♠ play strange
-
First, I registered in speedball tourney. Later, I was not able to verify quickly whether I registered or not and it was confusing. So, I also registered robot tourney. Both starting at the same time. When the tourney started, I was placed in robot tourney and cancelled the speedball. My partner was disappointed. Suggestion that Registration should not take place if already done at the same time tourney.

What is board completion rate? How it is calculated? What is tournament completion rate? How it is calculated?

On-line players should be informed about this feature. Place the mouse arrow on the card to be played without clicking. The card pop-up slight ahead of the layout, ensure the card you want to play and then take 0.5 to 1 sec delay and click to play the card. This is a double move. This minimizes misclicks if practiced enough. Video presentation in BBO news may be helpful.

Developing Bidding Judgement
A2003 replied to relknes's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Bidding Practice Cover the answers for each hands. Try to practice the bid and check your bid matches with this. Then, give it your partner to do the same. Second option: Get a handout that shows all 4 four hands. Start with a dealer and bid, then Rotate for each position and make the bid for their hands till you complete. Ask your partner to do the same. Compare the bidding sequence. Some of the handouts will also show a optimum possible contracts for each side. -
There is not enough space to fill Big club system responses in the Convention card.

SLOW Play USA Trials
A2003 replied to chudecek's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
It is possible that players might not have picked the cards for next hand for bid after the hand is played. They may be chatting or discussing over previous hand. Whereas in the vugraph, next hand is shown right away after the first hand play is over. so, there may not be slow play in some cases. Is the players complaining about the slow play? -
If the intervention is "DBL". then copy and paste method in FD will work for all the bids. If the intervention is other than dbl, "a bid". then, copy and paste method in FD will work for all the bids. But, usually requires text and field editing because the meanings will be different. You can also use delete for the particular bidding to delete the follow up sequence biddings. This is the fastest way. Note: paste will also paste all the follow up 2nd 3rd 4th 5th... round bids.

Match Point Precision Book, Page 33-39 refers: 1NT 13-15 HCP, denies 4 card majors. Based on the reference below, page 2, No alert is required to 1NT (13-15) bid which denies 4 card majors. Match Point Precision Book - 1NT bid The above reference, page 2 states: 1. In a recent ACBL Regional tournament, we had an opponent protest because we did not also alert that the 1NT bid denies a four card Major. The tournament director reviewed the bidding, looked at our convention cards, and had consultation with head director. After the consultation, he returned to our table and said that the denial of a four card major is a treatment and does not need to be alerted as it clearly marked on the convention cards. This confirmed a similar ruling we received in a tournament many years ago. Is it true that no alert is required to 1NT bid which denies 4 card majors? Is there any other treatment which requires no alert?

Is this double still penalty
A2003 replied to humilities's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Double is takeout and south with Balanced hand, no 5 card suit, no 4 good suit to bid, based on north showing extra value, south takes the chance to convert the double to penalty. If West has these cards, it will make 2♥ contract. No 800 available. [hv=pc=n&s=sajthq96dq532c986&n=sk987hktda98cakj3&w=sqhaj875432dkjt7&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1hdp1n2hdp]424|300[/hv] -
Suggestion to allow Kibitzers to watch the game and learn.
