  1. 1. 2♦ 2. double 3. double 4. pass 5. 4♥ 6. double 7. double 8. spade
  2. Your bridge level shouldnt make you more conservative, feel free to be agressive. On the other hand i think the world is over the light opening style, I believe today the common knowlege is to open light when you play a limited opening system while open sound when you play a 2/1 or sayc system. the huge range of the 1 level opening in a natural system is big enough no need to streach it even more.
  3. Pd pass should be forcing. this is why i should have originally passed and not double. After i double and the bid is back to me, im suppose to double with good clubs (this is penalty) bid a major to show a stoper and lack of stoper for the other major. 3D is probebly not forcing so with slam interest id start with a major bid. This mistake of doubling for penalty because you have a long suit (spade here) is a very common mistake. suppose pastner opens 1NT and RHO overcall 2S, you hold a very weak hand with 6 spades, you know 2S wont make but still double is a bad bid, if you double the opponenets will probebly run but the big problem is that partner will doubl;e them now based on your first double. To sum it, penalty double , show general strengh for defence not only for one potential contract.
  4. You got it wrong. Its not stupidity to bid 4H here and go down. lets say they need to be in game with 25 total points (thats including distribution) the responder has 9 of them, how can he know if his partner has 16 or just 13 ? He made his own guess , now you are looking at cards that suggest he guessed wrong, but instead of doubling you decide he must have made the right guess so the shapes must be wild. Im telling you this because im sure if you understand this and use it at the table tou will become a better player.
  5. If you think your opponents always do the right thing then dont bother playing against them because you will always lose. The resson you prempt is to make them make a mistake and get to the wrong contract, it doesnt make sense to assume they always make the right choices and take the last guess yourself. Here the 4H bidder know his partner has 1 to 22 hcp, with this huge range he guess to bid 4H, its quite likely that he is just being optimistic hoping his partner has more then minimum opening. This is my alternative suggestion answer to "how can they bid game when im looking at points" rather then your suggestion "they must have great shape". Im not commenting to the 4S decision (already said im against it) but to the naive approach that imo is a losing approach.
  6. 4S is imo out of the question no matter what the scoring mathod is. At mp id double expecting to score 4 trciks maybe with a ruff in partner's hand. At imps double is still an option that could work but i prefer pass.
  7. As i see it, those kind of systems have an advantage in competive bidding, but this must come from somewhere and this is from non competitve biddings when we wont find our best spot, usually in a minor.
  8. You are right , there is a problem (and I cannot solve it - open 1H with 4=H & 0-4S is worse ! ) . But I don't see why a normal 5 card major system is in a better situation after 1H (3D) . Based on the LOTT you might have an advantage when you know partner has 5 cards in the major. I agree it can qork both ways since you know both majors. Just seemed strange for me to see that you giv the same bid with 2 hands that are very different in their odr. It seemed strange because when i was trying for systems like that i based everything on the odr of the hands, which i thought is what you do as you have different bids for 4/5/6 cards suits.
  9. The problem is not how to show opener's hand, the question is how to decide whather we should compete to the 3 level or not when opponenets bid 3m. On many hands we wouldnt want to compete if opener has 4-4 but want to compete if opener has 5-5 (and maybe with 5-4) It doest solve the problem to say that opener will continue with 5-5 or pass with 4-4 because sometimes we are in a total misfit. This isnt saying The system is inferiour to normal systems when coming to make competitive decision, what i mean is that exact major usuallly put you in supper position while after 1D opening you might even be in worse then normal 5 card majors openers.
  10. Its not about systems, or conventions, its about agrements. You cant put a top pair agrements into 2/3 games. Now if a regular pair have an agrement that after a sequence of bidding Double show something, and this sequence arraise what do you expect them to do ? say we have no agrement or use their agrement ?
  11. The fact that focing pass with 13+ is good doesnt nececarly mean 1C 13+ is good. About the system, i like exact major alot although i think you dont need to open with 4Hs. The exact major here has a problem when you open 1D since majors can be 5-4 or 5-5 and you will be in trouble if opponenets prempt.
  12. The turney doesnt let me register, it send me to get money although i have more then the 0.25$ needed (not much more :( )
  13. I think opening structure is important and i tried to finds some major focused structured myself many times. I dont like the agressive satyle of this system, i think opening that light doesnt work. Your 1C opening will be triable.
  14. 3NT is to play. It doesnt promiss 8 pnts or anything like that, it just hope this is the best spot maybe trying to get out without a double.
  15. when you play a system like 2/1 you better not open light, therefore a and c are the openings. If i play strong club system i might open all of them.
  16. Not long ago you made it possible to move between vugraph tables which is very helpfull. I think the same thing should work in TM tables (for kibs) and maybe also in main.
  17. There could be another angle to look at this. My wife and i had once a talk about what is the right thing to do when you see a friend with an open fly in his paints. Most ppl just dont do anything but my wife is pround of being the one to tell the guy, yes its imberessing but she say he would like to know. I think there are some similarity here, everyone knew but decided to say nothing while zia was the one to tell the guy. I know its not the same, but reading fred post about how he and rosenberg where smiling to each other on the other side just remind me of the other situation.

It was fantastic i dont think i have ever witness such a drama and i dont mean only in the bridge world.
  19. Im sure if he stoped to think he would find it in no time, what i guess happend is something like this, you see dummy go down and make plans you think what i need to make this and think you need trumps to behave + this and that or this and that... and then zia takes his A of C and u know u only need the trumps to be home and then when they arent u just claim one down withhout thinking.
  20. after passes doubles and redoubles bids u dont have the option "ok & next" avaliable"
  21. http://www.polbridge.pl/wyniki/2006/ec2006...OPENbutler.html They are last on the italy team which isnt that bad...
  22. The psyching problem will not be solved as long as psyches are allowed. You cant expect a player to tell you. This bid has 1.56% of being on 3 cards and 2.66% of being with 2 cards. cant expect ppl to tell you exactly how many times thier partner did each psych. Its not clean, its a problem, the partnership knows somehing that the opponenets dont, but this cant be solved and is the case in many other situations, we cant get a 100% here.
  23. I think the fact that this same bid come from 2 different tables is proving that this isnt a private agrement (not to mention that its on any book on psyches and has a name), it is a public one and since no need to be alerted. Im not sure i would say this as a director, im saying this as a general view on the subjuct.

    I like this idea, thx
  25. I have some time now so here is some resoning When the opponents bid 1M-2M opener is in perfect position to decide where the partnership should go. A prempt in this position has alot to lose since doubles from both sides are for penalty, and the opponenets will tend to double only when its good for them, many times this will be when they dont have game but we go down too many. premptive is a kind of guess, it puts both sides into guessing, normally its done when im weak and therefore the guessing has more effect on thier side, they got more to lose, this is especially true on third hand when i know we dont have game. After 1M-2M by them, they know way too much, most of the guessing is mine, they already know enough to make a good decision. The only benefit of the prempt only benefit is to take their invitation option, this might be good, but first e know many pair already sendom use invite now and prefer to shut to games even without interference, second my preemt will give them information that might be more valid then thier triak bid, i will tell them if thier points and shape is working or not, it will ofcourse help them in play too. On the other side there are the benefits of strong jumps, its go well with OBAR and i dont agree that we can forget about games completelty. when the hands are shapy you will see games, not only that shapy hands will give me more tricks but also with good shape they might be bidding on weak hands, opener can be as weak as 10 hcp and responder 5 hcp, this leave us with 25 hcp and good distribution. u might hold something like KQJXXXX X AXX AX You can guess to bid 4, u can guess to biid 2, or u can bid 3S which is my preference.
