  1. I don't think there's a "right" answer as 6 or 7 something COULD be on for us BUT I assume BBO advanced 4♠X is for penalty? (as I can't find anything contracting it ;) ) SO with this hand I would PASS as I would not like to penalise a P who courageously bid a SOLID 7 card (or an 8 card semi-solid) ♦ suit B) If we miss slam -- just say "NICE 4♠ bid opps" and take my lumps
  2. I like the idea of colour coding tables according to system --- as playing against HUMS with a REGULAR partner is not what I like to do --- but I accept that folks should be allowed to play them if they wish
  3. as 2♣ is 100%forcing I can just bid 2♥ --- confident that I can show my length and strength below 3NT  so if it goes 1♠ 2♣ 2♥ 3♣/♦ then I can rebid 3 ♥ and if P then bids ANYTHING except 4♥ I will bid 4♠ (or KCB over 4♠)
  4. WOW u bid to THREE level at RED v white ------ I think you have a death wish  :) (at white V red it's a better proposition IMHO) BECAUSE 1. you haven't told P you have 2 suits 2. you have a 6 loser hand and you have NO idea what P has :) with your hand I would 1. PASS or (If as you do figure I have a bid  I would hopefully have Michaels -- or ONLY bid 2♠ --- and hope that W has insufficient in his hand to double for penalty(if indeed a X would be for penalty after a 2♠ overcall)
  5. Interesting comment re count signals -- my regular pertner (husband ) and I have used them for about 30 years -- since we first switched to "Shenken Club" system. We now play Precision but still employ count signals and find them useful . BTW I would consider us "Intermediate + " or maybe "Advanced -" players :) And with one partner I used to play online (when I lived in the US) played attitude when following to partner's lead and count when following to opps lead -- and many times we got the vital extra trick in defence :)
  6. 1. W is OK with 2NT opener (20-21 NO 5CM [i presume]?) 2. 3♣ -- asking for majors OK  3. 3♠ showing FOUR spades OK :( NOW I have a problem with the 4♥ bid ----- because a. E ONLY has 4 SMALL trumps b. E has a fairly balanced hand  c. partnership has at MOST 31 points !!!! insufficient for a slam with 4/4 ♠ and NO apparent secondary fit   SO imho the blame rests 99% ( ) with W
  7. in a word NO  at any scoring
  8. FIRST --- had you agreed ANY system with "expert" ?? 1. IF not I assume sayc applies -- SO I would have opened 1NT -- just to avoid rebid problems :( 2. NOW I have REALLY made a rod for my own back -- so like Jlall I too ABSTAIN  3. But practically NOW (having made a HUGE mistake opening 1♣ I will pass
  9. I personally would NOT open 4♣ with W hand  BUT as W did open 4♣ ---- once E has bid 5♣ he should NEVER [iMHO] bid again (UNLESS forced to by his P ) SO the bad result is 5% to W for opening 4♣ and 95% to E for his undisiplined (sp?) 7♣ bid :) <_<
  10. 1. 4♦ 2. Natural suit  3. 5♣ showing 6/5 at least with ♣ longer than ♦ --- EXACTLY what I have :) WTP?
  11. Let me stste that I play Precision where I would open the S hand 1♥ (11-15 with 5♥) My partner would raise to 4♥ -- using LOTT (considering we are white V red) SO when opps bid 4♠ (GREAT bid ) I will PASS as I am mininum for my first bid AND I am not sure that 4♠ is making as P MIGHT have 4 of them :) BUT allowing for the system N/S were playing  I blame S 40%for the X as N HAD to bid 5♥ <_< :o BUT 60% blame to the system :P
  12. Firstly I would NOT have opened at all :) and NEVER would have bid ♥ at the 5 level -- after all P has only given a SINGLE raise :) So I PASS
  13. 3♠ as I have not yet told P i have a really good ♠ suit :)
  14. I had the same problem --but it only affected BBO game room and forums -- finally I just shut the computer down, and it's fine now B)
  15. Not sure what time Board thought I was usung. But have changed it now ;)
  16. I have just posted some replies in forum and noticed that the date has come up as "January 10" for MY posts -- which is really interesting as it's STILL only Jan 9 here in Perth Australia :)
  17. OK my 2¢ worth B) Partner has reversed so he has a good hand (16+ I believe) with ♦s and ♥s (♦ longer that ♥)-- and HIS bid is forcing on you :) ALL you have promised with your 1♠ (the way I play SAYC anyway) is 6+ points and FOUR ♠s SO when you are forced to bid again your 2♠ ONLY shows 5♠ and so IMHO the 2♠ bid is NON forcing!! However P still has another bid ;) and because you have indicated a MINIMUM hand ( ie about 6 or 7 points ) with 5♠ [not just 4] HE has the responsibility to decide if the combined hands are worth another forcing bid (maybe 4sf?) or a rebid of ♥( which IMO should show 6/5 in ♦/♥ and ask YOU to choose the suit AND level )
  18. ITA -- and agree that claiming in F2F may not be the way to go :)
  19. IMO in all cases: Assuming that 3♦ is GAME force I would need KING AND QUEEN of ♦ in place of the ten ;) (and that wasn't an option) :) If I have K♦ in place of the T I will bid 2NT showing INVITATIONAL values with 5 ♠
  20. FIRSTLY -- WE are red v white :P I would not bid at ALL unless P FORCED me to -- which he/she has NOT done -- so I pass :)
  21. I'm assumong SAYC with 15-17 NT I will bid 3NT and hold A♥ till 3rd round if necessary :) I really can't see any other bid making -- and P is probably 4441 with singleton ♥ so converting the neg X to penalties is (IMHO) not a good idea either :P
  22. To ME it says "P if you have the 2 TOP honours in ♥ bid 7!" SO I PASS and hope like h*** that we make it :) IMHO if partner has SUCH a strong hand there MUST be better ways to bid it than bidding this way !! as ALL I have shown is 5♥ and 4♦ and LESS than 16+ points -- P has a better way (surely) of forcing to game??? FOR EXAMPLE 1. FSF -- which I think is game force even in SAYC! 2. If playing 2/1 either 1NT (forcing) over 1♥ or 2 SOMETHING -- forcing to GAME :P
