc. to my knowledge nobody have problems after they have signed up. No problem - I have mailed you a selfextracting file where you will find sys-files for several systems - incl. Meckwell and incl. the interference file.
  25. Yes Wayne - my message were for Dan - and he is member and will not have the rejection you received. Please follow the instructions from this help site - and you will be able to watch the files yourself: http://groups.msn.com/bridgeFILES/help.msnw
