  1. well I have my guessing shoes on and are they ever heavy so heavy in fact that I can only reach the green cards in the bidding box
  2. too close to a preempt/preempt for me so I pass
  3. Yeah... My double bet against octopus was much more idiotic idea.... and now even gwnn is above me :D and worse you tied the one who doesn't know squat about the game  BTW not particularly fond of seer sucker myself :)
  4. did you have someone in particular in mind :) In which case you need to specify their name and use the :D emoticon
  5. mostly bad luck but over 3♦ I would have called 3♠. Unlike others, given the texture of your hand, I don't consider 2♠ to be a particularly bad underbid so much as a reasonable attempt to buy the partscore
  6. technically you have 6 holes too many in the table to play billiards
  7. Any action has to done with BBO's best interest in mind. Consequently the probable best solution is to show stats that include number of attempts, i.e. sit down to play and number of disconnects. This information should be sufficient to let the bad actors self identify but assumes your commitment to play means you accept the stats but can leave without penalty if you don't accept them.
  8. Q1) no but then I play 2♣ is forcing and you have left your meaning unspecified I would just call 3♥ at my first turn assuming 5 card majors Q2) over 2♠ I call 3♥ if I haven't already shown the values for this otherwise I pass Q3) over 3♠ I believe partner has become the captain
  9. Q1) 2♠ only at MP at IMPS I pass Q2) 2♠ this is an unforced call Q3) 4♠ partner should not be bidding on Swiss cheese
  10. Q1) 2♠ Q2) part score either 2♠ or 3♥ Q3) yes get my values in while cheap
  11. pass is probably best for the moment or I have to give up 3♣ as a forcing call
  12. generally X is penalty, and any suit call is non forcing and non invitational, 2NT is a qbid
  13. maybe I'm losing my mind but in a SJS auction I thought the 3♠ call said "partner this is the trump suit start qbidding."
  14. choices are clearly pass, 3♥,3♠,3NT. Pass and 3♥ are clearly choosing to play conservatively in that strain and I would pick 3♥ over pass unless I really, really wanted to be sure partner didn't go on. 3♠ is targeting the small possibility that partner has 2 when he has already shown 10+ red cards although this will be no picnic if he has 2 small. 3NT would be my choice as I expect partner to have maxed out his hand after 3♦ and my spot cards in the reds are really good plus I have the black suit stoppers.
  15. bid 6♣ partner has 1 or less ♠ as he surely has to worry about quick off the top losers. Must be too short in ♦ or ♥ not to find an X.
  16. make an in tempo 5♣ call 5♠ will go down more often and more than 4♠
  17. my speculation is that they don't play it because they don't look beyond the 2♦ call itself and do not see the system impacts of the call not having being made
  18. Always struck me as a bit illogical, that. After all, LHO might not have clubs, whereas RHO certainly has diamonds (indeed, playing the Walsh style that has become increasingly popular, the chances are that he has quite a lot of diamonds). Myself, I prefer to play that if an opponent bids a suit he might not have, then I have it when I bid it. If on the other hand an opponent bids a suit he certainly has, then I don't have it when I bid it. what I thought but with more detail :)
  19. I don't see José Raúl Capablanca, Paul Morphy, or Alexander Alekhine on the list oh wait none of these guys have played in the last 50 years :P
  20. lead the K♥ that way you can guard ♠ and your partner can guard ♥ in the upcoming squeeze :P
  21. Either S can rebid 3♣/1♠ and N should be able to lead the way there or in the existing auction N can bid 6NT/4NT as he is the one that can clearly see the majors are well reinforced.
  22. I suspect you don't have enough information as the std deviation for each of their %ages is probably critical to generating a sum of the normal curves of each
  23. living up to your new handle I see....hmmm....didn't think that was allowed :)
  24. next time you need to be sure mum has a full box of bidding cards. Ones that include the XX cards.
  25. agree partner's tank=auto pass
