  1. No break between the games. Suggest to stagger the games by 15-30 minutes at least. This will allow to take a break or do something else.
  2. seems a lot of tournaments require players to announce systems and carding. perhaps it would be good if each pair had to fill out just those two lines of information in some form whenever they sign up for a tournament and then that information would either be printed to the screen after each round change or the would be an area of the screen where one could hover to get it (kind of like a profile...) This is not happening at the tournament by lots of teams. There are lots of players are not familiar where to look at the carding in full disclosure convention card. Recommend software to force to write something upon arrival at the table for each round. It saves time for players to retype every round and the opponents need not have to ask for that information. This will be for some improvement. Mainly interested in NT range and lead and discard carding agreement in advance. This will allow to prepare for some defense in advance. Playing in some fast timed tournament, there is no time to do all this.
  3. Why is speedball game is popular for ACBL tournaments? Is it good for bridge to play at this pace? Looking at the record, there are lot of unfinished boards at each round for board 3, board 6, board 9 and board 12. Each unfinished teams get average score for unplayed hands and it affects other teams score also. There are some regular games getting canceled. It appears 10-15 minutes more time needed to finish all the boards for all the teams.
  4. Recommend Pre-Alert Box. This will pop-up whenever the new round starts. Each team can write about 6 lines. something like below: "Hi all. We are playing 2/1 or precision or whatever system. Leads: UDCA or standard or whatever Discards: odd/even or high/low or whatever Opening NT range: 13-15 or whatever Misc:................." This will minimize or help the players writing this every round to each team. Mistakes in writing and correction in spelling can be avoided. If this is made mandatory, then, it will also help and improve the defense. Right now, very few teams announce all these information to the opponents before the beginning of the tournament. Saves time for the players and also make everyone to think it is important before the game announcement.
  5. Full disclosure type convention card may be prepared for each team in advance. This may be a slow process till each team prepares one. By whom: I have no answer. This can be loaded by the operators. This will explain the meaning of each bids. This will also help commentators the meaning of the bids instead of speculating. Also, this will give much better presentation and save commentators time.
  6. As of today, Sept 18, 2007; 1PM Number of players participated: unknown; over 17483 Number of players got master points: 17,483 Master points awarded: 321,407.4 Can this be compared to any single bridge clubs?
  7. I'm also experiencing the issue as disconnection when I try to log in bbotv thru user id. If I log thru anonymously, I am able to sustain. If I am logged on thru bbotv anonymous many times, I can launch as many windows thru launch bbotv. I am able to watch vugraph close room and open room simultaneously. This is neat and interesting to watch both room plays next to each other. Some overlap for one hand position cards. Also, BBO program vugraph in the background is also possible to view. Resizing the pop-up windows to suit screen is bit tricky. Prefer card layout diagram as left oriented position instead of center position. Then resizing is bit easier. Works better in display deal as hand diagram. Players names show up in regular vugraph in BBO program. In bbotv, Players are mentioned as east, west, north and south and no names show up in the bbotv during vugraph.
  8. Display deals using hand diagram: Red color and black color for suit symbols are very good . Right click, then select, Display using picture of cards: Red color and black color for suit symbols are Not very good. Red colors are blended. Hard to distinguish between ♦ and ♥. Lines between the cards are thin and thick between the cards.
  9. Opp is playing natural system. The meaning of the following bid if undiscussed: 1NT Natural 15-17 with ♣ and ♥ stopped 2♣ Michaels for majors 2♥ Natural ♥ suit 2NT Extreme distribution ♦ and ♠
  10. FD convention card size is limited to memory size. suggestion: Have two FD convention cards: one: when we open second: When opponents open (presently known as constructive in the program) Develop a toggle button switch to use either one. This will allow to use more information.
  11. BBO program is on, click on CONV. , Workconvention card Then files opens with two sections as "Default convention cards" and "Your convention cards". There are 40 files showing up in "Your convention cards" section. Need help in deleting the files showing up in this section. It is confusing to select the files I want. I want to keep only 5 to show up in this section. Any help, Thanks.
