I enjoy review played hands via www.bridgebase.com\myhands. Browsing local PC records with VU, the movie and traveller information is lost, you can't know what happened on other tables. But in \myhands, the records can be store only within 1 month. Is that possible to download those pages (together with movies and traveller) to my PC. It's really helpful to analyze the results during a long period. Thanks, Jack

This is a proposal to play in spades since partner did not deny spades, he could just be too weak to make a neg dbl. How much strength it shows is a matter of agreement. I think it makes sense to play this as showing shape only (usually 4♠+6♣ but could be 4+5 with extra values and/or good suits), at least at matchpoints. As for Kathryn's question I agree with Marlowe. Hi Helent & Melowe, With which of these hands you will bid 2♠ after: 1♣-(1♥)-pass-(2♥) 2♠*? 1) Kxxx x xxx AKQxx pass, dbl 2) Kxxx xx xx AKQxx pass 3) Kxxx x xx AKQxxx 2S? 4) AKJx xx Kxx AQxx dbl 5) KQTx xx x AQxxxx 2S? 6) KQTx x Qxx AKxxx dbl

1♣-(1♥)-pass-(2♥) 2♠* *probe for NT or reverse?

I opened 1NT too, PD jumped to 3NT with 9 hcps and balanced hand 754 K54 QJ63 QJ6, I won't complain about that. 8 trick was collected. Afterward, when I checked traveller, I found out 75% players played some contract down, 1NT, 2NT, 3NT, 3C, -1, -2, -3. For the other 25%, three of them opened the hand with 1♣, another opened 1NT but pd invited with 2NT. These 3 wining dealer seems get right pace. I recalled that old book told us don't open 1NT when has not stopper in 2 suits. It looks quite right for this hand. However, the forum is so coincident on the choice of 1NT opening, 94.59%! I wonder if this had happened before:) We love this game. For whom is interested with the traveller: http://online.bridgebase.com/myhands/hands...username=adhoc3

A5 QT86 Q75 9876 pass--pass--pass--1NT pass--pass--??? Beside hand evaluation, are there any other considerations to make a balance bid?

Robert, 2♦, hoping good luck. It's quite marginal, but the side K compensates. AJTxxx is acceptable too but less valued than KQxxxx. We agreed with 2 of AKQ. At least Ax, Kx, or Qx. Better bid 3♦ later (if can) with JTx -- purely partscore oriental. Right. 2NT confirm stopper, the cuebider dont promise that. Never thought about that, sounds good. Maybe it's straight forward between long time partnership? When will your Big Club System to be issued? May I have a copy? :) Jack -

East played ♣A♣x, ruff South's ♥ return, run clubs --- south 'had to' duck ♠, contract made +1.[/hv] Many strange things happened in this board. 1. With his 8-card-major, north did not open. 2. East made a reverse with his 3-card-suit. 3. West passed his pd's reverse. 4. North balanced after Wast passed his pd's reverse 5. South did not double. Who is the oddest fish?

Hand evaluation (1)

I play precision with my regular pd. The 2♦ here promised decent suit, at least KQJxx or KQTxxx. A pass could be more appropriate with enough hcps but poor suit. In our style the bidding would be: 1♣--(1♠)--2♦ 2♠*--------3♦ *our immediate cuebid shows fitting or very strong hand. It's not GF. Pass// 2♠-------------2NT*, 3C* *max, feature 3NT Maybe 3♦ or 3NT will -1, we just accept it as cost for the lucky games we catch. 2♠ is not an option here. Welcome your comments. Jack -

Both red. IMP game. Hold:♠AQxx ♥AKxx ♦AQx ♣Jx. When you're counting hcps, RHO open 3NT. Double, Redouble, pass, pass!, pass. Assume you lead HAK and you find the dummy is: ♠Jxxx ♥QJTxx ♦Jxxx ♣void. Everyone followed 2 hearts. Now what to do? The story is hiden below, hope you enjoy  .

lol, I like both comments, thank you! ---- thought was opps' 1H :P

Success or Failure?

BTW, is this makable if double dummy? -
Can anyone please advice why dbl is out of consideration? Thanks

There're still many rooms for probing, 3♦, 3♥, 4♦ are all options. it's only 1/1 FSF. I'm thinking what would happenw if pd open first? The bidding may be: 1♠-2♥, 3♣-3♦* *a 2/1 FSF? 3♦ seems not enough to show 6-5 hand, and 4♦ could be competing with PD when totally mis-fitting. Isn't because of unclear 2/1 FSF? If 3♦ is nature strong bid (i.e. no FSF after 2/1, weak hand bid NT), 3♦ will be a perfect discreption of winners. PD can be more certain of where we will land. Noticed if it is agreed 3♦ a 'noise bid', you will have to show nice ♦ on 4th level. Isn't it too high? With the given hands, PD will now know the status of misfittng at 3rd level. Sorry, I drifted away from here and back to my last post about 2/1 FSF. Regards, Jack Edit: last thread: http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=11015

Sometimes 4NT still makable but not 5C. This one seems not of that kind.
-
Modified precision. 1♣- 1♦ 1♥*- 2♥ * Canape 2♠*- 4♠ *nature second suit 4NT*-5♣** *KC1403 5♦- 5♠ *Q 6♠

I would not open 3♣ with that hand, too many side strength. Your pd opened and got a BIG result, that could not be bad.
-
sadly 3c would goes for -1100 and 4c -1400:(

I was kibtizing a star table in the lobby, I asked a question and there happened a arguement. What's your choice? What if it was rubber game? MP?
-
3D just fine. If PD wants to play NT, surely he will bid 3S to comfirm stopper.
-
I try to solve these 3 case without FSF :) : 1)3NT: I'm not encouraged enough to run for 6C unless PD can bid over 3NT. 2 Aces are fine, but wrong place. 2)3NT: I need to possesse right position. If he has xx in S, I will have to pray for 44 break. 3)2NT: as you've pointed out. For case 1), FSF 3H would be the most 'comfortable' than the other 2. But PD still in fog. I wonder where he can go without knowing club fitting.

I am arguing with a freind about 4th suit forcing. I think it is no more necessary after pd's 2/1 rebid. For an instance: 1H-2D, 2S-3C or 1S-2C, 2D-2H The 4th suit bidder should have real suit -- the 2nd suit of his strong hand. If the responder has balanced hand and no stopper in the 4th suit, just rebid the 2/1 suit or support PD's first suit (doubleton with an honor is of coz accepable). Bidding NT confirm stopper and imply having length in the unbid suit --no strong enough to bid directly. I can't construct a hand that strong enough to make a 2/1 bid but can do neither of the following: 1)rebid his suit, 2)support PD's suit 3)bid NT. Am I correct?
