  1. The real question is should this bid be 100% natural. If its 100% natural the "justin's law" that non GF hand cant make a forcing bid is good here, but if you want this bid to be more flexiable losing the option to play in 2S but winning a better discription of other hands. You need to weight the pluses and minuses, is it important to be hable to play in 2S on such a sequence ? and How much we win by playing it as forcing.
  2. Bidding avaliable suit below game as general invite in situations like 1M-3D* bergen or 1S-(2D)-2S-(3D) is standard intermidite bidding.
  3. The finner arts of bridge by victor mollo Great book lots of fun to read. Deals with non technical espects of the game. Recommanded to any adv+ player, weaker players will enjoy but the book assume a certain level of play and defence and take it a step further.
  4. Intresting i would take both as penalty oriented meaning we are atronger then our opponenets hand i have a difensive hand usually something in thier suit. I can understand the offesive double suggested by others but i think its a convention and not the normal way.
  5. You want them to duck ??? I think its best for them to duck, what will you do next ?
  6. [hv=n=sq98hxxxxda987ca10&s=skj1076hkqxdk10cxxx]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] Its mp and you play 2♠ aginst good players but not in a great field. LHO lead the Q♦ How would you play ?
  7. I thought the double is obvious but after reading ulf i think his point make sense and im not sure this is the so obvious anymore. I think if someone will run a simulation you will find that there is more then 50% of misfit here.
  8. When it come to opening bid make it as simple as possible count HCP if you get 12 open if you have less user bergen rule of 20. (only when the points are in the long suits) Don't do more then that, experts dont do more then that. Only when the bidding progress you can really make changes to your hand evaluation. Example dont pass 12 hcp (unless its really triable) Dont open 1NT with 14 or 18.
  9. Intresting question, Against world class oppononents today i held 1444 a single in partner 1♠ opening and 1 hcp. We open 4 card spade but i dont think its matter too much. I decided to bid 1NT and went down 4 undoubled all vul they had a game so we won some imps, Yet if it got doubled we would probebly pay alot (even if we run). Later i thought maybe i was better to pass the 1♠ which has much less chances of getting doubled for penatly, and even if it does i can redouble out of it. The minus is playing 1♠ in 4-1 fit is probebly not our best spot. Not sure whats best.
  10. Partner showed diamonds and about 11-14 hcp u have 7 with a misfit why the hell do you think its important to bid 2♥ now ? On misfits stay low. Even if i had a non forcing 2♥ it is probebly better to pass.
  11. Not even close for me, add the Q of club and i still pass.
  12. If you're in partership bidding you can't join a game in the main bridge club by right clicking someone name (no join option appear). I think there are other places when this happend (some maybe needed) like in money bridge room.
  13. All the Israeli juniors used this.
  14. Rain i know this and think its a great thing and so far its doing its work yet i believe you should keep track on the leaving thing just like you do in other tables if someone has an habbit of leaving he atleast should be notify that its not allright to do that.
  15. I started playing money bridge again and it turn out that there is a new strategy used by some players. Whenever they see a bad board they stop playing waiting for the game to terminate due to time limit. For now every time this happend i was ok with the result i got but i still feel like there is something wrong here.
  16. Its hard to understand what you're asking, if you understood that partner is intresting in clubs and not heart and you're asking if your hand was worth another bid after 5♣ then no it doesnt you have a minimum opening and should pass. If you took 5♣ as some kind of slam bid for ♥ slam then the question is what is 5♣ if 5♣ is exclusive then you need to answer aces, if 5♣ is splinter asking for cue bids or fit showing asking for cue bid then your bid should be 5♥ because you shouldnt go above 5♥ (the agreed suit) with a minimum and no ♦ control. Was best if you gave only your hand here.
  17. I pass, would have open if the 5 card was a major.
  18. Im reading Davidc blog about bidding thory and its great, one of the things he mention there is that hands with about 20 hcp should always be able to bid twice so according to this north has a second bid. I would probebly bid with south too because of the ♥ shortage. So for me its 100% blame for North and about 75% for south.
  19. Lets see i have 5 hcp so responder is likely to have 9+, im long in club so responder is likely to have short club and therefore likely to bid redouble. As for partner he also likely to be short in clubs and yes might have a 5 card suit but he will also likely to have all suits and therefore is likely to pass. Opener with poor club suit is not suppose to take it out, on the contrary, having short club just make him happier to pass and catch us. This is the logic that make me think its likely to end redouble p p p. I agree that when it wont end this way i will get a poor result nd therefore its more a mp idea. Anyway its just an idea that i thought about as a funny thing and wont try it unless i happend to be in a funny mood.
  20. RHO opens 1♣ and you holds KQ10972 in clubs and nothing else. You double. Had i seen it at the table id think the doubler is definetly a novice, but think of the most likely outcome of this, i think its most likely continue redouble P P P. Now if they make just 7 tricks they get 230, if they make 8 they get a 3NT+1 score. I think there is a good chance that you will win mp here, but even if not its still good for a homour bridge book when the novice double and they get 630 while the rest of the field get a 650 in 4M+1, or 3NT+1 for a cool avarage.
  21. I think in washington standard bidding 2♥ in A alwas shows 4 card support.
  22. Maybe you didnt count the times when you had only 3 cards support but bergen effects it too.
  23. Thanks everyone especially Richard, we will implement it . we are adding 7 card suit to the RR by bidding 2D and then 2S.
  24. You hold a 6♠-5♥ 15 hcp hand, certently offensively worth the 1♣ opening. You play relay after 1♣. Suppose you open 1♣ partner response 1NT showing a diamond suit, would you keep relaying (2♣) or you will show your hand (can you do this in your relay system). Is it better to open it 1♠ and then make a strong bid maybe 4♥ than getting into an unplesent 1♣ relay when partner show his hand which isnt what you want ? will you dare do it with 16 hcp too ?
  25. 4♠ for me, pass is second option but my expirence is bidding without thinkking too much usually works better then passing.
