  1. I will overcall 2H. The suit is weak, but I have good cards.
  2. I think I will bid 5C over 4H. 5H over 4H asks pd to bid on if he has club control. That is not my concern here. HOwever I saw the hand, so I cannot claim this is unbiased. Btw, I wouldnot worry too much if we miss this slam after opp's preempt.
  3. I think we can. Over 4C I double. If pd bid 4S, I bid 5D. If pd bid 4H then you can find 6H. I dont think overcalling 4D will come to my mind.
  4. This assessment is fair I think. A beginner or intermediate dare not do that, opening 1C light and then bid 5H. A world class player has discpline not do that. Only an advanced yet not good enough player will have nuts for that. But i think you should not care too much if he is only a pick up pd. After all, this is only a game.
  5. hehe, great hand for Zar point system. I would not open this hand. If we change the space suit to AT987x, i may open it.
  6. pass. this is a very bad hand for balancing. If they bid 2H and I hold spade suit, i might consider balancing. But with heart suit I will never balance
  7. Raise to 4H seems normal. Doesnt it? Perhaps a fake cue of 4D?
  8. It is on page 62 of Woolsey's book, in the section about 7 cards trump fit. It is not the same hand, but very instructive.
  9. I think pass 3S is too conservative. 3N seems the only choice. It could cause some disaster but i dont think that is my excuse.
  10. wow really what page is this I got to look this one up. which page i cannt remember. But i am sure you can find it. It is in the chapter about 4-3 fit.
  11. Abosolutely 2C. Too dangerous to open 1H. I dont want to get passed. After 3N, definitely 4D. Actually I think I will just jump to 6D.
  12. I like 3D too. I want to show where my strength is and that will help pd to make a wise decision.
  13. 2H. If pd raise you are willing to play in 4H. This 4-3 fit will often play better than 5-3 spade fit. In the book 'Matchpoint' there is a similar example given by author.
  14. I agree with 2H. No point to bid 3N, pd will bid it if it is the right contract. Pd may bid 3C and then I can rebid 3S. Whatever pd do we always have a nice choice later.
  15. i am worrying if pd will overbid with the hand he held. Didnt he push to 6h after your 3H?
  16. LHO passed 2N. He must have nothing, I think conservative D lead is better.
  17. I would just jump to 6H and forget about science.
  18. Very good analysis. Again it shows waht important is logic, not signal.
  19. Just bid 3S. If pd has spade suport, he will give you a raise. If he doesnt have, then 3S may go down a lot.
  20. Ok, let me explain. If you bid 3S, then pd may bid 4S with maximum. Besides, right decision doesnot mean right result. The reason why i say pass is correct is that it is correct in the long run, if you trust pd and opps. More important, I dont think discussing this kind hand wont help much. Next time you will find bidding 3S will cost you the match.
  21. I would say this shows why pass is correct. Yes, pd has a maximum for his pass. What if he has a min for his 1S bid? Then bidding 3S would be a disaster.
  22. that 1N should be a warning to you. If you bid 3S, you will go down for sure. Bidding 3S is very wrong. I would rather dbl than bid 3S. My choice is pass. I expect them to make one overtrick.
