How does south know that north has 5 hearts instead of 6? After the play of the Jack, north will "know" that declarer has the Queen and a second heart will cash. It seems to me that North should have made whichever honor lead asks for count and south should give honest count. By playing J♥, it implies No A♠, This is in relation with number cards in dummy. If you have 6 card ♥ with no A♠, they can make 6♣ anyway. Honoest count is not helpful here. How many tricks available in ♥ and A♠ location is the only issue, I think. Q♥ should show A♠.
-
6♣ bid is based on singleton suit somewhere. Looking at dummy, ♥ singleton is possible, so ♠shift. If South has KQxxx QJx in the majors? With QJx ♥, Play J♥ indicating another trick in ♥available to set. This is playing standard signal. Playing Q♥ to show the possession of J♥ is not important, since only one more trick needed to set. If South has QJ♥ stiff, still plays J♥. Unusual high/low cards should be reserved for obvious shift somewhere principle. Anyway, this is my opinion.

To lure more players to play more bridge, ACBL should award Masterpoint for all total number of hands played. Suggestion: For every100 hands played, Award is 1 masterpoint. For every 10,000hands, Bonus award is 100 masterpoint. Hands played should consider both online games and club games. The more hands played, gains more experience and should be recognized. ACBL should announce the Top 10 players who played most hands for each month in the bridge bulletin. BBO should announce the player who played most number of hands in each month. Question? Will it create a movement in the total masterpoint ranking list faster? Will it create a bad feeling, having played 50,000+ hands, achieved nothing?

Board 23 bidding is going on, but I am holding brd 24 hand and bidding accordingly. I am bidding with wrong set of cards. Bidding ends and Partner leads and I realized that I am holding wrong cards. I put back the brd 24 hands and picked up brd 23 hands. Now what? On-line games, this will not happen.

I just created a hand and saved it and it creates a one month older name.

http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?sho...30entry380678 I tried to do this in handviewer and save it MY hand Folder. It shows as 2009-6-15. Then I tried to load this in teaching table and checked thru GIB to see the results. Then I saved it as new hand with variations of plays. Link to the hand only. 5C Hand It shows as 2009-6-15 with different time. Is it not supposed to show 2009-7-15 today's date?

Click to see the hand. Bidding Question? 2♦ = Weak 2 opening points and 4+4+ in both majors. Is 2♦ opening allowed as weak 2 in both majors in ACBL speedball tournament?

It looks like I can not have both ACBL convention card and Full disclosure convention card with the same partner. Program shows only one type of convention card with the same partner. Also, Like to see 10 text line box to write some system notes in ACBL convention card.

Where can I find archived BBO old news?

Suggestion for a new method of master point given in a tournament. Everybody should be given a master point. Top 50% bracket gets +(Plus) masterpoint. Bottom 50% bracket gets - (minus) masterpoint. For the ranking of one player cumulative masterpoint score is accounted. No player can never go below Zero total masterpoint. or 300 or some preset number. By taking away the masterpoint for finishing the below the par limit will make it interesting to the playing level, I think. In order to retain the same level of ranking, it is required to play well. The current form of the player can be established. Can Fight A player be downgraded to B with this method? How will it affect the ACBL ranking with this method?

One Hand from finals 2009 USBC Can someone explain this bidding?
-
There are two modes of displaying the cards. 1) Display cards as picture of the cards. 2) Display cards as hand diagram I wonder in the hand diagram mode, if all the letters and numbers are shown in red color for ♥ and ♦, what will it give to the different perspective view. I am referring to the cards followed by suit symbol. This will match the picture of the cards. Currently all shows in black color.

How about a table with GIB in all 4 seats for viewing purpose? or Watch 3 seats GIB and a player who rents and plays that in one seat. Some can learn bidding by GIB, because bids are annotated. Some can learn play from GIB.

Favorite NT Defense
A2003 replied to mtvesuvius's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Click here: Various Defenses to 1NT MONK is not listed there: MONK= Major oriented NT killer 2♣= Both majors 2♦= One 5 card major + side 4+minor 2♥= 6+cards♥ 2♠= 6+cards♠ Dbl= 5 card major (5332) OR strong hand OR one long suit minor * 2♣ shows both majors, 5=4 or 5=5 or better. 2♣ is far preferable to 2♦ for this purpose, since partner can bid 2♦ (or double a 2♦ by opener's partner) to show no preference, equal major suit lengths. If he has a preference he bids it. This ensures the partnership will find the best fit when overcaller is 5=4 (when partner is 3=3 he bids 2♦). * 2♦ shows a 5-card major with a side 4+ minor. Responses are somewhat similar to Multi 2♦ responses. The partnership uses pass or correct principles, and will usually respond 2♥ which is pass or correct to 2♠. 2♠ is pass or correct (and shows heart interest). 2NT asks for minor-suit, 3♥ is preemptive in BOTH majors. Other bids are natural. * 2♥ and 2♠ are natural, and show 6+ cards. That leaves hands with long minors, very strong hands, and 5332 major-suit hands. MONK uses Double to show one of those hands. Partner will usually bid 2♣ pass or correct, and overcaller will normally pass with clubs, bid 2♦ with diamonds, or bid 2♥/♠ with 5332 pattern. With a suitably strong hand, partner can convert the double to penalties. If overcaller has a very strong hand, he shows it by bidding 2NT or his suit at the 3-level. If responder bids before advancer, then any subsequent double by overcaller shows the strong hand. -
I think there's a bug in the forum software's word wrap function. When I quote your original message and test in the Preview Post Mode, like testing the Link, it works in the preview mode only. But when you post the message in the forum, it gives blank template. Some of the characters in your embedded link is changing.

I think there's a bug in the forum software's word wrap function that's putting an unwanted end of line character in your embedded link which causes hand viewer to gag. When I quote your post and click on the embedded link in <Preview Post> I can step through the play. Congrats to you and your team mates btw. :) I see that. when I quote the message, it works in the "Preview Post" mode, when I post the message, it does not work in the forum.

This is cool!. I was able to send this thru email. Is it normal, when I include the comments with in {.…...}, it converts all the spaces to "%20". Another bridge hand I have the entire hand play included in this, but for some reason it is not showing up in this thread. But it shows up when I cut and paste in the web address.

Suggestion: Suggest to add last update date and time to the hand viewer documentation. That way it is clear that this is the latest document. Handviewer Documents

where do you write in the convention card?

Is there a bug? Partnership bidding practice-click to view Explanation of the bid of 5H is not visible completely in the bidding practice. When saved as hand viewer link then only, it is visible. Further, the explanation not agreeing with the hand pattern and point count. When undo is done at 4NT, the bidding explanation disappears. =================================== When I try to load played hands in the option menu, I click on recent tournaments, my hands, it loads board 1, it is not clear how to load the follow up hands.
-
Partnership bidding: During the practice bidding, rewind button may be added to help the bidding sequence to start all over. This will help to minimize to load the same hand. Saves several clicks to load the file again from the saved folder.
-
Partnership bidding: During the practice bidding, when UNDO is done to try different bidding sequence, the meaning of the bid disappears and cannot retrieve back the message.
-
Very good idea. It should also give a choice. 4321 method or Zar point system 6421 method. It will only improve the bridge expertise. May be some other counting method will emerge.

If the tournaments well attended like 120+ tables Suggest to add 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 tournaments for late comers. Or floating tournament any time when it is filled for 16+ tables.
