    Fit jump?

    2NT good 4card raise, 2nd choice 3C.
  2. interesting.. 2-5 in the majors, sounds kinda neat
  3. I give up. What's the 3rd way?
  4. Agree with the initial pass and that N has to find a stronger bid than 4S. Like others have suggested, splintering in hearts would be the only viable (and good) option.
  5. Hmm I suppose blasting may have its merits but I would always bid 3C with this hand as my hand seems soo good. I guess I'm not used to blasting 3NT with these kind of hands in MPs as I always end up taking the science route..
  6. No, I don't think so. Presuming you're referring to the Ax opp QT987, it's entirely different to this one. Anyways, intuitively I think I would run the Q and if that holds a diamond to the Ace. If no diamond honours have appeared maybe I'll lead the HQ to see if the opps will give count..
  7. 1NT for me as well. No, 1D being precision does not affect my answer.
  8. I don't think there's a standard meaning for it in 2/1, it's up to what you agree with partner. Though if I had to assume a meaning with a pick-up (presuming 2C is GF) I'd say 2NT rebid is weak NT and 3NT is 18-19 with something like 4-4-3-2.
  9. It's a bit tough, and it seems to boil down to how good of a suit partner's hearts are. Can't really make up my mind to pass or raise.. Given the 4S, possibly there will be bad breaks, so I guess that tips me to a pass.
  10. Agree with the bidding, and now a smooth and a happy pass.
  11. One way to play it is: 5+M 4oM GF = Smolen 5S 4+H INV = Stayman then bid 2S (over partner's 2D. Otherwise you can invite/game if partner has a fit) 5S 4H To Play = Transfer to 2S (have to give stayman up) 5H 4S INV = 2D transfer then 2S 5H 4S To play = Stayman then 2H 5S 5H GF = Transfer via 2H then bid 3H 5S 5H INV = Stayman then bid 2S This keeps the options of 1NT-3M being singleton in the M bid, 3cards in the other major and 5/4 either way in the minors GF. 1NT-3S = 1-3-(54), 1NT-3H = 3-1-(54) Another method you may employ is 1NT-3x: 3C = 5/5 minors INV 3D = 5/5 minors GF 3H = 5/5 Majors INV 3S = 5/5 Majors GF
  12. Did you notice that RHO has just passed a forcing bid? I'd want to know what hand-types the forcing notrump contains, and whether this partnership has any previous experience of passing it, so as to gauge the liklihood that RHO has psyched. Yes, I did notice RHO passed a forcing bid but I also noticed partner's a passed hand who also passed the 1NT. The OP stated that 1NT was 'intended' as Forcing for 1 round with no extra information so I'm assuming that the opps are not a frequent partnership and maybe RHO is more accustomed to 'forcing, but I can pass with a min with 5332' or alike and LHO didn't know about it? Or was I supposed to ask that first? In any event, I play X as takeout in either of mine or partner's seat, so that's certainly out for me.
  13. agree that there is no correct choice but it's on agreement.
  14. Well done and a nice post! Hope we had contributed to a bit of shaping you guys up a bit :P
  15. i agree that sometimes the commentary can be really bad, but i just tend to ignore it.
  16. 100% agree with the 4H bid and now I pass.
  17. Don't I have an easy pass or am I missing something?
  18. This all depends upon agreement. Playing with a pick-up I would just assume 1M-3M as a limit raise. But I would say the sequence of going via 2m then jump to 3M is definitely not a 4 card limit raise - that is also dependent upon agreement (for example, picture jumps). Playing with a pick-up I would also assume 1D-2C is GF. Some play it as GF except rebid.
  19. No, I would not open with West's hand. East had an easy T/O dbl.
