Maybe something like that instead of convention cards Richard? A specific online convention card tool requiring no skills. If it will be possible to modify for defensive, e.i. it will also be able to use for continuations. Technically that ought to be the same - a decision dependent of the outcome of another decision. Right? If right then the decision maybe will be able to be forwarded by a script-generator.

Thank you Andreas - you did what I ought to have done myself before asking. I now see it is not a deal generator I am looking for it is a hand-generator. I have links for 2 of those and this one is for Currified Precision: http://home.san.rr.com/amelucci/Dealer/Dealer.html What I intend to is to try to modify so it can be used in standard Precision and also to add preempts so it will be suited for Belladonna/Garozzo version. I am also interested to try to see if possible to create something for the polish pass systems and maybe defensive bidding. I have no idea of this - and of course it is more simple just to specify the wishes than to try to do something. Your Google links seems to have some interesting adresses and I intend to pursue this way. Thank you for your kind help Andreas!

[tt]Deal generator and analyzer for estimating probability Bridgelys, a deal generator and analyzer for estimating probability is available for download. The output of Bridgelys and the theoretical probability calculations above have been checked for mutual consistency. This console application, based on the C++ language random function, has been specifically designed to estimate probability in a pre-bid situation, rather than generating deals for play.[/tt] I have downloaded this above mentioned tool from: http://www.absoftwaredesign.com/kkbridgel.html I hoped it was a deal generator handy to customize. Pity I cannot and I really dont understand what it really is. The installation takes place in BridgeVu so some kind of connection to BBO I assume. Anybody able to help explaining what it really is and perhaps how I will be able to generate a deal generator from this?

Version 3.5.3 available for testing

Today I had 2 applicants for our Precision Club. Those have now been rather difficult to handle. The table button now opens over the offline message and I can no longer read the message which also no longer can be in background. I now need writing that info down manually before I open table for adding. When I added those persons - the table description for the club disappeared. I have now created a file containing that info so I can upload a new one every time I need to do administration. Today I had the first person who I needed to cancel membership for because he wanted to opt out from club messages. Now he can no longer access the club area or register for club events. -

Dear Fred - I have no intensions trying to interfere with your prioriticing resources - of course not. You do so best yourself. What I try to do is only hoping to be helpful making suggestions I think will be to the benefit for many. Suggestions to the benefit for me and a few others only - you will never have from me! Making suggestions I try to take advantage from my former professional capacity regarding creativity/inventions and organization/automatization. Therefore it sometimes might cause problems for several to understand the meaning and my intensions in initial stages. Certainly - just think of the discussions we often have here about alert culture, language skills, dealing with rudenes etc. All topics you can do nothing with unless meeting of people across the borderlines are to take place. Please take a look at the team tournament area: 'Argentina meet the world', 'USA vs. rest' etc. Invitional small tournaments all. I think many of those complaining to be forced(sucked without options to say no) into a tourney really are those small team tourney's. They simply need all to be able to sign up in the same way as you do to pair-tourney's and the game to be carried out in a format somewhat similar to that of team tourney's. -

Thank you Gerardo - I have private enemies but when I act on behalf of Precision Club my only aim is building bridges. There my private enemies are accepted too of course. Invitional tourney's means fx. we have 10 italian pairs playing precision wanting to meet 10 polish pairs playing polish club. Trying to understand the different cultures in general but also the very different approaches for alerting. Another example might be to test 'Viking Precision Club'(a precision relay champion system) against 'Meckwell Club' (a precision non-relay champion system) My immediate outcry is based on the interpretation of below quote that this update of the client is specifically aimed to improve performance for clubs and tournaments. I know several of the the modifications will solve problems for many but really not for me. I have no problems with rude people etc. I want to see something which can contribute to the fun and to the enhancement of skills. If this was the update focussing on private clubs - thats what I fear - then it is needed to say: We did not get much of what we had hoped for! ---------------------------------------------------------- -

