  1. PASS.I have already described my hand and there is nothing more ,.I shall leave it to partner.
  2. What information is the PASS by RHO give to the LHO ?.IF I can obtain some information then I shall be able to bid accordingly.Lacking any such information,I would like to play this hand in 3D.Bidding 2C as stayman and getting a 2S reply does not convey anything about partners controls ,range as also the quality of spade suit.As per my limited knowledge of ACOL a 1C opening will likely have a club suit and so unlikely that he has has a 5 carder heart suit.So where are the hearts? if partner replies 2H to stayman you are in a fix.2NT may not work then if LHO has DAxx and my CA gets knocked out on the expected club lead , there will be unsolvable problems. As 3D over a 2H is forcing I dare not bid it.
  3. SPADE ACE.FIRST choice.CLUB KING SECONDchoice.
  4. 4H bid does not necessarily exclude a slam as opener now knows that responder is confident to bid 4H even facing a poor 11/12 HCP. and with the possibility of 1C a prepared bid.
  5. My bid over 1H is 4H.Shows a 7loser hand with good support.Opener had S-xxxx,,H-KQxx,D-Kx,C-KQx. Over partners 1/2 Spade over 1H .what is he supposed to bid? 1S—1NT/2S ? And 2S—3S/2NT,? one does not get any nformation by bidding 1/2S unless it’s a fixed partnership .Isnt it?Please correct me If vice versa. As also how do you propose to continue after any of the above responses by opener over 1S/2S ?
  6. Playing Gazilli and V VS NV,your partner deals and opens 1S you bid 1NT holding J-QJ9864-KQ76-52.Opener bids 2C (Gazilli) How should the bidding proceed ? Opener held AQ643-3-AJ5-9862. 2D is relay bid and opener bids 2S showing 4 carder Clubs .What now ?
  7. .Your partner is the dealer and are Red VS White. He opens 1S and you bid 1NT holding 10-QJ9864-KQ87-73 as you play ♦ .Partner bids 2C (Gazilli). My question is do I bid the forced 2D ? If so,what is my bid when partner bids 2S showing 11/15 with 4 card club suit? Is a bid of 2H ACCEPTABLE instead of 2D? Partner had AQ754 -5-AJ4-10954. Is his 2C bid wrong ? If so, what's his correct bid ?
  8. Personally,I don't know any thing at all about ACOL.But If the sequence 1S-2C-2H could be 4/4 in the majors in ACOL then my bid shall be an easy 3S over 3D as the 3D bid may be to find out if opener has 5carder spade suit or not. There is no other bid to find that out.. as 2NT iwill be a passable bid. It is also my personal opinion that playing a 5 card major as in Precision if partner bid 2H then My rebid will be 4S over partners any bid over 3D .I am not too excited to visualise a slam holding only the Queen in the club suit in the given hand .I like the approach and further developments of the hand as suggested by other colleagues.
  9. When Partner bid 3D he was fully prepared for a 4C response from opener.Therfore my bid is 4C.Had the hand lacked one honor n clubs ,my bid would be 3S.
  10. Sir,thanks a lot for presenting my post in a hand diagram. Thanks also for pointing out and correcting my oversight that D3 had appeared twice therein (as submitted by me.).
  11. This hand is a hand from actual play(not borrowed from any book). The hand reported by my uncle, who has manuscipted 202 hands from actual play is as under. The South seat was a gentleman ,who is now 80 yrs and still plays on BBO ,shall remain a secret.I request any good hearted colleague to put it Ina hand diagram as I do not know how to do it.It was 05 July 1986,when South held,S-A,H-AJ875,D-AQ73,C-1082 and North(dummy) held S-Q7654,H-KQ109,D-94,C-KQ.After some quixotic bidding S became the declarer in 6H ,West was a 24 yr old expert who led a trump. My uncle says —Plan the play.Anytime you lead clubs W goes up with the Ace and returns a trump and East shows out revealing the 3/1 break.I shall reveal all hands by revealing West hand which was S-982,H-643,D-J832,C-AJ5 You have 7 trump tricks ,2D,one each in S and C.How do you score the 12th trick.?
