Okay - I assume we will have a round-robin: 12 boards each match, best hand, IMP. Please post results here.

For Speedball event for this weekend, I received following registrations so far: diana_eva, smerriman, zebutin, olegru, me.

Okay folks, I am planning to start a Speedball event for the weekend (and maybe Monday). I will try to private message people (I know of) in BBO. The format will simple KO with random draw - there may be two-survivor three-way games in the first round. Each match will be 16-board IMP best-hand (3-way will be 8-board against each opponent) until the semi-final. Semi-final and final will be 2 x 12 boards. I strongly encourage people who can login multiple times per day and play quick:) It is mainly for fun at this point. You can register through here (or leave me a private message in BBO) until Saturday 11am EST (NYC time). I will have the pairings if I have more than 6 players. Cheers, Ovunc p.s. I will be happy if someone can help in this and maybe make a new post for this.

Key matches left: Group 1--> jeffford76-broze Group 2--> mkgnao-nullve, mkgnao-cherdano Group 5--> dadim-manudude03 (if manudude03 cannot get enough VP in this match, other matches will not be important for KO qualification) For tojam2 case, he is inactive for a long time (I messaged him privately multiple times in BBO) - so for now, we assume he dropped out and gave his opponents 12VPs as rules stated. I would love to kick off the KNOCKOUTS on this Sunday (yes, a week faster than planned - but lots of people are impatient and sending me messages on BBO) if we have these matches done by Saturday night.
-
Btw, it is manudude03 - check spelling.

elwood - could you please go to MY BBO > My results and find the match vs. hrothgar and open it as a new tab, copy paste the link.

Hello all, @Smerriman, @Sfi - thanks for insights. Here is our official report.. Group 1 - Tojam2 is missing. Other than that, jeffford76-broze game is the only match left. We will make a decision about replacement soon. Group 2 - We basically wait for mkgnao. He has 3 matches left and he wants to take it slow. Group 3 - Fully completed. Good job! Group 4 - I am playing vs. toast1 right now. Then only match left is toast1-elyk25. Group 5 - We wait for manudude03-dadim and also the 3-way between manudude03-hrothgar-elwood913. I also plan to create a speedball type of event starting Saturday and ending Wednesday - players need to complete ~32 boards every 48hours, details will be published soon.
-
Not only for you but - Even if you have no chance, please complete all your matches.

Diana_eva informed me a week ago that real GIB needed some extra coding or something - sounded like a NO to me. By the way, could you post your game file vs. dadim.. I heard the score and put it up - just want to make sure. Good luck in the rest! By the way, don't forget about the consolidation event!

If you accept a challenge, please make sure that you finish it as soon as possible. If you let it expire (you have 3 days after the challenge is sent, not after you accept), the player who didn't finish has the full responsibility.
-
Put the hand records bro -- my results, find the match, open in new tab and copy the links here.
-
Does it matter? Just resend it, so your time restarts. Otherwise if he accepts and plays in last 2 hours - you technically lose:)
-
Please make sure to cancel and resend if not accepted in 24 hours.

Yes, you need to play 4 or 5 oppos in 11-13 day period.
-
Although I agree IMP may mean a lot of big plus and minuses while playing GIB, MP is also quite random with GIBs.
-
I wrote something first but then noticed that I really didn't understand what you guys are discussing. @Smerriman, do you defend IMP? @Cherdano, do you defend MP? I mean, we really need to go IMPs - but we can make a MP tournament in the future.

1) We are planning to seed people based on Event #2 results. New comers / early losers in the previous event will be randomly placed into groups after seeded players. After a few tournaments, seeding issue will be taken care of since the data gets bigger - and things will get better. 2) We had lots of logistics issues in the first tournament because of the "biggest difference" rule. We clearly don't want to deal with it again. Unless you have exactly 16 or 32 players, it is problematic to start a KO with ACBL style 3-way or 4-way matches: --> 3-way is reasonable if it is played at the same time, which we cannot enforce for challenges. We may have issues people waiting for each other etc. --> 4-way matches with 3-survivors are also tricky since we don't have a good seeding at this point. Usually top seeds play head-to-head vs. players who are at the bottom. In our case, the bottom does not say anything since it may be a player who is playing his first event. Therefore, it may unfair to assign head-to-head and four-ways to people. Therefore, groups with RR and then KO looks the best. 3) You cannot make people play the same boards, that is not an option in BBO (and also again, people play different times and I can easily ask my friend to give the hands after he plays etc.) 4) Yes, the challenge events are random. I know most of the top-8 in last tournament. When I was talking to some of them, they all admitted that a lot of luck involved. So it is possibly better to keep it as a "ladder" and enjoy as much as possible while competing.
