  1. Oops should check my records a bit closer before posting a hand it was AQTxxx for the hearts
  2. [hv=n=sxxhxxxdkqxxxckqx&s=skqjtxxhaqtxxxdca]133|200|[/hv] At the table it went 1S 1NT 4H 4NT 5S Down 1 with KJx ♥ being behind the strong hand. We use a second negative to deny more than one trick after a 2♣ opener so the bidding after 2C would be 2C 2D 2S 3D ??? The 2D being more of a waiting bid and 3D showing Diamonds and 1.5+ tricks. Any sensible way of keeping at the 4 level now?
  3. We do not play NMF. 3D is not forcing, to force P would have to bid 3C, 4D etc
  4. [hv=d=s&v=n&s=skqjtxxhaqjxxxdca]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] You are lucky enough to deal yourself this monster. What is your bidding plan playing a natural 2/1 system
  5. [hv=d=w&v=e&s=sxxhtxxdajtcaxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Bidding (1H) P (2D) 2S (3H) P (4D) P (4H) ? Do you double here IMP scoring? If not what extra would you need before you doubled? Would playing MP's make any difference? And finally, there was a massive pause before East bid 4D, would this effect your bidding?
  6. [hv=d=n&s=sxxhaqxxxxdqxcxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Bidding has gone 1D 1H 1S 2H 3D Playing a fairly standard 2/1 system
  7. [hv=d=n&v=b&s=sqxxhqxxdxckjtxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] North opens 1♣ (P) 3♣ (P) 3♦ (X) ? What should I bid now and why? 3♣ was an inverted minor bid promising 5♣'s and less than 9 points 3♦ was a stop show looking for 3NT
  8. [hv=d=w&v=e&n=saxxxhajxxdxxxckt&s=sxxxxhxxdqjtxxxcx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Bidding Starting with West (1♣) X (3NT) 4D (5♣) P (P) 5D (P) P (X) Should north have doubled the 5♣ bid? With no double there should south have bid 5♦, bearing in mind the fav vun?
  9. Pass. Why take action with a weak hand over a pre-empt?
  10. Does it really matter what you actually have when you make a natural bid, or should that be a bid that your partner expects to show something natural? As far as I understand you only have to highlight the possibility of a singleton if you make such bids frequently enough. What is frequently enough to make it note worthy is another question, but once or twice per year is hardly frequently.
  11. Problem we faced on this hand was Opener had 2+ Q♥ and club to the AK did not help the chances of making. What are the continuations after KC here with 3S, Turbo start with denial cues? I assume steps for 03, 14, (or 14, 30), 2 W/O, 2 with but what is the Turbo start bit?
  12. [hv=d=n&v=n&s=sjxxxxhxdajckjxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Playing 2/1 with 2♣ being your strong bid, what is your bid after 2 passes.
  13. [hv=d=n&s=sxhakjtxxxdkxcxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Playing 2/1 15-17 NT Partner Opens 1NT You choose to transfer into ♥. Partner super accepts showing 17 points 4 ♥ and no outside good 4 card suit. How do you continue? Would start with transfer or 3♥ (slam try). For note we do not play any transefers at the 4 level.
  14. Last night I had the sequence 1H (P) P (1S) 3H First question, should partner bid on with the following red v red xxx xx T98xx Axx In the PM we could not answer the following, would like suggestions what do the following sequences show. 1H (P) P (1S) 3H 1H (P) P (1S) X (P) 2C/D (P) 2/3H 1H (P) P (1S) 2S (P) 3C/D (P) 3H
  15. After the 4th suit has been used below 2NT to show a minimum hand, what bids are forcing by opener? Also does the negative bid say anything about responders shape? e.g would you use a negative bid holding Jxxx Qxxxx QJx x If the bidding has gone 1C - 1H 2S I have had a quick look on the net about Ingberman, but finding it hard to find any good pages that go into much detail, also very few mention replacing the 2NT with the fourth suit when possible below 2NT.
  16. First thought was to lead the ♥A. But I could not see where this trick would go without strange distribution in the minors as well. I always seem to pick the wrong time to lead Ace from Axxx, so that leaves me with a diamond.
  17. Bidding has gone 1D - 1H 2D - 3C 3D - 3S 4C - 4H ... We are learning 2 over 1, from the Mike Lawrence CD. few questions here. 1) Was the 3C bid GF. 2) If not, would I be right in assuming 3H would be forcing, showing something like 6-5 in H/C 3) When did we set a suit? 4) Should 3S be almost like a FSF bid mainly asking for a spade stop for NT. 5) Does the next bid after a FSF bid always set the suit (unless we end up in NT)
  18. You are forgetting the 'Ok, make this your last hand then do the dishes' part of angry wife.
  19. [hv=d=s&v=b&s=skjt9xxxxhxxdxxcx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] What is your bid as dealer? Some system stuff 2S is weak (5-9) with 6+ cards in spades 4S is to play, we do not anything to show the difference between a poor 4S open and a good one.
  20. My thoughts on bidding Ogust was to hope for a bad suit good points reply (2♥) and then bid spades. I still cannot make a hand that would open week in first seat that has all the covers needed to stop the hand requiring a finesse to make slam. I did not mention our systems as they are very basic at the moment and am interested to here what people may suggest I should add to our system. When I looked at my hand I could see 5 losers, it is a fairly safe bet that P could cover the heart loser. Am I being pessimistic in thinking that he could not cover any others (even knowing he may have 6-7 points, or even 5 on a sunny day)? We used to use the 2NT bid to ask where outside values lay, is there a good way of getting both this and Ogust into a system?
  21. Do we have to remember all these AS WELL as a system?
  22. Slam was never in my thoughts. I was more thinking of either 3H, 4H or 4S.
  23. [hv=s=saqjtxxxhaqtdqjcx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Whats your plan on this one after Partner opens a wk 2 in Hearts? If you enquire he has a poor suit and 6/7 points.
  24. oops I was still thinking about going badly off in a grand the other day. Yes 5 tricks is 4 off.
  25. I think it is 5 off, still better than 1430, 1460 or a grand against. Depends, of course, if you think your team mates will get to a slam.
