Taken 2 clubs, east shift to S2, west play J. The dummy play start on trick 3. What would be your plan? W-----N------E-------S-----W-----N------E ♣2----♣7----♣J-----♣3 ---------------♣K----♣5----♦3-----♣Q ---------------♠2----♠4----♠J------♠K -------♦A-----♦9----♦2----♦5 -------♦K-----♦4----♠7----♦6 -------♦7-----♣4----♥2----♦Q -----------------------♥T----♥4-----♥7----♥6 -----------------------♣8----♠3?----♥8----♣6 --------♦8----♣9?---♥3----♦J ------------------------♥J----♥9----♥A----♥5 --------♦T-----♠5----♠T----♠6 --------♠8----♠Q----♥Q----♠A ------------------------♣T----♥K----♠9----♣A The declarer succeeded on steal his small trumps and made 10 tricks. Was there any chance for defenders? Please avoid using stinging words. It's a friendly game.
  2. [hv=d=w&v=b&s=sqxxhak9872daxcq3]133|100|Scoring: IMP West opened 1C 1C--pass--2H(WJS)--??? now what?[/hv] Assume you pass. West pass too and pard volunteered 3D, pass to you. What's your bid? 1C----pass----2H----pass pass--3D-----pass---??
  3. I had these 2 hands when playing with a thoughtful friend. Pard dealed and opened: 1) ♠KJT9xx ♥xx ♦xxxxx ♣-- 1♥----1♠ 2♣---2♥ 4♥// Question: would you bid 2♠WJS instead of 1♠ or rebid 2♠ in the 2nd round? If not, what do you need to do so? 2) ♠K9xx ♥QJxxx ♦Txxx ♣-- 1♣---1♥ 2NT------3NT// Question: 3♣ would be checking another major, would you bid it? EDIT: the system is 2/1, I shall not post this here, but dont know how to move it, sry :P
  4. 4C, forward ball to pard.
  5. "1x-1M-any-3M : GF and 6card M" self-sufficient trump suit (1 losser), invitational, as for me.
  6. What about 1NT xx +1 ? I think doubling 1NT is crazy. If West has 10, opps would have made a positive move. If West has 13+, not, but then he is likely not to have 4♠, maybe not even 3. Pass! I mean west double 1NT, not east. I think east should have a reason to let go 1NT dbl. 1C--pass--1H--pass 1NT-dbl---pass-??? or 1C--pass--1H---pass 1NT-dbl---redbl--??? Pard run to 2x, dbled, -1, it's ok; -2, sadly; -3.... if opps dont have a game, I'll buy a drink for pard:) I'm a optimist when have something in hand.
  7. If opps are sane, I'll double on 1NT holding west hand. Will not be proud of it, but I will try. Pard has something hold opps' pace. I can support any suit. The worst result we could get is 1NTX+1, not 2x Xed -2. I just believe neither would happen. :P

  9. [hv=d=w&v=n&n=skj96hkj983dck432&s=st753hat7dkj632c7]133|200|Scoring: IMP p-----1♥----p----1♠ 2♣---3♣----p----4♠//[/hv] West lead ♣A and continue with ♣6, you duck ♣3 from dummy and ruff in hand. ♠5, dummy 9 taken by East's ♠Q. East retuen a friendly ♥6, now your turn. West will play low ♥.
