  1. I bid 3C, and I agree with Mikeh's post. 2D is about card strength, but 3C is more about playing strength.
  2. 1. 3C, planning to show spade support later. You have good controls and good playing strength. I want to be in game. 2. 4C, perhaps 5C is better. 3. 4H. good side suit and trump support.
  3. I still bid 3N. If pd believes 4S is better, he can still bid it. I had a similar experience a few weeks ago. Pd has 4333 and we have just 9 tricks.
  4. I see nothing wrong with 3C, though I would pass pd's 2H since he is a passed hand.
  5. Pass. I dont see any hope for game.
  6. Playing Precision and 2c over 1D 100% gf, you hold: S:X H:QTXX D:AKT9XX C:QX YOU PD 1D 2C 2D 3D ?? (1) What do you bid after pd's 3D? (2) If you bid 3H and pd bid 3N, do you pass or not? (3) After pd's 3D, what should 4C and 5D show?
  7. 4H has already bid out your hand. I think now you have to dbl. Your hand is min and defensive in the context. If the CQ is changed to sQ, I would choose pass. But now I think it is wiser to dbl.
  8. This is probably not that easy. You should consider the field strength. Will other pairs holding same hand bid to slam? If yes, no matter how many overtricks you take you will get a bottom. So you should probably play fro 4-1 trump break and 4-1 diamond break.
  9. 1. I choose Pass. Perhaps a speculative Dbl here would work. 2. Pass, 4H might be a trap. 4S would be a phatom sacrifice
  10. 1N。If I want to try sth fancy, that is 2H.
  11. Play a small diamond toward dummy. LHO should have one of the spade ace or diamond king.
  12. 1. 4H. 2H would be too conservative. 2. Pass.
  13. White vs Red, you hold S:6543 H:54 D:AJ2 C:AJ43 W N E S -- 1D 2C ?? 1)What do you bid? 2)Suppose you passed, pd reopened with a dbl, East passes, what do you do now?
  14. Frances, I am not sure I understand this. Cannt pd think about what to play after winning club ace? Does pd have to win club ace immediately if it is a singleton and then think about what to do next?
  15. The hand is not good enough for a X followed by 2H over a possible 2C. Nothing is wrong with the bidding. Did I say 1H was wrong? With a single suit hand this surely does not qualify for dbl then 2 level bid, but with majors at least dbl is an alternative.
  16. 1H is not wrong, but perhaps we should give dbl a thought. We have the major suits and maximum for a 1-level overcall.
  17. 1.5D. Pd must have HA for the jump shift. 6C would be a lazy bid. grand is still possible. 2. I think we should pass here.
  18. 1. xfer to 2S, then pass. 2. pass. 3. 3N. 4. 5S
  19. And if declarers hand was AKJTxx KQJx --- Qxx instead? oops? aces don't always cash. I admit this is possible. But dont you think wiht that holding declarer is much less likely to duck CA in first round? He has ten sure tricks. He has 10 sure tricks in this layout too. LOL. What can I say?
  20. I don't think double then 3NT shows this hand. I think it's a difficult problem. I'm torn between 3NT and 4NT. I think i'll go with the latter. 4N is far too much. Give pd average 7HCP, I dont think you can make 4NT. Slam is very unlikely with this hand. I would never worry about it.
