[hv=pc=n&w=st75ht62dcakqj987&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=2h3h]133|200[/hv] Can this be Western Cue to bid 3NT if you East have a Heart stopper?

[hv=pc=n&s=s962h843d74cak652&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1cp1dp1nppp]133|200[/hv] Playing walsh does 1♦ asking partner to bid 1NT, if balanced need to be alerted? If ♦ are short as in example is the main purpose of question. Also does 1NT bid need alerted as could be bypassing a 4 card major? Thank you
-
1NT was bid by a passed hand , cannot be natural. Yes was alerted as the 2 unbid suits

[hv=pc=n&e=skq985ht2d3ct9832&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=p1dp1h]133|200[/hv] I chose to bid 1NT [unusual] Partner believes I should have bid 1♠ We let them play contract in 2 [making]. Partner held [hv=pc=n&w=saj2hk43da873cj65]133|100[/hv] 2♠ would have made. Opinions please. Thank you

What's up with Bridgeclues?
dickiegera replied to bixby's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Told Tuesday March 27th Bridge Clues is in the process of upgrading to a new server: Amazon Web Services. AWS provides maximum security for our subscribers. Hopefully, tomorrow Bridge Clues will be running again. Regards, Anne Lund, Bridge Clues As of Sunday April 1st For Your Information. It was necessary to hire a new tech person to upgrade the Bridge Clues code. It will be more user-friendly and will be compatible with the new credit card requirements. We expect Bridge Clues will be functioning by mid-April. Please forward this ro your bridge friends. Thank you for your support and patience. Regards, Anne Lund, Bridge Clues -
[hv=pc=n&w=sha863dt9873cak76&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1dp1s2cpp3d]133|200[/hv] Is 3♦ an invite or is it forcing? Would 3♣ better describe East's hand which was AQxx,Jx,KQJxx,xx? Thank you

[hv=pc=n&e=sk53hajtdacaqt642&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1h1s2sp3dp]133|200|NOW WHAT????[/hv] 2♠ was intended to be a game forcing raise in hearts. Partner and I were not on same page. What should I bid next? I chose 3♥ and partner passed. I was hoping West would bid 4♥ so I could bid 4NT keycard asking. How should we have bid this? Thank you

Agree with 2 spade bid?
dickiegera replied to dickiegera's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
WE play controls where 2♦ shows 1 control or 0 controls. 2NT shows 3 controls [3 kings] -
[hv=pc=n&w=sak8hakj86datca43&e=sqt63h43dk63cq986&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=2cp2dp2hp2sp3sp4sppp]266|200|2 diamonds shows no Ace at most 1 king[/hv] Partner and I disagree on the bidding. West says I should have raised hearts and 2♠ shows 5 spades. I east don't agree . Also would 2NT be a better bid than 2♠ or 2 hearts? We play puppet stayman so west could still show the 5 card Heart suit. Thank you

At a recent tournament directors said something to the effect that opening 1NT with 15-17 pts does no longer need to be announced. Later someone said that this is not true. Question does 1NT 15-17 pts need to be announced? Thank you

Playing 12 pair Howell movement pair 11 stays at table 2 all nite. However they play N/S part of the time and E/W part of the time. When switching from N/S to E/W pair 11 usually just turns the table card. We have had problem with scores being posted the wrong direction while using bridgemates. Director has said that at table 2 pair 11 must change seats rather than turn the table card. I agree with this however I am wondering if there is any thing in the rules about this. Thank you

Lead and etc
dickiegera replied to dickiegera's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Both N and S followed to trick one. I edited original to show just 1 set of E/W hands I am not sure of the holdings in the Spades, hearts and diamonds. I am sure of the club holding. North and south each had just one club, we had 11 clubs 4 for East and 7 for West. Thank you -
I led the K clubs and partner played the 7 Clubs. I could not read the card and continued with a Spade. Where did we go wrong? We set the contract 1 trick for a great result. They should have been in 4 hearts. However we could have taken the first 8 tricks if I would have continued Clubs. Again where did we go WRONG and is the lead of King clubs correct or should it be the Ace or a small one. Should partner played a club different from the 7? Played 8 times 1 pair was in 7♦ 1 pair in 6♦ and 3 pair in 6NT Makes 7 ♦ any lead. Makes 7NT on any lead except a club lead in which case NT only makes 2NT

[hv=pc=n&n=s6h98dkj87652ct82&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1dd2nppp]133|200|WE play flip flop and 2NT is a weak raise in diamonds. This was not alerted. South forgot. Marked weak on both cards, no questions asked. Before opening lead I North explained the failure to alert.[/hv] Director was called by East and we were told to play the board and he would look at the results afterwards. On the spade lead made 2NT. If I would have taken finesse would have made 3. The popular result was 4♠ 170 for E/W all tho the hand record says E/W should only make 3♠ 140 Director gave E/W an adjusted score of 170 to E/W. Is this correct??? Thank you

Finesse or Drop?
dickiegera replied to dickiegera's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I edited my original post to show South as declarer -
Finesse or drop[hv=pc=n&s=sqt8hat982d62cajt&n=sk2hkj74dakjt4ck8]133|200[/hv] You are in 6♥ contract. Opponents silent. After losing spade on opening lead [not led] all you need is to find Heart Q Am I correct that Finesse is a 50% chance therefore better than playing for drop. Which way to finesse is a guess. Thank you South is declarer. East wins opening spade lead with Ace and continues a spade.

[hv=pc=n&s=skj76h62dak853ct9&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=p1d1h3d]133|200[/hv] When asked by West to explain 3♦ bid North looked blank, then when asked if it was weak North said Yes-----Probably. [dashes rep a 4 second pause]. North / South are a married couple who only play with one another and are life masters around 600 pts. They frequently misexplain bids. Director said there is no recourse for a mistake in bidding. Convention card showed 3♦ as weak. We doubled 3♦ and they made 4 for a bottom. Your thoughts/opinions welcome. Thank you

Yes partner had a Heart. Partner played a diamond and a second later played a heart and dummy called for director immediately.
-
Last nite at local club game partner played a diamond on a heart trick that I won. Dummy immediately called for director. Director took dummy that he could not do that. However director still allowed declarer the option of forbidding or requiring me to lead a diamond. Leading a diamond from KJ109 with Qx in dummy allowed declarer to make contract. I thought that after dummy's call of director drawing attention to an opponents irregularity the PENALTY IS NOT ENFORCED. Comments.

Playing walsh over a 1♣ opening what bids are to be alerted? 1♦? What if diamond bidder has less than 4 cards in diamond suit? 1 Major? After 1♦ bid does 1NT [ may have a 4 card Major] need to be alerted? Thank you

Two questions #1. Is it ACBL legal to have an agreement to open weak 2's with 4-11 points/? #2 Is it ACBL legal to have agreement that overcalls are 2-16 points?
