  1. Hello all, We are thinking of replacing our single event structure with two separate events because of significantly different pace of the players: - Event 7A: a Modified-swiss tournament with 2 x 16 board matches assigned at the beginning of each week. Format: Best-hand IMP, takes 4 weeks (8 matches) but may be changed to 5 weeks if we have too many players. Open to anyone. - Event 7B: Round-robin then Knock-out tournament, with 5-7 matches(12 to 16 boards) per week. Format: Best-hand IMP, planned time is 3 to 4 weeks, but may be shorter or longer based on the number of entrants. Unfortunately, we have to exclude players who were (i) not following the post daily, (ii) not playing in the suggested speed in the previous competitions. Therefore, you can register but your spot is not guaranteed (I promise we will be as flexible). For a player who never played in any of the competitions, we will ask for at least two references - references can leave me a message in BBO. Important note: A player can register for both events at the same time. We will start the registration process soon. Best, Ovunc Registration for 7B: http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/76200-event-7b-round-robin-then-knock-out-fast-pace/
  2. We are planning to announce two simultaneous events (One slow-pace Swiss and one fast-pace RR+KO), the announcements will be made shortly.
  3. Hey m1cha, good thoughts. The voting was Frank's innocent mistake, he is a wonderful kid but sometimes he forgets about real-world (but it is fine given he is a PhD student in Math). We are not gonna have any voting again. It will be back to old style. The number of people in the group also got tricky because of the total number of people, starting next tournament, things will be smooth again. Potentially, we will have a slow tournament (potentially Swiss and max 2-3 games per week) and a invitational fast tournament (5-6 games per week, similar to current structure with big group sizes). Cheers
  4. Phoenix - 1) Some people are not even aware of being registered, what can we do? Someone has 5 matches to go two days before the deadline? Their opponents say that the guy does not accept the match invite. The guy says that he will finish soon. How can we understand that who says the truth? Do you want us to ask for screenshots and stuff? What should we do? YOU MUST PLAY IN A GOOD PACE - HAVING 3 GAMES LEFT 2 DAYS BEFORE THE DEADLINE IS NOT FINE. 14 DAYS DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU CAN GO AND SEND AN INVITE TO SOMEONE IN LAST DAY AND EXPECT HIM TO PLAY. IT IS A TWO-PEOPLE MATCH, YOU MUST BE AWARE OF THIS. IF YOU SCHEDULE ALL YOUR 10 GAMES FOR THE LAST DAY, IT IS FINE - BUT YOU CANNOT RANDOMLY DECIDE ON THE TOURNAMENT PACE. 2) Nobody is making anything a private event. But if there is one fast and one slow pace event, the fast one will be invitational based on the data - we cannot let everyone in as we did this time. 3) It is extremely silly that you make generalizations based on your own experience but we had like 10+ people with all different reasons for slow play (e.g. not sure how to send a challenge, not being aware of being registered, relative deaths, schedule conflict with opponent etc.).
  5. Unfortunately I contacted 10+ people multiple times and literally made them finish their matches. People must finish their games in a fast or regular speed, having 5 games 2 days before the deadline is not acceptable - and unfortunately for running the tournament and being fair in the rankings etc, I don't want to go and deal with such players in the future.
  6. I am planning to make an extensive analysis of the slow plays for last 4 tournaments - People who are much slower than the suggested pace will not be taken to next big event, which will be invitational. Sorry we put a lot of effort, but most people are not helpful.
  7. Sorry but you cannot take more than a week for the matches every time. The tournament takes forever. Saturday night is the deadline for all rounds.
  8. Amazing card play performance by toast1 throughout the match, especially in the final set. Well done!

  10. TO FOLLOW THE KNOCKOUT -- PLEASE GO TO: http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/76018-bbf-challenge-event-6-ko-stage/
  11. Please not. People cannot even follow this one easily, another one will take forever to deal with.
  12. --- KNOCKOUT BRACKET COMING SOON ---
  13. We have so many people who just clicked "YES" to join the tournament - it was a big mistake (at least imo) to use a poll for registration and also to make 5 groups of 11! I have been done for 10-11 days right now, and I completely agree with you on the fact that it goes very slow. However, I think we are doing a great job for the given the set of players and the tournament structure. Believe me, I literally contacted people personally in BBO and made them complete their matches one by one, because the point adjustment stuff will be ugly and potentially very unfair for some. Anyway, I think Frank is planning to just help next time, and I am going to take control. I have a few radical changes in my mind, the current pace is so slow for some of us, it is not the best thing to complete each tournament in 5-6 weeks. But for some others, we go too fast. So I offer the following: FAST EVENT - CHALLENGE CUP (Will be invitational, you may get in based on your earlier play or by reference of those players who are in + earlier slow players will not get in for sure): For people who can follow the forum as frequent as every 48 hours, complete the group stage in 3-4 days maximum and can finish 64 boards KO in 2-3 days (on average). We potentially wrap up every event in 2-2.5 weeks. REGULAR EVENT - CHALLENGE LEAGUE (Open): Two times 16 boards per week, possibly a long Swiss/Danish format (yes, we announce two matches at a single time except last few weeks) or even a Round-Robin. I will get some feedback when current tournament reaches to Quarter final stage.
  14. Kubiresmo says "70-30" for the game vs. you. Who won? Please inform us.
  15. We must check it with wackojack.. He reported it, maybe a mistake? Maybe you don't see it?
  16. eblenner is officially out given (s)he did not respond here or in BBO and also did not accept any challenges within last few days. We will make the score adjustments for people who didn't complete their matches against him/her after all matches are over.

If the game is not sent yet, please send it then inform us. Do this asap and please do it by game by game so we can actually know who creates issues. 19. We dont follow earlier posts, so next time just make a new post:) Thanks!
  20. Ant - could you please send another challenge to prasanna? He told me that he will play..
  21. Thanks crazy4hoop for being understanding about this. Since I know that el mister was active at that time, I really think he just missed it because everybody just throws challenges to each other. Thanks for fair-play!

  23. are you okay with replaying your match?
  24. 10-0 is not the actual score, it is just written for showing that the guy withdrew and counting the number of matches played correctly.