  10. Nice except that 3♥ usually shows a shortness. Should be, but 4D would be just discouraging <_< I assume a different style applied :)
  11. how about this one? 1S-----2NT 3H-----6S
  12. I once played Vinje signal, by Helge Vinje 1959, only for a short period of time. Since Vinge system is so complicated that it's very hard to find a pard to play with. So I gave up. But I still think it is a precise and complete signal system. Do you have any comments on Vinge? Here's a link: http://www.bridgeguys.com/VGlossary/VinjeSignals.html
  13. [hv=d=w&v=n&w=satxxxhaqtdcjxxxx&e=sqjxxxhkj9xxdkqxc]266|100|Scoring: IMP 1♠----2♥ 3♥----3♠ 4♥----5♣---(double) pass--5♠//[/hv] I was sitting East partnering with a nice guy. 2/1 system, all common conventions available. ♠K off side 5♠ made +1, 34%. It was a yucky sequence, great fit in 2 majors but just have no way to describ side suit. I had too few control in all suits, and pard had too many clubs to take care of. 20 of 47 tables reached 6S: (a) 1S----6S (;) 1S----2H----(3D) 3H/4H---4NT......... © 1S----4NT........ (d) 1S----2H 3C----4NT......... (e) 1S---(2D)----6S (f) 1S----4C! 4S(4D)----6C 6S (g) 1S----4C 6C----6S (h) 1S----4C----(double) pass--5S 6S (i) 1S---3D 3H---4NT...... (j) 1S---4C 5H*---6S___*2 Aces Do you like any of these? For me.... hmmm.....(g) :D . What's your approach? Regards, Jack
  14. Oppositing a passed hand slam could be too far away, unless... he has singleton ♣ and ♠A ♦K. So I tend to bid 3♣ as a cuebid to see if pard is encouraged. I will be satisfied with a game, no matter 3NT or 5D. If pard continue cuebid in black cuit, I'm happy to continue with cuebid, otherwise, 5D to play. I look forward to the expert answers too :) :)
  15. ♠A stop ♠K. Then ♠x from Dummy, ruff in hand. If east follows 2nd♠, play ♥AK, 22 break I’m home -- this won't happened because of the post. When ♥Q is not dropped, play ♣AK and 3rd ♣, ruff by dummy. If east has ♥Q and overruff, he has to play D for me. I'll put King. If east don’t follow the 2nd ♠, probably he will duck a ♣, I still play the same. East has to play ♦ for me whenever he take HQ. If west has ♥Q and 5305 shape, I can ruff the 3rd club as an entry for diamond finesse, actually I dont need it – just play a low D, east got trapped. The plan fails when ♥Q not dropped under AK and west has stiff DA. Regards, Jack PS: Not work if west has 4 spade only, but i dont think it would happen.
  16. zzzzzzz...............planning for -1. Why dont opps pull Spade A?
  17. Passed hand, negative double and 3D, precise description. I dont like 2NT, neither 3NT, however understand it's a hard time. I'll try double 2S, pard will understand that I suggest penalty. Regards,
  18. Here's the Key. [hv=n=sxhqjxxxdxxxxxcjx&w=saxxxxhtxxxdaqckx&e=skqxhdxxcaqtxxxxx&s=sjtxxhakxxdkjxxcx]399|300|Actual Bidding: 1S----2C 2H----4S//[/hv] There's no hope for spade contract, but 7C is stone. The declarer was so hopeless when he found spade break 1-4. A beautiful 8 cards suit become wastage, 4 spade went down. Interesting I had a very similar hand myself yesterday when planing at lobby: ♠Axx ♥AT9xxxxx ♦K ♣x Pard opened 1S too: 1S-----2H 3C-----3S pass.....ooops......arent we play 2/1? "SAYC." What's your plan if you were I?
  19. The reported hand is from BBO tourney. [hv=d=s&v=b&n=s4haq97653dq83ca7&w=sa8752hk82da4c862&e=skqt93hjdt97ckt94&s=sj6ht4dkj652cqj53]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] the bidding went: pass----pass-----1H------pass 1NT-----pass------2H-----pass pass----2S--------3H-----pass pass----3S--------pass---pass dbl// I was sitting south. TD was called after dummy shown. The doubled 3S was made. TD adjust the result as NS A+. Question: 1)Do you think the TD's decision is reasonable? 2)Does West need a sound reason to support his bidding? 3)If a player fails to put forward his reason behind his 'strange bidding'(according ro TD's judgement), Should a TD take action just because of suspecting UI tranferred? Many thanks,
  20. IMP, Non vs Vul JT98x KQTxxx -- Qx 1S---(2D)---2S---(4NT*)____*after long consideration 5H---(dbl)---pss--(6D) ??? Not everyone agree with the opening 1S, but it makes possible to show the second suit at 5 level. Now what would be your choice here?
  21. Seems pard swing between to play or to punish, probably I would run from XX, but I will stay 2NTX. Pard should have half stop in Spade. I wish I know him more than "sound mind".
  22. Ditto. The problem for me of not applying drury is that pard will always assume I have 2 Hearts only, regardless how many times I bid heart later.
  23. "Start with 1C, I can bid 4 times......" LOLLL [hv=d=s&n=sa9hakq65dakcqt54&w=skqt8hjt97dqtckj8&e=s76542h8dj9c97632&s=sj3h432d8765432ca]399|300| 1C pass 2H pass 2S pass 3C pass 3H pass 4NT pass 7D Dbl pass! pass [/hv]
  24. 1S---2C 2H---2S 4S---// This sequence is out. A little bit better that what the opps have bid at my table: 1S---2C 2H---4S// Depend on styles, the 3rd stage of the bidding: 1S---2C 2H---2S 3C---3NT(serious) 4D---?? 1S---2C 2H---3C 3NT---?? You dont have voidwood available. :)
  25. Ok, let's continue 1S---2C 2H---2S 4S---? Now what? If: 1S---2C 2H---2S 3C---? :)