  12. When opening a hand we consider the play value of honor cards we treat KJ as only three points and four points only if it is KJx.WE never suppress a five card major as strong as this one and hence shall open 1S..Over RHOs 2D we shall bid 2S .a bid which was our bid if RHO had passed. Our Partner would bid 3H a descriptive bid knowing fully well that opener Just can’t have 4 cards in heart. This of course is a game force and opener shall bid 3NT with the useful valuable KJ and DK. As also this hand has 14 HCP we shall not open 1NT (15/17) even if a small spade be removed and placed in the club suit (making the hand 4333,)In that case(4333 hand)will automatically open 1NT.as we play Precision.(13/15 NT).Over this P will bid 2S tr.to clubs and over the forced 3C he shall bid 3H showing a 6C/4H GF hand.Opener will then bid 3NT.
  13. 2C is the most natural bid here when playing with an unknown player. It is less likely to be misunderstood. We play 2C as forcing for one round and 3C as WJO,.
  14. We do not open this hand 2C.We open 1H and if LHO bids 2S and it goes pass pass we bid 3D and will quietly settle in 5D.4H can go into difficulties on a club lead if hearts do not behave.Personally speaking ,I will prefer playing in 4H at match points.
  15. If one is an ethical player it is ones moral obligation to point out any infringement/infraction to the TD.It is then his decision to decide whatever correct action is as per the existingh laws and conduct rules.(Of course, this is the procedure which I have followed rather than someone blaming me for keeping quiet and accuse us of cheating, after the deal is over.I do not suggest that this be followed by others. It is just entirely my personal on the spot action)
  16. Since the 1NT range is not specified,it is not possible to comment as the treatment against weak NT and that against a strong NT have to be discussed and there are many gadgets available. However ,now a days a double of a 1NT bid is for penalties and with 5or more HCP partner is expected to pass as has been already pointed out by other colleagues.Very few ,if any, play it as a TOD and Stephen Wu has very nicely explained that.
  17. 4s bid must have been made with a STOP warning.Even otherwise partner has to take a few seconds to make bid or pass as per the laws which I know and which is ethical also as a quick as a flash pass means a hand not worth a raise or not worth a negative double even at 2level.Anyhow if he hesitates too long then I shall call the director ,if there is one, and explain to him the situation before making any bid.Since 4S is a preemptive bid,I ,being an aggressive bidder, shall bid 5c. not to be preempted out.Of course,I know that my guess may turn out totally wrong.
  18. since the 3S bid has forced us to bid any suit at 4 level I with my regular partner use modified LEBENSOHL over 3SX or 3SXX.We bid 3NT to announce a poor hand asking partner to bid 4C .If he does that then we pass with clubs or correct to D or H as per our holding. However with a stronger or distributional hand partner is at liberty to not bid 4C as requested and describe his hand and that action is GF..However this does not mean that others should follow this method unless with pre agreement. In the present hand we would have bid 3NT over 3Sxx to show poverty and then converted the forced 4C bid to 4H.An advantage of this proves useful if the 3S bidder continues with 4S as the 3NT bid has already warned partner of our poverty.

  20. I My answer to all the 3 first questions is YES.Not having bid 4H earlier,I shall bid 5H now. A bid which we make now, if you had say 1444 ,is 4NT asking the partner to chose the suit. With 5cards in any suit we bid that suit immediately over the xx.We would have bid 4H on the earlier round showing our intent to play there unless he had some unusual hand.By the way our 3Sx does not promise length in hearts. Our 4C over 3S bid guarantees four good hearts and is a more descriptive bid.I,however, admit that it is not all that easy after a 3Level preempt without previous discussion .
  21. Excellent. Most certainly would like to have a detailed look at this newer version of modified Precision system.
  22. Yes sir,I fully agree with you.I never imagined, while making my earlier comments ,that Playing a Standard System there can be even 17 or 18 points and is unable to make a jump shift.A game in that case is easily makeable.I mostly play Super Precision where the opening is a range 11/15 HCP and hence there is very little point in raising diamonds unless one wants to keep the opponents guessing whether to balance or not at three level. Thanks a lot. However ,As I said,if it is Spade Ax and not Qx,then a game is certainly possible even if partner is minimum when playing Precision.
  23. With just 9 HCP and also 9 losers with nothing known to know the real value of the Kx Of Clubs ,I ,Personally, would not have dared to raise to 3D.Change the Spade Qx to Ax of Spades and 3D suddenly becomes obvious.
