  1. Try filtering Roudi's rules for those you expect you get. Subdivided by 5-3 missing Q/K/A/J; then 4-4; 4-3; 6-2; .. Second filter for "surprise! this one isn't instinctive to me". Then test yourself on the majority for third filter "ones I missed" Imprint these.
  2. Have denied fit to neg-X, have shown topped long clubs. Now Dbl shows DT. Message complete.
  3. Using no space suggests I am the big dog in this auction. Nope 1H. Jump 2H suggests I'm a yapping dog - no other suit interest. Yup 2H. Persuaded only because of S-short.
  4. What is not known by partner? Opening lead -> not top heart; CK to CA -> all club honors are seen; I raised ->D-stuff; Spades are as they are(SK on/off). What does attitude add? Count at least adds CQ cashes/not. Granted not many partnerships discuss 'what is not known?' for their signaling scheme exceptions. Just applying simple rules saves memory.
  5. Even more notable ACBL GCC allows CRASH against 1C that may be 2-card club as not a 'natural' bid. No one seems to take advantage of throwing sand into an auction they start 1C: 2-7xC, 0-6xD, 0-5xH, 0-5xS, and 12-21 hcp. Haven't they got a myriad of cases to untangle? Don't we CRASHing expect a fit in pass/correct/not yet fashion?
  6. I play FARTP: ForceAttackRuffTrumpPassive in that order. So when I discourage it discourages the FARTP aspect started. Let partner 'see' what change I hope for -not some conventionalized Obvious Switch.
  7. cherdanno, Why am 1 bidding 2D then 2S/3S/4S? Because I like 5D over 4S? Foolish! I stand by 2D then show spades cheaply shows stand alone spades with D-help needed.
  8. How about 2D, then rebid 2S/3S/4S cheaply. This tells partner D-help is wanted; spades can stand nearly alone.
  9. Push to red slam - hope they sac if it is failing. Convert 5C to 5D - into partner's lap.
  10. Like SA, SQ to SK. Are trumps out? SK +HK losers. East has 1,2? West has 1,2?
  11. As I see it, there is great conflict between the COMPETITORS and the SOLVERS. COMP wants the contest to be the endall: won regional proves my value. SOLV wants the problems solved: when is right singleton, helping honor, similar. I'm in the SOLVERS camp. Always and truly.
  12. Would 5S show only interest in Majors slam try?
  13. Having made a deviating reopening 2H (2xK bal in there?) and dreams-come-true a raise, never pass 3S-x by a partner who took no direct action over 1S. Describe this hand as pure offense 4H.
  14. Worth one try with 2xA +C-single. I show C-short after Stayman response 4C. Now partner's 4D is enough to try key ask.
  15. As aquahombre, was partner there? He didn't sac seeing defense(maybe only holding overtrick) or seeing too expensive or hoping they pushed unlucky.
  16. As I play, partner has already shown his distributional hand. 6xD with single, 4xS with some shape. So all that's left is flattish non-descript. Double in case he has 0-2xS and tries penalty with low hope to make 2S/3D.
  17. Exactly. Whatever happen to unrestricted games? Beginners could play convention-limited games, and open games were free for all. The only downside to bridge is unusual would have to be well documented to answer any BIT. Similar as hesitate odd/even signals "showed" wrong parity signal. Document that even without that BIT my switch(continue) was what our partnership does. Passed hand splinter cannot be GF, but some will force game anyway - what do they look like? So acted as documented, not as BIT. The forcing pass (Slawinski) wasn't difficult to defend the Pass nor fert. But their point range for non fert/pass hit near the break even value - big advantage. Let alone the shapes partition should have been tested.
  18. Xfer to C; show H-short. Partner has the helm.
  19. Does partner's 2S show a hand that quite improves with support? I have that. Or does 2S show short of DT for X, then Spades, but in there anyway.
  20. Do not believe there is a penalty bonanza here. Maybe 4S=, 4S-1. Close. Should I double in dis-belief? Let's see opponents make 9,10 tricks - challenge.
  21. A penalty bonanza here? Naw, maybe 4S-1, 4S=, very rare >4S-2. Pass.
  22. Pass. Unexceptional min bal opener - partner heard that. If a raise is this ambiguous, what does an ensuing auction mean? When do I get minimum across? When do I get bal defensive across? I want a raise(suggest raise) to say offensive hand at least!!
  23. Anyone have copy of hammick's site? He had a paper on slam types: bal-power, 2-suits, ruffs, X-ruffs with postulated frequency. That at least addresses the spectrum of cases. I lost my copy in a system crash.
  24. May I self-splinter 4D, then 5N as GSF asking 2xH-tops to show 6H or 7H?
  25. Would RHO=EAST pitch S-10 sometimes? "seeing" S-Qx partner OR "faking" S-Qx?
