  1. OK. Change the response to 2♠ to 2NT minimum 3♣ maximum 4♥ (responder bids next step to confirm fit) 3♦ maximum 4♠ (responder bids next step to confirm fit) 3♥ maximum 5♥ 3♠ maximum 5♠ 3NT maximum no major After the 2NT response, 3♣ is Puppet Stayman This has a problem i tried to avoid, you will give information about opener's hand when respoder just want to invite NT.
  2. Would you say that finding the 5-3 fit isnt important enough to check for it ?
  3. This doesnt solve your problem with 4-3 major.
  4. Im trying to design a system over 1NT opening for my intermidiete+ students, I want it to be good yet with no momory overdoing work. I want to keep normal stayman. I dont want to use stayman with no 4 card major. I want to be able to find 5 cards majors in openers hand. Currently i play 3C as puppet stayman, which can do the work. I have some options each has proc and cons and i would aprishient your help. option 1: 2s transfer to C or NT invite 2NT transfer to D 3C puppet staman This option works fine, the only real problem with it is opponents doubling 2S for lead. option 2: 2S - clubs any strengh or diamonds invite 2NT- nt invite 3C - diamonds invite Here we lose the pupet stayman we can solve this with the 2C but it seems to be too complex. option 3 is somthing i thought about: same as option 2, but using 3D/3H/3S to take place of the missing puppet stayman 3D = bid ur 5 card major or 3NT with non. 3H = 4S3H 3S = 4H3S. This way we will find the major fit, and also will hide openers hand better then other systems, the main problms is this taking space and when a 4-4 fit is found the respoder is the declarer. The space consuming doesnt buther me too much since the uses of 3D up arent too important anyway, yet the 4-4 playing from the wrong side does. What do you think ? Suggest other simple ways if you can. Thanks in advance
  5. I play that you must cue bid your lowest control, 4♦ for me deney ♣ control and there is no way i can convice partner to bid anything then trump if he has no club control. I think most play like that, but i know justin prefer his first cue bids to be natural and therefore would choose 4D rather then 4C too.
  6. I asked some world class players and they say it doesnt show extra.
  7. Ill play A♣, if no honor is droped ill continue with the K, if the Q didnt drop i have to decide how to play the ♥s, since i dont see strong evidents either way, I will go with east, since this way if the spades are 3-3 i will only 3 h tricks and QXXX is also working for me. so after AK ♣ i take all my spades out and then A of H, collecting my small spade if possible, and finnesing to the J of H.
  8. 1♠ 2♣ p p X P 2♦ P 2♥/2♠ You opened 1♠ LHO overcalled 2♣ partner and RHO passed, and you reopen with a double, partner bid 2♦(or 2♥) and you correct it into your suit/s. Did you show extra ?
  9. the normal bridge book give you a hand and ask you to make a plan. Unfortunetly for many novices this isnt working , they arent good enough to think so much a head, I have many old ages student and i wonder if there could be an alternative approach. One example that could work is book of one suit play examples, I remember one such book on the books thread but i think it wasnt for novice. Do you know any very very simple books (many of of my students are old people). Do you have other ideas for things that can work. ?
  10. I think its not appropritate to publish profesional teachers here. Publishing free teaching is fine but for those of us who take money its not.
  11. This shouldnt ruin the tournamnet as the TD should adjust the score just like i did to one 7NT like that about a week ago.
  12. I brought it up long time ago, and got a nice suggestion (i think from Ben), when you want to leave as dummy, press your seat and you will get to be kib, this will help the host finding a sub, at the end of the hand leave the table completetly.
  13. I never liked A attitude K clunt although its very common here. How do you protect yourself from declarer ducking with AJX ? I would consider playing it if we playing Q from KQ J from QJ.
  14. Your double is strange but comparing to your opponents bids its great. Take the A of diamonds, lay down the K of spade and continue dimaond, partner cant go wrong now. normally on non opening lead you lead K from AK , an ace can be played without a K looking for K on partner's hand.
  15. I somehow think you are missing Arend's point completely. A similar situation is (1m) - Dbl - (1M) - ? What would you play Dbl and 2M as? ??? You think We often want to play in Opener's suit? Or are you trying to say something else? as for (1m)-X-(1M)-?? X= Unbids =or= Unbids with tolerance for GOP's Major 2m= worth discussion. Vs a Strong NT pair, "natural" is reasonable! 2M= If 2m is Natural, then the only Cue Bid available is this. LR+ or GF values. (However, one must also protect against the old Contested Auction 1M Response Psyche...) The normal way is to play X = 4 cards in the major 2M = natural.
  16. I dont think so because you will most likely have a problem in your second bid. 1D-1S-1NT what will youbid with 5♣4♠ on most system you cant show your shape (you could be 7♣4♠ and 9 hcp...) 1D-1S-2D now 3♣ would be GF so again you can show it. even on good day when it goes 1D-1H-1S you cant do but, 3♣ would not show 5-4 now and 2C is 4st forcing to game for most. So basically if you bid 1 first you are going to show this hand as a balance hand with 4 card major which is hardly what you got. Maybe its best but to say it we need to see the problem with the other way to play 1D-2C-2D-2H with only invite+.
  17. On the first sequence opener didnt deny 4♥ or 4♠s 1♦-2♣ for most partnership bidding 2♠ now is GF. so 1♦-2♣-2♦ doesnt deny 4cards major. Playing 1♦-2♣-2♦-2♥ as GF, means either we lose the 4-4 fit when opener is minimum and responder is not GF (could still easily miss game) or that reponder with 4M5♣ should bid 1M unless he is GF. I dont think I like any of those much.
  18. Hi Is the reverse by responder in a sayc like system forcing to game or just one round force ? example: 1♦-2♣-2♦-2♥. Does it matter if the first response was a one level ? example : 1♦-1♥-2♦-2♠.
  19. about 6 month ago someone made an internet page that give you parts of cards and you had to complete the rest of them. for example all 13 dummy's cards were open. all ur cards was open, you see only the spades and hearts of one hand and only the minors of the second hand, and have to feel the unseen cards. It was great page and i cant find it. anyone has the link ?
  20. Sorry but i think there should be some kind of dressing code, i never seen it made formaly, but i myself and im sure most other ppl wouldnt go to a bridge club with the same cloth they wear in a soocer game. Yes i feel more comfortable with my pigamas but still i make the effort and were my jeans. Its also depend on the time and place you play, obviously if i was opening a bridge club at the park The shorts were more then welcome.
  21. There is a great in depth writing about it on daniels site, be carful its not easy and dont expect your partner's to know this too. http://www.geocities.com/daniel_neill_2000/sys/index.html
