  1. As per my limited knowledge of ingberman, the responder holding 5/7 HCP and a flat hand with a 4Card spade suit, having been forced to bid ,bids 2NT as a relay and opener with Just 17 /18 HCP bids 3 Clubs then it is not forcing to game.As per the convention responders first one level bid has to be the cheapest 4Card suit the responder has denied both D and H as having 4cards.As per my understanding of the convention, which does not explain what to bid with a5pointer hand holding 6carder suit,it is difficult to pass a clear cut remark. However it is said in the convention that if a bid other than 2NT or a bid of 3C by opener over the responders 2NT are not made then all other bids are game forcing, which I feel embarrassed to understand,Since the opener who could simply have passed the 2S weak bid then his raise to 3S,for reasons better known to him,is a forcing bid and in a regular partnership showing interest in a slam.A 4S bid by opener over responders 2S bid is a sign off showing no further interest having heard the 2 bids by responder.
  2. I have come across the most singular aggressive bidding. My partner opened a weak 2 S RHO doubled I was looking at S- Axxxxxx and raised to 5S. Opponents reached a contract of SEVEN clubs all pass.I Led a passive trump lead.RHO on seeing the dummy murmured something unprintable. They were missing the ACE of CLUBs.My partner showed out on the second round of Clubs.I did not have the ace of Clubs. The silly contract was made. My partner had revoked as he had the club Ace arranged thinking it to be Spade Ace. The director was called and he awarded the contract .7 Clubs made missing the trump Ace! The take out double may not be to everyone's liking. However his 3H bid is the worst bid
  3. When playing a standard system ,before opening this hand I would have considered my rebids. This hand is a weak opening hand .Make the minors majors and there are no problems The diamond suit is weak,Personally ,I,will open this hand 1C .If parner has D iamonds he will bid them.On partners 1H response there is a very convenient rebid of 2C.And if now partners bids 2H which is a nonforcing bid I shall PASS.I do not mind if we miss a 5-3 Diamond fit.Playing Precision this hand is a very easy 1D opener limited to 15HCP maximum and 2+D,over partners bid of 1H there is an easy 2C bid which shows a 5Card suit and a hand not suited for 2C opening. On partners 2H its a simple PASS.However ,I feel, quite a few Precision players may not open this hand .
  4. If the given explanation of 2H opening is to be be believed as honest,I wonder what sorts of hands do the RHO and partner can have when BOTH have passed. It is quite likely that RHO is loaded with spades and having no fit in hearts and 10/14 HCP. I am an aggressive bidder and yet as I feel the hands are likely to be misfits it is a 50/50 proposition to bid 2S .I donot wish to know the final results but this time I shall PASS. I will not like to play in 3S doubled which is likely if I bid 2S now.Another reason is perhaps they may find a minor suit fit.
  5. As per my personal opinion,DOPI or DIPO are both playable with prior discussion about what actions you take if the next player has his own conventions and makes an undescribed bid over it.However,in general ,the occasions to use either of these are not many.A large number of players are observed to be playing DOPI. that does not need much to be discussed. One of my colleagues was interested in knowing if one can play DOPI over opponents 4NT {simple or RKC) bid and if it would serve any purpose.
  6. Not to mimic someone who will automatically open 1NT%(obviously to make the opponents trod a difficult path), this hand is an easy 1D opener in Precision.and an 1C opening (with its 21/2 tricks ) in any standard system.
  7. To me it’s unthinkable to find a hand holds no zkey card and not even the Q of trumps will ask a RKC enquiry when it should be the person holding all 5of the keycards.Any how, the 5 H /5S replies show 2/5 keycards without/with the Queen. And this is very logical and simple to understand except the novices and very rarely a few beginners
  8. I fully agree with you.First thing all of us remember is that all of us are HUMANS.It is inhumanly to admonish or make objectionable unsporting remarks on any one when we are playing a GAME and NOT POLITICS or any thing else.Personally,I would banish such a player FOR LIFE unless he openly expresses an apology.
  9. In a match points game I shall not,but in IMP event I certainly shall consider it keeping in mind the other factors already enumerated by other colleagues.