  12. The list of the scores played for 53 tables is at the bottom. Refer: BBO Home page/other bridge activities/Bridge Library/English/Help! How to use this site/Scoring Part II It conflicts with the imps awarded at the tournament. Imp scoring is calculated from the difference and rounded in full Numbers and awarded 1 through 24 using international match point scale table. It is not clear what it is comparing to for the difference to calculate for international match point scale table. Why Fractions are awarded? If I Play in section 3, is it comparing the score with section 1 Top score for the difference? What is maximum imp you can get for one hand in this computer scoring method? Table score IMPS 1 400 9.56 2 300 8.06 3 300 8.06 4 300 8.06 5 300 8.06 6 300 8.06 7 300 8.06 8 200 6.13 9 200 6.13 10 200 6.13 11 200 6.13 12 100 4.1 13 100 4.1 14 100 4.1 15 100 4.1 16 100 4.1 17 100 4.1 18 100 4.1 19 100 4.1 20 100 4.1 21 100 4.1 22 100 4.1 23 100 4.1 24 -110 0.1 25 -110 0.1 26 -110 0.1 27 -110 0.1 28 -110 0.1 29 -110 0.1 30 -110 0.1 31 -110 0.1 32 -120 -0.31 33 -130 -0.58 34 -130 -0.58 35 -130 -0.58 36 -130 -0.58 37 -150 -0.79 38 -180 -1.56 39 -200 -1.9 40 -600 -8.42 41 -600 -8.42 42 -600 -8.42 43 -600 -8.42 44 -600 -8.42 45 -600 -8.42 46 -600 -8.42 47 -600 -8.42 48 -630 -8.94 49 -630 -8.94 50 -630 -8.94 51 -630 -8.94 52 -800 -11.17 53 -800 -11.17
  13. ACBL Director does not recognize Full disclosure convention card and its explanations. It is required to alert and explain in ALERT BOX in spite of what it says in Full disclosure convention card. This is in addition to what it says in Full disclosure convention card explanations. ACBL Director Gweny ruled against me for ave- for not doing this on couple of occasions. TD says "THIS IS NOT TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE." in capital letters. To me, it is redundant information and losing concentration in the play and bid area. Someone suggested me this: for 1D bid 0-7 Any distribution or 8+ with any 4441 distribution So, it is difficult to find appropriate wording to enter in alert box when faced with unusual bidding. Everyone explains in their own way to which there is always some complain. I am not often looking closely at the chat area when I am concentrating on the bid and play area, sound is off when I play.
  14. Answer to curious question: 1st tank is due to typing long lines, correcting spelling and adding spaces, then comparing the hand with the description of what I wrote in the alert box. I typed 0-7 or impossible negative 8+4441 2nd tank, forgot what I should bid after that took while to figure that. Because I know I was late in bidding 1st time. About comment: you didn’t know if partner would remember Don't care about partner, First I am concerned of my problem in describing my hand well. For us this hand impossible negative came after 9 months, may be partnership bidding table. There is no hidden 5 card suit, IF 5 more cards and positive response we bid that suit. How many words can be typed in the alert box?
  15. ACBL director send this following message at the beginning of the tournament. ♥♥ Remember, only those conventions on the ACBL General Convention Chart are allowed in this ACBL game, please keep this in mind when bidding. Sorry, but this means NO multi, NO ... Wilkosz ♥♥ What is wilkosz? This is not in ACBL encyclopedia. One player opens 2D announced as 18-19 balanced hand, the partner say 2S as transfer to 2NT, then 3NT. What convention is this? Is this falls under general convention chart? Is transfer precision method falls under ACBL general convention chart? Is there any List available for all the conventions that are allowed under ACBL general convention chart? I see Not allowed as two conventions: MULTI 2D and Wilkosz.
  16. Is there any other game which disallows spectators? Kibitzers should be allowed back to watch if all four players agree to allow them to watch. Just an idea. You want to bring spectators to watch and learn and get into this game. I am sure that many bridge players learned this game by kibitzing the favorite players.
  17. suggestions: Max length column may be deleted. HCP column may be replaced in that space. Disposition: "other" may be added to include user defined disposition(eg.. splinter). "Qualify" block what is that mean? when something like Michaels written in that column, it is not clear what is happening during the bidding (when opponent bids 2H over 1H). Currently the options are Vul (9 Choices), dealer (7 choices) If this format is changed to the below option will it save many combination? Board Number (1-36), player position: 4 choices (E, W, N, S). Because Vul, Non vul and dealer are all fixed for these boards. Board number is specified example 1 thru 36, player position east or west or north or south May be it is easier to fill some details for some positions as play goes on.
  18. I followed this method of bidding at sandwich seat. Summary of Sandwich Seat Actions 1D Pass 1S ? Dbl. 4-4 or better in the unbid suits, 12+ HCP (BPH : exactly 4-4) 1 NT 4-4 or better in the unbid suits, 0-11 HCP (BPH : 4 hearts, 5 clubs) 2C natural, 5+ (BPH : 5 hearts, 4 clubs) 2D 5-5 in the unbid suits, weak hand 2H natural, 5+ 2S natural; 5+ spades, 8+ HCP 2 NT 6-5 in the unbid suits, weak hand Is it a good system? Is it a good idea to bid at that seat? Is there any pt requirement for bidding 1NT bid at ACBL tournaments? ACBL TD says 5 pts.
  19. Prefer early warning before the BB$ reaches to 1. Older version classic view, It is possible to check the profile, BB$ account, and close. It will announce the amount leftover. Newer version requires going thru password cycle. It is harder to remember, ponder which one and takes time. Unable to play in a tournament if occurs in the last minute.
  20. FD is a great tool to learn various bridge biddings. It only improves and minimizes biddding error. There are too many errors in misunderstanding bidding of the agreement. Using FD, Gifts will be less. Partnership understanding is fully explained. Some may have system notes in front of the computer and play accordingly. The second round, third and fourth round biddings can be established well in FD. It takes time to prepare one. Over the years, it will improve the bidding skill.
  21. In each of tournament page, main bridge club page, right below-middle section, there are four blocks called Chat, Tourneys, Tables, Lobby Click on Lobby. second click on Lobby, pop-up window appears. This is hiding chat and tourney buttons. Recommend to move up the pop-up window, so, click on chat and Tourney buttons will be possible. Thanks.
  22. Recommend Dual link of BridgeMaster in "other bridge activities" button. Drop down menu will also help to find from the first page without clicking.