I am very much patient Gerardo - no problem! But Uday asked for some kind of definition of invitional tourney's. I have tried to explain - and I will be ready to do more but as such will quick be in technical terms it will not be suited for a general Forum like this. I really think it is a feature which will be very important for understanding across borderlines of culture and systems. Therefore I am very much on alert that such is to come. I am unable to see any attempt of such in the beta-version - please help me! If there is such then it may be a good solution. I am completely open for everything but you know - if you have fixed on a certain kind of solution - you will often be unable to see other kind of openings. - So for me right now I think - so please help! My comment about web-site link for 'conditions of contest' was only to try to be helpful with a full-good and to me who have web-sites I think best solution to the problem. I am not that good at english - but I read Uday's comment as something about missing server capacity. I thought a web-site link would eliminate that need. -

Hi Uday! Not much from this list in your new client as far as I can see. This list was provided you in the thread you started yourself in order to have proposals from the users especially for enhancing the performance of the private club facility you earlier has informed you dont use yourself and therefore need to rely on proposals from outside. I have tried to do so and you see here: http://forums.bridgebase.com/in...msg7762#msg7762 + http://forums.bridgebase.com/in...msg7940#msg7940 It is today really hard to use a private club for anything else than a simple and not very handy mailing list. I think the private club feature has been created and not very much used and due to that deeply thoughts about the topic has never really been on agenda. Fair enough if so - but is it going to stay so or has time come to take some kind of action? -

Looks fairly good but sorry that the most needed features was not added: Ability to inform via 'conditions of contest' Ability to create invitional tourney's I am looking forward to web-site link as you have announced for the private club. The info for the club before apply for membership is OK but else it looks like there have been not much improvements for the private clubs. As you have noticed from a recent discussion - I am one of those annoyed of the missing facility to enforce use of convention cards. Others like Rays Bridge Ladder and the Polish Team League will take the same position I assume. -
YES Ben - I want to see the original intensions of the http://groups.msn.com/isapi/fetch.dll?action=MyPhotos_GetPubPhoto&PhotoID=nFwAAAPIFUDp1cb6GtFc6DRCvXiOyN0hZWTOya26*wlDtjczbVBXquQ to be fulfilled. I want to see they act with dignity to the sign they have asked for themselves. They get no http://groups.msn.com/isapi/fetch.dll?action=MyPhotos_GetPubPhoto&PhotoID=nFwAAAPIFUDp1cb6GtFc6DRCvXiOyN0hZWTOya26*wlDtjczbVBXquQ unless they have asked Fred for it. As far as I remember Fred has informed they even need to send their credentials.

Trying to hit 'The Precision Team Bridge Club' on BBO you are simply trying to hit the wrong target. This club is open to anyone applying for membership. Nothing required except to press the button on BBO. Then I add all to memberlist. That story is really no longer than that - except maybe I know of a few not playing and not knowing any Precision versions and with no intensions to learn or to play that system. As long they want to be members themselves they can stay as members - no problem. That club is completely open - in fact it started without any knowledge of what a BBO-club was. We hoped to be able to organize invitional tourney's there. But in fact the club-function on BBO right now cannot produce very much. Therefore you in another thread may have noticed a long list for wishes to the coming next update of BBO. Even restrictions for pair tournaments was a feature added later to the client than the club was started. I blame you and the 3 others rightfully I think. I blame you not to take the http://groups.msn.com/isapi/fetch.dll?action=MyPhotos_GetPubPhoto&PhotoID=nFwAAAPIFUDp1cb6GtFc6DRCvXiOyN0hZWTOya26*wlDtjczbVBXquQ under your wings telling them they must now meet the responsibility their http://groups.msn.com/isapi/fetch.dll?action=MyPhotos_GetPubPhoto&PhotoID=nFwAAAPIFUDp1cb6GtFc6DRCvXiOyN0hZWTOya26*wlDtjczbVBXquQ gives them and which one they have chosen themselves to carry. - And then show them a way to do so! I really don't care about the club itself. It is not of my concern. But of course I wonder how you can be able to open a private club with the solely intension to use it as a tool for restriction of tournament-entry. Others have been deprived that right we all know - and also Fred has earlier expressed himself regarding that kind of using the private club facility.

