  1. Easy 4D. I have a pretty hot hand so I will now show my shape and interest.
  2. Agree that 2C is the 'mainstream' bid. It allows the maximum space for the responder.
  3. 1. Disagree with 2♦. With this poor suit quality, I would not particularly want to show it. I would respond 1NT and over partner's 2x I would rebid 2♠. If my hand was ♠KT ♥xx ♦AJT9876 ♣Jx then that's definitely a 2♦ bid. 2. Not big on percentages myself, but intuition tells me to play on spades first. I know the math would be too much for me to do at the table, as the complication comes when you do start off with spades who will ruff it, and what holdings am I still able to make it if they ruffed with Ax etc. ♥Q lead is an interesting card. Could it really be hearts are 7-2? And what kind of opponents are we playing against? Against weaker ones it seems likely that they will try to cash a 2nd heart if I do play on spades. Also, if the bidding did go 1S-2D-3C-3D, I would now try 3H probing for 3NT.
  4. I like 3NT. Passing seems like I'm giving up against a favourable preempt. X would be my 2nd choice I suppose. I guess I'm just tempted by the 9 trick game and partner may still be able to provide a heart stopper as favourable preempts can be aggressive.

    lol

No, but I can remember it has come up in conversations with friends.. Yeah, dorky but it still kinda makes you laugh.
  6. Did South respond their 4card diamond suit as opposed to the 5card spade suit!?
  7. Stayman is alertable in Australia. Not anymore with the new laws.
  8. Agree. Welcome Jakob.
  9. 3♦-3♠-4♣-5♦
  10. I'm in favour of 2♥. Passing is too dangerous when 2 or even 3H can make and 1NT might be passed out.. Although X might be the most flexible bid, I think 2H will catch a fit more often than not
  11. Wow, I've got some hot cards! X for sure
  12. I would bid 2S. If 3C now is invitational I would still not bid it with my not-so-good-looking-8count as my suit quality isn't that great. If I don't know if 3C is weak or invitational now I guess will depend on what 1S-3C means. If it is some form of major raise, then I guess you have to discuss what this sequence now means. I remember I used to play, after a forcing NT, if responder had 2 bids available to bid a suit, a lower bid is weak and a jump bid is invitational. For Eg. 1S-1NT; 2C- 2D/H are weak, with 3D/H being invitational. If responder does not have 2 bids available but 1 like, 1S-1NT; 2S-, I decided to drop the weak hands. Obviously it isn't that great, but it was something simple.
  13. 2H, though a bit scary. Would certainly like a 6th heart, but can't have everything.
  14. What Roland said. There is a case for 4) where the balance of 1M is a bit stronger than 1m, but that's up to you.
  15. I would bid 3S as I'm tempted by my sharp cards of KQJ and AK with a singleton (decent hearts even!). Yes, it's true that 2S could be our last making spot but sometimes partner can have some 8-9counts and game could easily be making. I understand that it's certainly not that attractive NV, but I guess I'm suckered into it with my nice hand.
  16. 3C. Don't like passing with an ok unbal hand and 4 card support!
