  1. Shall open 2C and watch developments.IFopoonents dont intervene and partner bids two D then an unopposed auction will go, 2C- 2D. 3H asks for specific Ace/Aces.3S shows spade Ace ,.3NT asks specific Kings and 4 C shows the club King.. 3H 3S 3NT 4C 6H
  2. An exit play involving the sacrifice of a trick in order to win two or more tricks later is called a GAMBIT.Thi term is derived from CHESS.Hence in the deals wherein an unblocking play has been made to develop an Endplay later may be called “ a jettison exit gambit ” .The term gambit has been described by the late George S Coffin in his book “Endplays In Bridge “.
  3. One knows the rebid problem NOW.Had this been realised earlier then perhaps it would be wiser to open this hand as oneDiamond and then jump shift in clubs over partners major suit response if at all it does occur. That would be comparatively less twisting the system as the D holding is almost worth a five card value.
  4. Are control psyches permitted? In a situation where apparently his partner catches the psych can the hurt opponents call the TD and ask for redress.?
  5. Pardon my typing errors of spelling and construction in my post as the new method of editing is a bit awry.
  6. As the club suit is not good enough Both 3D and 4D are unsatisfactory as neither will convey the concentrated of strength in D and H suits and XX in S.My eccentric partner suggested a bid of ONE HEART and wait for partners response. As Helen suggested a fake splinter in one of the majors is a possibility but the bidding will become uncontrolled after that.A very complex situation indeed!
  7. We bid 4D a takeout in majors with longer spades and with longer hearts we bid 4C as the take out. This is the treatment for a hand like the one posed as a problematic situation by you.
  8. When one holds the major two suiter we bid 4D ,take out in majors with longer spades.Reverse the majors and the bid is now 4C,take out in majors with longer hearts.
  9. When one holds the major two suiter we bid 4D ,take out in majors with longer spades.Reverse the majors and the bid is now 4C,take out in majors with longer hearts.

  11. The question asked was whether to move to RKCB directly or via KCB first? If your partner is a beginner then let him go through KCB.RKCB with its two way 0/31/4 or 1/4 0/3 is putting a strain on his memory. When he gets to intermediate level he on his own will ask to learn RKCB if he wishes to progress beyond the local level.Spiral is far too complicated for him and I doubt if it is used by many as it has to be used carefully and judiciously. A slow approach is very useful for progressing beginners and overburdening and confusing their memories only leads to their developing a sense of self disbelief which must be avoided .
  12. Since it is a weak No Trump opening my bid (as we play it) is 3D a highly invitational yet non forcing bid.
  13. I ,personally, prefer the Italian cue bids and asking bids as described in Super Precision. However,I also like the natural cue bids.Anyhow either of these are to be used very judiciously.
  14. 1)The type has become Smaller albeit difficult to read easily. 2) How does one register as a substitute where allowed.?
  15. We play 2NT**3S As GF with 5Sand 4H 2NT -3NT As tr to 4C and2NT -4C As tr to 4D. Obviously to play in only 3NT we have to go via BARON (we do not play Stayman over 2NT.)
  16. We play 2NT**3S As GF with 5Sand 4H 2NT -3NT As tr to 4C and2NT -4C As tr to 4D. Obviously to play in only 3NT we have to go via BARON (we do not play Stayman over 2NT.)
  17. Since not alerted,4C has to be Gerber.4D shows zero Aces and hence Pass is the correct bid.I know that it’s not compulsory to alert any bid above 3NT but does it apply to such a specific case (convention cards are not always available) ? Personally ,I have not got what your partner meant by “ six pence” as six pence can not buy you anything. If ,indeed, 4C was meant a transfer bid the partner holding 3 or more Aces and a King at least in the 4 Th suit(If holding 3Aces) would have made some noise, as is permissible under the system the pair is playing ,other than bidding just 4D. Hence it is not wrong to pass and make necessary changes in your system afterwards.
  18. As an addition to my earlier comment I have to make a clarification. We play Superprecision and our splinter bid promises a 4card support headed by at least two of the four top honors.A five carded support has to be headed by either the Ace or the King of the major suit opened by partner. Of course playing any standard system it may or may not be possible to be so rigid in making a splinter bid. .
  19. As one can arrange various combinations with the partner of the player who makes a splinter bid when the Void may be or not useful, and if that partner makes a RKC bid ,we stick to the good old times bids.It will take an expert in the panel to suggest a new foolproof way of dealing with situations like these when the RKC bidder 1) has the Trump Q and 2) when he does not have it .
  20. The small slam has a good chance to make if hearts are not 4/0,the DK is in finesse and one makes a correct guess in clubs..No! I,personally, would not like a 6H contract. The North hand is just a winner short of a standard 2C opening and South has a 9 losers hand so I do not think there is anything wrong with the bidding as It went .Had the club king been with South the chances increase a lot becoming almost a certainty if hearts are not 4/0 and the DK is in finesse..
  21. I was passed a story of a genuine expert who In a national event led the small card from A10 doubleton, dummy came down with KJx and declarer played the Jack from it.The masters partner had the Queen and horror of horrors DID NOT play it.It was the only lead which could have defeated the small slam as declarer had xx.in the suit one of which he could have discarded on dummy’s long suit on any but this lead..The expert died 57 years ago and I am allowed only to divulge His initials which were RG and his partner who died 14 years ago was MK
  22. I shall return the club ten(C10) Hope Partner has Kxx .
  23. Just as the Robos have limitations as ican’t read the human mind so will be the case with a software. As far as dummy play is concerned there are a few excellent books available and some out of print..Double dummy analysis is also available in some books but I think that that is the limit to books..I ,personally,do not think that such a software will or can be developed.
