  1. should bid 6NT then based on its hand :P
  2. you're not making an overtrick unless he switches to a spade and then ducks the ace of hearts after you duck the first trick (which would be nearly as strange than ducking the first trick from ♦AKQJT98764 to a stiff 5)
  3. [hv=pc=n&s=saqhkqjt86542d32c&n=shdakqjt98764cq84&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1c1h1s2d5c5nppp]266|200[/hv] Tame bidding for a goulash, I know, but I had to get you to 5NT :P West leads the ♦5. North hand is ♦AKQJT98764 ♣Q84, the diamonds are cut off
  4. [hv=pc=n&w=sa32hkq976dkcakq3&e=skj8ha42daqj62cj5&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=1n2d2np3cp3nppp]266|200[/hv] Yes, south overcalled 2♦ over 1NT with fewer than 4 points, but GIB should use common sense here.
  5. -300 as the cards lie unfortunately :(
  6. 3♠S [hv=pc=n&s=sak832hqj8dqj3c43&w=sqt97654h52d74c96&n=sjhakdakt98652ca8&e=sht97643dckqjt752]399|300[/hv] West leads the ♦7. Haven't tested this one with a double dummy solver but it should be makeable.
  7. losing trick count says 2♠ and I only have a 13 count but I like my aces so I'm still thinking. Probably will bid 2♠ at the table though.
  8. fixed the hand diagram because it jumped the gun on east's call. vulnerability is correct in the diagram. Undiscussed.
  9. Came up with this problem today, please enjoy :) [hv=pc=n&s=sa3h74dakq3cakq82&w=skjt86hqjt9d74c73&n=sq975hak852d95c96&e=s42h63djt862cjt54]399|300[/hv] 1. Make 4 spades on the lead of the ♦7 2. Find all 4 pairs of consecutive cards (two cards that are one apart from value in the same suit, such as a ♠10 and a ♠jack) that, when switched, makes the contract unmakeable against best defense. For example, if one switched the ♥KQ, giving north the ♥Q and west the ♥K, but this does not defeat the contract. Don't open the spoiler until you figure out problem 2. just for kicks: 4. Defeat 5♥ in the south.
  10. You've arrived at the last hand of the night after a rather normal session at the club and pick up your usual 6 count. After yawning, you pass as dealer, vulnerable against not, and a fairly normal bidding sequence occurs. [hv=pc=n&e=sj9h84dq963cqj642&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=p1sdr2c2h5c5spp6cpp6hp6s]133|200[/hv] 1. What now? 2. Would you have bid 6♣ over 5♠? Matchpoints.
  11. Lost 45-53 after crumbling in the last 5 sets (I was up 45-28), I played rather aggressively compared to normal which led to good results for the most part.
  12. assuming the auction is a standard jacoby sequence, I lead a spade
  13. probably didn't use blackwood either
  14. I think that north should bid 2NT over 2♣. If you bid 3♣ over 1♥ I wonder if North would then bid 3♠... and if you had bid 5♣ faster, GIB would bid 6 ;)
  15. IMO ♦A = 10, ♥J = 9, ♣J = 9, ♠A = 5, ♠ = 3 I like every non-trump lead.
  16. Similarly, make 6♠ in the south on any lead here. [hv=pc=n&s=sa943ht3dkq83cakq&w=skqthJ942d762c863&n=sj2hakqtdajtcj972&e=s8765h865d954ct54]399|300[/hv]
  17. Want to figure out how they bid to 6♠ too? :P
  18. [hv=pc=n&s=sj97hakjd65cak873&w=shqt654dqjt9cqjt9&n=sakqh987dak874c65&e=st865432h32d32c42]399|300[/hv] Assuming best defense, find all game level or higher contracts makable by N/S.
  19. 3 spades never makes unless the opponents really help you.
