[hv=pc=n&w=st6haqd8752c96542&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1s3h4sp6sppp]133|200[/hv] It takes a Heart lead to set this contract. North and south both had doubletons in Hearts, East held KJ 7times in Hearts. I West did not double having no reason to believe that we could cash 2 Hearts. Also not sure that a double asks for a Heart lead. Partner East did not like leading from KJ in a slam. Also believes that double would have asked for heart lead. HELP Thank you

[hv=pc=n&n=skj876htda4cajt93]133|100[/hv] You open this 1♠. How do you continue? #1 if partner bids 2♥? #2 if partner bids 2♦? #3 if LHO bids 2♥ and it passes back to you? #4 if LHO bids 2♦ and it passes back to you? Many are of the opinion that 3♣ would show a big hand in this bidding Opinions please Thank you

I am under the impression that opening 1NT with less than 10 points is not legal in ACBL. Can someone tell me where it states that you need 10 pts? Thank you

[hv=d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1sp4s5h]133|100[/hv] We were discussing this hand that was played eariler in the day by us and another pair. The auction was the same at both tables till the 5 Heart bid. At other table South now bid 4NT , director called. West was given option to accept 4NT bid which she did. I said that she should have not accepted and that would have bared North from the auction. She that was not explained to her. Only if she wished to accept 4NT bid Should director explain what happens if she doesn't accept 4NT bid or should West ask or know the answer? Thank you

[hv=pc=n&e=skq6hqj62d8754cat&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=2cp2hp3nppp]133|200|NO ALERTS[/hv] West held the K1098 of Hearts and didn't believe it was ethical to ask about the heart bid meaning. I East would have lead a heart however it appears that South with a heart suit and N/S with many points would leave partner with nothing. South also didn't advises us to the fact that 2♥ was a negative before opening lead was made. I lead a ♦ and after seeing dummy asked about 2 [hearts bid ,called the director. Director said play it out and she would look at it later. We were playing last round. North make 5. A heart led holds it to 3. Played 5 times, scores were 3@-660,1@-600 and 1@-210. Director would not change our score altho she consider giving us average What is correct? South hand Thank you [hv=pc=n&s=s87h543d963cq9762]133|100[/hv]

1 NT or 1 Spade?
dickiegera replied to dickiegera's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
[hv=pc=n&e=st5hkqjt54da752c3]133|100[/hv] This was the East hand. Playing 2/1 and 1NT forcing how does one get to a 4 Heart contract unless it is opened 1NT? -
[hv=pc=n&w=saqj76ha6dktcqt76]133|100[/hv] Open 1NT or 2 Spade? If you open 1 Spade what is your rebid if partner bids 1 NT?

[hv=pc=n&w=sj64hk54da6cat984&e=saq82haqt986dqcqj&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1cp1hp1np2sp3hp3sp]266|200[/hv] Should West now cuebid the Ace of Clubs? I East intended 3 Spades as showing the Ace of Spades , agreeing Hearts as trump and a slam try in Hearts. Partner West said I was showing a 6-5 distribution and giving her a choice of a 4 Spade or a 4 Heart contract. Comments appreciated. Thank you

Clubs had never been played up to this point. East was dealt a stiff J of clubs. North and South never dis carded any clubs. Don't know if west had discarded any clubs,

[hv=pc=n&s=shdcqt75&w=shdc&n=sjhdcak4&e=sqhdt9cj]399|300[/hv] Hearts were trump. With 4 cards to be played North claims tabling his hand saying the rest are mine. True if he cashes clubs first, however if north leads his Spade first he will lose 3 tricks. Director awarded E/W 1 trick. What is correct? Thank you

I finally had a hand that surround play came to be. Declarer LHO was in 1NT and after 5 or 6 cards had been played I found myself on lead with Q1083 of diamonds. Dummy had 942 and I led the 10. I recognized surround play. LHO held K75 partner AJ6. Declarer played the king and partner won with Ace. However partner did not return diamond. Question how is partner to judge the situation? My lead of high card in diamonds was inferred by partner to mean I had no interest in diamonds. AGAIN HOW WAS PARTNER TO READ THE SITUATION. WE talked it and came up with no good answer. Help would be welcomed. Thank you

West places stop card back in bidding box and at the same time says that the wrong bid was made and wishes to correct. North objects and the director is called. I East said that West is allowed to change bid since no one has bid and West had immediately drawn attention to misbid. Director tells West he should be more careful and tells him to live with it. Now North doubles and it is passed back to West who now bids 3♥. North now bids 4spades which is passed out. I east leads my 7 of hearts and during the play of the hand it is soon evident that North had only 1 club and a void in diamonds. I made the comment [which I shouldn't have] To north that she didn't have a take out double of 2♠ and to South that she didn't have a pass of the take out double It got pretty ugly with North screaming and pointing at me so the entire room was aware. I know I was wrong for saying anything. Director later admited error in not allowing the 2♠ to be corrected I believe that North thru all of her protesting that the 2♠ must stand led her partner to understand that the double was penalty and was to pass the double. Comments please

I was thinking slam so I bid 2NT to see which minor. Clubs did not interest me, so I just bid 4♠ Others were in 6♠ making 7 and 6♣ making 6. How should we have bid this? Thank you

[hv=pc=n&w=s953hk65daq72cj52&e=sakqha9743dk53c84&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1np3nppp]266|200[/hv] South held AQxxx in clubs and NS took the first 5 tricks in NT. The board was played 6 times the scores being 3@450 ,3@200 and us at -50. Diamonds were 3-3. Those in 4♥ lost only a heart and a club. THE BOOK says to open 1NT with 16pts and a 5 card major and THE BOOK says to bid 3NT with a 3-3-4-3 hand after partner opens 1NT. WE play puppet stayman [ 1NT -3 Clubs] Were we the victim of bad bidding or bad luck?

[hv=pc=n&e=skqj72hq86d7cat65&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1sp2np3d]133|200[/hv] Is it proper to show singleton here or is too weak and should one just bid 4?♠? If partner now bids 3♥ should East bid 4♣? Who should be in control after 4 ♣ if the bidding proceeds as such? East seemingly has no reason to bid higher. Is it up to West? 4NT RKB will do no good since all keycards have been shown. 4NT followed by 5NT for kings will put it too high if someone doesn't have kings of clubs and/or hearts.
