Well if you knew that pulling him from 3NT was a slam try, you shouldn't have opened. Playing no 2 suited conventions, I pass first. And this is only one of the bidding sequences why passing first causes you less ♥burn

I really, really thought we were going to get 2CEX-3 at least. errrr, does North know about negative and reopening doubles? and I thought Bozo gave up bridge :P
but you don't explain why it is obvious! So what if your partner will be lucky to extract 2 tricks out of your hand with either minor as trumps but with ♠ as trump you already have 5 in the bag and chances for 6 tricks
why should partner bid 3♠ over your 3♦ bid? he has already told you 10 of his cards what would be more useful would be to know which suit is the shortest. Because 3D is not forcing to game and he probably has a minimum for his bid. so are you saying 3♠ shows a minimum?

actually a lot of people are saying you cannot pull it if you want. They are wrong. You can legally pull it, but probably won't do it again, with this same partner. If I understand you correctly you are saying that having pulled the trigger on the 2♠ bidder he is ready to pull the plug on his CHO :)
