  1. Think I'm going to raise to game on this one.
  2. If 3♣ was chosen, is 3NT to play or is it showing diamonds after 2♥-3♣-3♥-P P - 3NT ?
  3. You're south at unfavourable. East is the dealer. You hold: [hv=d=e&v=n&s=sa2h3da8742cakj82]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] RHO opens a weak 2♥. Your bid. Side question: If you play 4m as leaping michaels, do you play 3H as stopper ask or minors? If minors, what's the difference between 3H/4H/4NT.

    bid?

    This was the full hand: [hv=d=w&v=b&n=sqt952h62d6ckjt95&w=s86hkqt85dkqt75c8&e=skj43hj943d832c76&s=sa7ha7daj94caq432]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] At my table North got into the auction with 1S thus finding 5C. But just hearing another person who was faced with this auction when his partner didn't overcall.

    ATB

    [hv=d=e&v=n&n=sxxhakxdak9xxc8xx&w=saxhqxxdxxcaqjxxx&e=skqjtxxhxxxdxxcxx&s=s765hjt7xdqjtxckt]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 3♠ - P - 4♠ - X P - 4NT - P - 5♦ All Pass. 2 off.
  6. You're in 3rd seat at all vul, playing 2/1 and partner opens 1♦ (4+) You hold: [hv=d=n&v=b&s=saxhxxdj7xca87xxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] RHO intervenes with (1) 2♥, (2) 3♥ (both weak) What's your bid in both cases?
  7. is there any case for (1M)-p-(2M)-2NT as natural with people nowadays that tend to open light and raise light? I understand that some would highly prefer (1M)-p-(2M)-4m as a preempt therefore putting the 2NT as any 2-suiters, but if you bid 2NT the opponents may raise etc and you may not know where your fit is? I don't really know what's more frequent, and I'm guessing it's a style thing?
  8. Not sure if this kind of hand has been discussed before..but it came up a few days ago. [hv=d=w&v=b&s=sa7ha7daj94caq432]133|100|[/hv] West is the dealer and opens 1H. Partner passes and RHO jumps to 3H which is preemptive. Your bid. Does the scoring matter?
  9. Depends what responding style you play. Playing walsh, I will bid 1S.
  10. happy birthday mate. have a good one
  11. have a magnificent day ^^
  12. Definitely to play. I don't know how it can remotely imply spade support. Just remember, you can have all sorts of club hands with no other bid available except 3NT which is where you want to play.
  13. Actually I remember something else now. This hand was played amongst friends during a late night, and I didn't give it too much thought for it. After the heart switch I decided to risk playing 2 rounds of hearts ending in hand before deciding what to do with the trump suit. LHO had played H10 and H9 with RHO contributing a small heart and a higher one. I then didn't really understand the DA lead if there may have been other "attractive" leads available, hence I ran the T. I knew I was taking quite a position but thought it was now or never so I gave it a try :) I'm a one who rarely leads unsupported aces that doesn't appear very 'necessary' so maybe someone can enlighten me on it!
  14. Nar, I didn't intend any trickiness and I thought and still think a trump lead is a stand out lead as well. [hv=d=e&n=sjxxhxxxdqjxcqxxx&w=sqxxhkxxdkxxck97x&e=sakt97haqxxdtxxct&s=sxxht98da9xxcajxx]399|300|[/hv] I was in fact the declarer on this deal. The lead was ♦A and continued won in dummy. Spade to A, club up with Ace popping and another diamond, then a heart through which I won and ran the ♠10 for 1 off.
  15. 3D. But the more I think about it, pass is good too.
  16. I also like 1S especially at these colours. Many good things can happen as Justin had pointed out. Of course our hand's not perfect given the rotten shape, but the conditions just call out for an overcall. My overcalling style at the 1 level can be very light too, so having a constructive auction is not a problem for me.
  17. I'm going to bid my hand. 5D.