  10. The more the comments the more I am coming to the conclusion that the 1NT bid was made not by mistake or oversight but was made purposely as a semi preempt to deprive the opponents a 1H/S bid. This tendency is growing and growing.Sadly it has boomeranged by the 2H bid.(or perhaps 1NT bid was made in order to protect the valuable Queens as one may argue at the PM).
  11. Double of a 1H bid is support double showing three cards in diamonds and does not show spades. With a 4 card spade suit he will just bid 1S.
  12. If nothing has been discussed earlier, then a TOD is the safest bid. Any partner ,after hearing your NT bid which denies holding a 4Card major, and a 5 card diamond suit or a good length in clubs with all the other requirements, would certainly take it as a TOD.Not having bid one diamond on the previous round this is the only way to describe your intentions now.In my opinion a 2 S bid would very likely be taken as “choose a minor “bid.
  13. A lot depends upon the exact holdings .Generally speaking,if your hand warrants only one bid then bid 2H.If it warrants two bids then show your spade suit as it can be shown at Just the one level.I ,personally, can’t pass comment unless the full hand is available
  14. If as someone said in a lighter vein that a bid of 4NT should be Blackwood for Aces then,I Ialso in the lighter vein suggest that a direct bid of 5NT be Exclusion Blackwood for Kings and if the LHO bids 6H then DOPI be employed.
  15. It’s just bad luck.Of course, you should have asked for their convention card and looked at the explanation of a 2C opening bid.If the card said anything not justifying the 2C bid then you could have called the director and pointed it out to him.
  16. If the declarer had told the director that if his RHO grossveneered him then the contract should be allowed. But if had told the RHO and not the director the same thing then it shall be ruled as down one.The declarer had specifically said that he would lead a heart to the 10.(Mark you director has to go exactly as per the explanation and not consider what was the real intention) However the declarer should simply have said “I just cover the card which his LHO plays “,then the opponents couldn’t have anything to say.
  17. pass.I do not like arguing" if partner has this or partner has that"No conjectures and a straightforward Pass.
  18. We call the Abraham system and similar ones, rather jokingly,Papa-Mama system.
  19. If as the poster says that 2S promises good heart fit and is prepared to play in 4H opposite a bare 6/7 and four small cards in hearts ,then not only have I 12HCP with a suit as good as AQxx, but also a singleton in clubs.I am an aggressive bidder and with this hand would have bid a splinter 4C and not 3D which I feel .of course personally,is a timid bid.Further bidding may then proceed as per your partnership methods.I have a loser count of 6 only which Is much less than the 1H bid which is made even with 9 or rarely 10 losers also..
  20. In any system one has to give attention first to major suit fits and then NT and lastly the minors.Mr.Yogesh you are hampering the partner from showing a major suit at the cheapest 1H/S level. This is very undesirable.Playing a 1C opening as 18 plus HCP brings far too many restrictions if the 1H/S response is an artificial one. YTo me it appears that you are fond of playing strong club system. My humble advice to you is to adopt a system like the Blue team club, precision / super precision or The Polish club System. This System appears exactly like the very old Papa-Mama system
  21. This is a very strange auction.Partner overcalled opps 1C with a strong NT .He did not bid 3H over 3C .He took out the doubled 3C contract. He never bid spades at any level earlier. He did not double 3 C immediately to show spade /diamond (4/5) hand.So his very likely hand is 4243 or rather should be.I shall pass since I do not wish to go up one level by bidding 4D.
  22. I think everyone will accept that a voluntarily bid below 2S is not doubled to extract penalties against a partner who has a very poor hand and probably 5 or at least 4 spades,4/5 hearts and about 4 cards in minors. The double of 2D has to be showing a desire to play in at least 2S.It should be a hand somewhat like the one suggested by Felicity. It has to be a distributional spade club two suiter but unable to use Michaels. The depicted hand should have bid 2D instead of a double and later competed with spade suit at what I suspect at 2 level. And another point is one never makes a Tod with a two suited hand in the SECOND seat.
