  1. Try 2C. Then 2H bars partner if insufficient called.
  2. Try Pass: 6-8 pts. It will almost never happen we go down in 1M when we could make 4M. 1NT: 8-10 0-2 support. Hand is near invite, support is questionable. 2M: 8-10, 3-support. Hand is near invite, this Major is fit.
  3. We are getting 4xS + 4XC +3xD +1xH or some other combination??
  4. What structure for other bids? What would immediate X,3M,4M,4D,4C show? What is left in 3N? What does X, then 3N mean? Control: D:Ax when 3N: D:QJx --no control? Some other distinguish?
  5. 1S-2S <??> We found S-fit no chance we mis-bid this hand. 3H can only hope to induce an underbid or overbid. Much less likely to gain. 1S-1N <??> We show no fit, suggest no fit, suggest little power. 3H can hope over-/under-/mis-bid quite likely. Near sure to gain. Raise with fit. It works.
  6. Partition strong hands into 1C/1D. Eg. Spades or Spades + 2nd into 1C; Hearts or Hearts + minor into 1D. This immensely eases the cases to untangle when opponents obstruct. Even to the point of 1C <interfere> X* = *no S-fit (the assumed major of partner). Certainly decide when are forcing passes ON. Try below 2S ON --we can make something, I bet. Above 3S ON --they are over the hcp-likely making, I bet. I play immediate xfers are GF --generously. Delayed xfers to get into this suit if cheap enough --partner is warned I didn't see game but he may.
  7. Partner no negX, no 2H. I have AKQ +A +K = a trick above minimum in hcp, and S-void with 6-suit. I'll try 4N --partner knows 5D unless C>>D(5-5 bids 5C).
  8. Do opponents ever "baby" psych 1M over T/O dbl? How to ever find M-fit if not natural? Now if you ask how strong: F1, GF, invNF that's a real kettle of worms.
  9. Having bet to sandbag my 7xS suit on opening round, bet that was winner. Go cheap!
  10. Agree CSGibson. If I were going to 3S, I want to show my clubs to alert partner CAQ are gold; DAKJ not much. But 3xH losers (the death-kiss in competing), DQ unguarded ain't going up. Doesn't 2S leave partner his game tries? If he wants Which way using 2NT artificial + negX + 3H Q-bid shows C-suit fit bid? Immediate 3C? 2N, negX, Q then 3S? NO way to show fit non-jump?
  11. When do you finally quit bidding with no hope of game? Not surely 2S as 3C may be better (or 3H now forced). Hope wild guess 2S is better than partner's 2H guess? Hope they reopen over 2H, so they play misfit? Cannot happen when we bid up. I'd guess the swings by pass 2H matches the roundabouts when 2S is bid. Hate lotta bidding without stuff --that's my rant.
  12. Show D-lead desired and H-fit (fit bid 4D; I xfer then 4H). 3-support is ruffing spades --OK deviation even if 4xH. How much less/more decided by DT. I have expected 2xDT, so likely 4S fails. Fewer DT and pass, hoping they miss 4S Vul game. Same in IMP's, but more certainty 'don't bounce them into 4S game'.
  13. T/O dbl, then 2nd dbl to alert partner "this may still be our hand. Penalties? M-game?" He said NO WAY! with 2D. I quit.
  14. S:3-2 or restricted choice J,10 single with LHO to not lose a spade + DA. And C:AKJ for two H-pitches or lucky H's. OK, I prefer to be in 6S, but not worth fretting this one.
  15. If 2H promises no game (other bids if invite+), aren't we discussing much ado about maybe 3 IMP when 2S>2H?
  16. 1st. Jammer 2D with hearts --intending to get above their 1S opener seems to fit weak-obstruct intent better. Spades just bids spades at appropriate level. 2nd. Have 2NT as similar with some other non-spades weak-obstruct hands. The two could partition the weak-obstruct quite well. 3rd. Disallow much in the other Major --oM:Jx is max expected. Then, partner may often make good guesses (with little fear -800) to preempt this auction.
  17. Having decided this hand is 1C and 2D reverse, bid it out. 4D.
  18. Yeah, yeah. But will partner 6C with H:xx, D:A(x..), C:Qxxx? Should he?
  19. Saying "advanced" or "expert" in a pick-up partnership is oxymoronic. The very reason for advanced/expert is PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT. Is it possible to believe "I'm expert so I don't need to know what WE are meaning"?
  20. 5 losers with 5 controls is good. One loser/control deviation allowed with body cards/extra length in 2-suits. Void is exceptional. Count 2-3 controls for a void, especially if a cheap rebid shows partner this void when he shows slammy stuff. (I use an "expected" void for slam tries --unless the catchall advance is bid. Eg. Here Michaels Q would "expect" C-void if big rebid. So I repeat Q with D-void slammy.)
  21. Preempt with H-long/good vs. spades, even 6-suit deviation 3H/4H. Intend to out bid their hearts if hearts switched with spades.
  22. AK + AK in my 5-4 persuades me to reverse. Shy but tops where partner expects them if he's looking up. He should be well placed for a good decision: game/no? where? slam?
  23. Do I have a Lebensohl-like 3N denies S-stop. Double suggests S-stop or will show unilateral hand next. Which (X, 3N, new suit) shows 4xH, which denies 4xH? I think 4D immediate denies S-stop, suggests 4xH unless unilateral shown next.
  24. Have I shown a max-pass with 1N? I'm done if partner is not going up.
  25. 3xDT (D:AK +H:A), I guess double.
