  1. Look up Soloway Jump Shifts for a reasonable partition of strong responding. Here, I can only wonder why bid this hand the same as puddin' raise? What showed a solid 6xD?
  2. As little as C-QJx and H-stop to make 3N a favorite and not in this auction? Let alone what mysticism in reopening this not-a-2C-overcall forces. Tell me a working scheme exists? I'd be astounded to hear such.
  3. From where ya'all start this sounds needed agreement/discussion. I cut my teeth on Swiss raises (not just 4C/4D artificial, but 24 paths 1S to 4S, 28 from 1H to 4H - give the different paths different nuances ..THEN.. -you do the cases!)
  4. I'd play 2H as weak in H, or strong something.

As an aside, I advise going gut feeling on these types of decision. Specifically, always be aggressive in bidding (or conservative in passing) then at least you get a sense of whether you need to tame down or ratchet up. Or like where your results get you. Even noting too small a sample to have reliable evidence, this at least tunes to your decisions. A know thyself attempt.
  6. Won't partner take another bid with 10-11 over 2H? What am I missing? Good suit to be trumps if partial, partner upping most 10+ hands if game.
  7. Can partner have H-AJx + C-Kx or H-Jxxx + C-K? Both look like 4H makes. Missing CK makes 3H ugly. Would 3C then 3H over 3D save misfit into 4C often enough?
  8. 2NT with a 10-4th stop and suggesting no 4xH? I try X, gulp if 3D then 3N.
  9. Partner guesses me C-short and warns against higher with X. Do I have unusual enough to countermand that? NO.
  10. Can I look at SK hoping next S9 finesse wins then needing only 1 more luck? C-block or switch forced, DQ wins, HJ falls. 2xS gets discards. Will I read well?
  11. After my 1m force, Pass forces at 2-level -> we likely have some reasonable contract and Pass forces at 4-level -> opener likely has enough DT to set. But 3-level is "best guess" -> offensive hands bid, bad hands quits, DTs X. Also use transfers here to assure a 2nd bid on slammy while still low.
  12. They surrender the auction on their strong: 15-20 without M?? Get to 2M often! Let them try to untangle stops, tricks, after we set up our defense. Canape? Open up jump overcall in other Major -wide ranging values as the ambiguity is in our favor. The rest looks to play regular competing methods. Few new inferences.
  13. To right-side 6NT/7NT if that might be considered? To take some just-blast grand and some won't be otherwise persuaded from small slam? What is traded off? Isn't 5S control-bid already suggesting grand? I see potential, but fill in the hand types intended to gain.
  14. 5C. I'm catching partner with S-xxx HAQ109xx D-xx C-K10. He sees double fit for 6H.
  15. 5D here is very considerate. "Opponents, you didn't bid your 6S so here is 1400 for you."
  16. Shouldn't there have been redouble to outscore 6H on?
  17. My big like is ONE SCHEME. No need for "is this bid forcing in this auction?" No need for gimmick conventions to get my suit in. Keep signoff xfers "I must play this suit." Keep 2-bid raises: xfer then raise is help suit which would be unshowable. Have xfer raise for better DT than raise or jump raise. Have control xfer for slam try Q-bid next. Maybe the double gets loaded with not neg-X cases. A small price.
  18. Tip-o-the-hat: opponents probably got this one right. Pass.
  19. I like X to clarify other Major: 4coM or oM:AQx as that is most likely what partner wants to know. Here 4C denies 4xS. And I bid so useful 10-ish. No Q-bid, no jump.
  20. Yeah, yeah IF SCAN starts early. But that is always winning over RKCB 4N, 4x.
  21. Yeah 2H. A 19 with wasted SJ, but primes. Partner's response will certainly be in the ball park now.
  22. 2-way double wins. Director called by opponents damaged. How do you convince that the decision to pass/bid after double wasn't influenced? Won't you get some logical alternative adjustment? Similar to odd-even signals when a BIT occurs without the right parity card. Try to justify the thinking pause as other than alerting partner to 'wrong parity' signal doesn't mean what it ostensibly does mean.
  23. An 8-suit to KQ treated as good 6-suit on which I would try 3C/4C? This has to be different. Bid 5C.
