And dont forget to add that even if LHO has the J of diamond, he still has to play it which is far from obvious to the avarage+ player.
-
This is not exactly true, yes the double squeeze will work if west has 5 diamonds and east has the K of heart, but what if west got the K of heart ? then you would want a♦♥ simple squeeze on west, but you wont make it cause you went for the double squeeze not the simple squeeze and played the A♥ earlier. Anyway my point is you are still playing for not better then 50% (here u play on K♥ on the right) so, the heart finnese isnt a bad line.

Id like to ask the experts who dont invite, is partner having 17 hcp instead of 15 doesnt increase the chances of the game to make ? is partner having 3(4) spades instead of only 2 increase the chances to make a game ? I agree that he wont know exactly what good and what bad, but this isnt uniqe to this hand, and still know something.
-
The squeeze is very nice, but lets do exactly as u said but at the end position give LHO the K♥ and give RHO another high ♦(LHO discard the J♦ not the 10). Now the squeeze doesnt work. So basically this squeeze worked when RHO help the KH, is that better then 50% ?.

Even if there is a squeeze here, i doubt it is better then the simple heart finnese.

Accepting My Bridge Level
Flame replied to pbleighton's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I wont be able to make the change you did, i must be the best i can at any game i play. -
Yes 2H should be alerted. 1♠ got nothing to do with acol, dont bother yourself with bidding 4 cards overcalls just know its not terrible.
-
1♦ is fine. (3♦ is the alternative) 1♠ is not terrible, i wouldnt bid it but many good players would, anyway std 1S show 8+ hcp not 10. 2♥ is one round forcing std is 10+ hcp and 5♥,therefore the std bid with north hand is double rather then 2♥.

Seemed Simple to Me
Flame replied to Winstonm's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
To the passers do you always reopen at the level of 3♥ with shortness in the suit ? I do at the 1 level but dont at the 3 level without extra's. -
Seemed Simple to Me
Flame replied to Winstonm's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Not simple to be, I choose 3NT rather then 3S, This will be bad if partner has 4 spades, but might still be right with many of partner's 3 spades hands. -
I think the more important question is what to bid with only 4 hearts. with and without the third suit, with and without extra.
-
6C and 6NT makes ??? This atleast deserve an explanation. Do you mean you will make 3 hearts finnesing the QJ twice then you will take all the clubs out, and then play the hearts from your hand to squeese west on spade and diamonds ?

Worldclass declarer play
Flame replied to Free's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Perhaps a note: I don't care if anyone agrees with me or not. The only thing I'm asking is if there's material on this... What i said is there isnt such material cause there isnt such thing. -
Worldclass declarer play
Flame replied to Free's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I disagree with most you said here, you dont need more then the known good declarer play books to be as good as anyone, you just need to be good enough to make it at the table. -
one last thing, partner didnt deny 3 hearts by doubling, he wont have 4 but 3 is still possible.
-
I would think it is around 50%. You don't need a lot more then ♣Q dropping? What about the diamond Q ? Dont you need it to drop too ?

Adhoc the law is your answer.

Daniel have just posted this version of polish club which looks very well and include 2 way checkback. http://www.geocities.com/daniel_neill_2000/sys/WJXXI.txt

You are wrong about this, negative double doesnt mean you have to take it out, its not anti disipline to pass a negative double, in fact its exactly what your partner expect you to do when you have a balanced hand with no better alternative. Im not claiming that pass is right here, im saying its a good alternative and there is nothing undispline about it.

Did anyone try this ? Would be happy to hear about expirence with this system, maybe Todd ?

Team IMPS & safety plays:when are they worthwhile?
Flame replied to Chamaco's topic in Expert-Class Bridge
i think Trumpspace pointed very well the problem. most of the time i play (very) short matches (since i didn't made yet in BB final ;-) and to loose 11 IMPs trying to gain 1 in one board would be crazy. I think if anything then its exactly the opposite, if the match is short you dont want to throw overtricks , because in the long run it will benifht, because the long run wont come, the trunps will not break 5-0 not at this match. All in all the expert is right, take the matematical right play. -
The only actions to consider here are pass and double. Double isnt penalty here but partner wouldnt take it out unless he has a shapy hand, which is exactly what we want. The risk is ofcourse that partner is weak.
-
Can you post a link to his response ? There are two different questions here, first does 2D show such a good hand in our system, and second, is it good that 2D show this. If 2D doent show such a good hand it is certenlty a bad bid, but the second question is more intersting and much harder to answer.

in both situations attitude in the suit doesnt matter, most play that when this happend they give count (this is the std), some play differently like the obvious shift guys which always give attitude.
