  1. Does not it all depend upon your HCP holding and where /how are those distributed ?
  2. The Badger spoiled my fun by giving all four hands too early.Personally ,I felt an attacking lead was a must and that a passive trump lead will not be useful at all.Hence,I would have led the Ace of Diamonds.
  3. As regards the rebid of 2NT after an opening bid of 1M and a 2/1 response I like the super precision system where it shows a balanced 15 HCP.With less HCP opener simply rebids his major suit and to show a 6card suit he first bids his major at 2 level and then as per partners next bid he may rebid his major at 3 level.Of course this is only possible as opener is limited to 15 HCP in that system. In usual standard system it may or may not work. With double suited hands and maximum HCP or less losers one rebids the second suit at three level if required e.g. 1S-2H-3C/D.
  4. We play the raises as have been explained by Max Hardy. In addition , we play inverted raises when Partner has overcalled in either major. All are simple and very easy to remember.
  5. 1)1Club.then bid and rebid spades. 2)Of course ,1Club.
  6. (1) We dislike Bergen for the same reasons as given by johnu earlier.(2) We do not play a forcing NT which was given up by even Belladona and Garozzo in their Super Precision system.(3) We play 2/1 as forcing upto 2NT or 3 of a suit and certainly NOT GF.So in the given hand if P has opened 1S ,we bid 2C and rebid 3C as a sign off.(4) If P has opened 1H then we bid 2C and show Heart support at 3Level(we don't feel ashamed to bid it this way),as this 3H is a limit bid and not a GF..
  7. After 1NT-2S-2NT 2NT-3H Club Heart double suiter slam going, please cue. 3S-4 D 4S -6C 4S denies first or second control in Heart and shows Spade AK at the same time. Now no chances of a grand unless you are gambling on a heart finesse. 6Club final bid.
  8. Take Out Double.Primarily, interested in one or both majors. If partner has none and can't bid 3NT he can pass for penalties or in a rare case bid 4C( Well,he can have a 4/5 card club suit). His bid will depend upon his actual holding
  9. If your LHO asks you or your partner "Then what is the difference between the two" you have to give a full explanation.Like.let us say,"white against red our 3C is 6/9 and our 2C is 10plus when red " , .You can't give an explanation that it depends upon your mood.In any tournament you are required to carry your system methods and bid accordingly. The director will ask you to explain the full information that your partner gets from any of your bidsA strong willed director will keep watch on you or even ask an observer to sit at your table."It all depends upon my mood" is little short of misleading the opponents on purpose and that will not be tolerated by any director when exposed.
  10. If one bids double then will it not be a strongish hand with three card club support,( support double)reserving 2NT for the more usual 18/20 balanced with a 4 card spade suit?and 3Clubs only a competitive bid ?
  11. Sir,you said all that I did not say as I expected the same reasoning from all others Thanks a lot.
  12. Tha small slam in spades is a 50 per cent on a natural heart lead.If one is hoping that the SK is with RHO then if it is so why not bid the grand?
  13. A mandatory wait of 10 seconds was the rule for the pre-emptors LHO who could then double or bid anything else.I do not know if the rule still exists.Director can then take appropriate action whenever he is called and the hesitations or closing the carts etc are explained to him .I think at least nine out of ten treat a double of 3 level preempt as a take out double.
  14. We ,too, play these Jump overcalls,as described by you. An interesting problem is,suppose RHO passes, you open 2C how do you bid over partners 2D response?
  15. Thanks a lot for your kind suggestions ,uncle Zealandakh. As a matter of fact,we do have different hand treatments for distributional hands after an intervention .However space limitations forbid me from discussing them right now.Perhaps, some other occasion!
  16. I cannot give answer to the hand which you describe .I am giving my bid ,as I was taught, for the hand given specifically in this post,Lastly,I agree to disagree with you.
  17. My bid is a 'natural' 4D.Bidding a minor at 4 level over a passable 3 NT bid does show a strong heart suit and also a diamond suit and slammish hand
  18. As already pointed out by others a trump lead was a must. The lead of DA was atrocious and the play of D10 was totally unacceptable if not silly.I too, would be happy if you switch to upside down signals. However,if P notices that 234567 are visible and the 8 appears from the declarer he should draw the right inference if you had played the D2..
  19. I shall bid 7Club. 1) Partner bid six without knowing much about the club suit and more importantly 2) Why did he not make a temporising exploratory bid of 3H when it was available. 3) He did not bid 4NT or any such agreed bid.
  20. Too easy in Super Precision !Which we love to play) 1C(16 plus any)- 2S (8 plus Black suit singleton 4441) 2NT(pl.clarify)-3C 3D-3H (Ace or King of Heart) 4NT-5C (no ace). 4NT is fishing for a possible 7 NT 7D - All Pass The standard system which the majorty play, also, will reach the contract once responder shows D support and then Heart cue bid.by responder. The method which we adopt is as follows. 2C-2NT(8 plus no 5 card sui and 1and1/2 or more tricks) 3D- 4D 4NT-5C ( no Ace). 4NT is fishing for a possible 7 NT(who knows !)Else one may bid 7D directly 7D -Pass
  21. We do not like to be waiters.! 2D means less than 8 HCP ( or less than 1and 1/2 Culbertson tricks.) 2H/S means the bid suit 5or more cards and 8plus HCP.(or at least 1 and 1/2 tricks) 2NT means 8 plus HCP(or at least1and half tricks) balanced hand 3C/D means 5plus bid suit and 8 plus HCP(or at least 1and 1/2 tricks) There are no responses beyond 3D. Note: if the hand is 5332 and the five card suit is a 5 carder ,less than Q headed, minor we treat the hand as balanced and bid 2NT. If opener over 2D,rebids 2NT(23/24 Balanced) we use Baron and major suit transfers.3S shows 5/4 in majors. If opener rebids a suit then responder bids naturally. Q-xxx-xxx-Axxxxx. Our bidding went. 2C-2D 2S-3C 4NT-5D(one Ace) 6S-7S (if missing the Q partner bids six then I must bid 7). Of course, the grand was cold.
  22. Something amiss here.If 2NT is enquiry how are the responses shown at 2 level when it will be an underbid .?