No Edvin I am not too hard. If somebody want to lift from the ground and therefore want to be admired by others - then they must live up to a standard which can be used as an example for others to be heading for. Some don't want that - I think that is the persons Fred has told about who are qualified for http://groups.msn.com/isapi/fetch.dll?action=MyPhotos_GetPubPhoto&PhotoID=nFwAAAPIFUDp1cb6GtFc6DRCvXiOyN0hZWTOya26*wlDtjczbVBXquQ but who don't want the responsibillity they feel to carry such ones. - I respect such very much. Except from the missing convention cards - I can only recognize Rado as an example for others. - And Rado is normally also the only http://groups.msn.com/isapi/fetch.dll?action=MyPhotos_GetPubPhoto&PhotoID=nFwAAAPIFUDp1cb6GtFc6DRCvXiOyN0hZWTOya26*wlDtjczbVBXquQ I will watch for a longer period of time. I agree with you Edvin - if this was important to BBO promotion - Fred would have handled it himself.
-
Right Gerben - that was really also my point. Even our http://groups.msn.com/isapi/fetch.dll?action=MyPhotos_GetPubPhoto&PhotoID=nFwAAAPIFUDp1cb6GtFc6DRCvXiOyN0hZWTOya26*wlDtjczbVBXquQ are very good bridge players they are mostly those not qualifying for the big events we often have in Vugraph. They mostly fail not to play according to convention cards. The http://groups.msn.com/isapi/fetch.dll?action=MyPhotos_GetPubPhoto&PhotoID=nFwAAAPIFUDp1cb6GtFc6DRCvXiOyN0hZWTOya26*wlDtjczbVBXquQ knows quite well they would have won absolutely nothing playing without convention cards. - It is simply so that all good bridge players always plays according to convention cards. It is very poor that this new club have no intensions to contribute to a better standard. If the http://groups.msn.com/isapi/fetch.dll?action=MyPhotos_GetPubPhoto&PhotoID=nFwAAAPIFUDp1cb6GtFc6DRCvXiOyN0hZWTOya26*wlDtjczbVBXquQ want to have me in the audience they will certainly need to act as an example for all setting the standards for auctions, information(cc + alert), play, language, comments/analysizes. - Not all from the very beginning - but the intensions for that must be there by the management of the club if this is going to be of interest to me!

Problem of Interchanging Programs
csdenmark replied to sallyally's topic in Suggestions for the Software
No problem - give your text to Maureen and she will add the text to her file 'club news'. Then you will see your text in club news - and that is a lin-file. A more flexible solution may be to upload a normal web-site and let Maureen upload a link for that site. Then you will be able to modify the text without involving Maureen. -
I really wonder what the purpose of this club is? [tt]When top-players plays in ordinary tournaments they normally don't come on top far ahead but mostly in best half of the field. This means ordinary players are able to offer good competition even to the top players. Today kibitzers are offered top class bridge and top class mistakes as well in Vugraph each month - and more of that likely to come. Today kibitzers are missing 'Friday night training with Rado'. That weekly show offered excellent entertainment, good bridge and explanations.[/tt] Instead of the proclaimed agenda for TopFlight I would have been happy to see the aims to be: Top class standard for convention cards Top class standard for alerts Top class comments from good players knowing the players own systems

YES Maureen - there are limits! I assume 254 characters is the maximum for each. Links must be displayed at one line only - this means links cannot be of any length, fx. links to Ecats convention cards cannot be displayed. You may find problems to paste if last character is a blank. If you paste standard messages you can overcome the problem by inserting your text into a link at your WORD processor. Then you mark the link - copy the link - paste the link and your text and not the link address is to be displayed. Another way for that may be to use scripts. The application REMOTEKEYS is not so difficult to use - I think you can handle.
-
Yes John a lot to do in this area I think. Here a few comments - might be more later. Handling of lin-files - the commands(a hands-on manual) It is a generally problem on BBO you cannot copy from the client so therefore it would be a huge improvement to have all stuff of importance to be moved to normal web-sites. 1. The rules for these sites 2. BBO systems basic and advanced An interference system approach similar to the system basic and advanced A defense system approach similar to the system basic and advanced General rules for acceptable conduct at a bridge table Link to Vugraph schedule site Link to World Clock Link to BBO Forum

Formatting of BBO Forum is not compatible with standard Windows features. I think your best option will be simply to make a printscreen. There are 2 options for that. I dont remember exactly, I no longer print myself, but try: PrtSc CTRL+PrtSc Formatting of BBO is very special - therefore you have problems copy/paste from other sources into BBO Forum. -
YES of course take care who you choose/accept for partnership!
