  1. Same for me of course because the opener's hand is limited !
  2. Oops, I missed the ♣T ! You're probably right, Roland ;) (but still borderline)
  3. Partner did not rdl, ♣ are not good enough and 16 H --> 2♣ is enough for me
  4. The idea is : Knowing the fit at the 3 level is easier for further slam tries and control verifications (Especially for limit slam hands where fit is important).
  5. me to B) So your bidding... 2NT-(pass)-3♥* is game force, where 3♥ is jacoby? Yes, it's a common treatment nowadays in France and Belgium ! :)
  6. I play that any subsequent bidding on 2NT is forcing game so that it's impossible for me to play 3♥ or 3♠ ! It's a choice and I'm happy with it !
  7. Is this the way responder will bid with 4-5 in the majors too? Then over your 3♥ (no fit), he bids 3♠ showing 4? Roland Yes ! 2NT 3♦ 3♥ 3♠ = 5♥ + 4♠ and the opener cue bid with ♠ fit (which you can improve by 2NT 3♦ 3♥ 3NT = 5♥ + 4♠ and the opener cue bid with ♠ fit and 2NT 3♦ 3♥ 3♠ transfer to 3NT in order to be able to play from the big hand) and.... 2NT 3NT = 5♠ and 4♥ (better to not forget it at the table ! ) :)
  8. 4♥ I bid what I have (and probably stay in the field) : 5 trumps, a single and not strong ! This will allow partner to take good further decision if needed.
  9. Tell them that's it's your birthday ! Maybe they will offer you a little gift ! :) Happy B-day ! :)
  10. 3♥ is definitely too high for me to take any action with this hand. This is a clear pass for me too ! :)
  11. With this hand I transfer and then : 2NT 3♦ 3♥ : No ♥ fit, no 5 spades 3♠ : 5♠ no ♥ fit 3NT : ♥ fit, ♠ control 4♣ :♥ fit, ♣ control 4♦ : ♥ fit, ♦ control 4♥ : Great fit, all controls If I have 5♠ then : 2NT 3♥ 3♠ : No ♠ fit, no 5 hearts 3[NT] : 5♥ no ♠ fit 4♣ :♠ fit, ♣ control 4♦ : ♠ fit, ♦ control 4♥ : ♠ fit, ♥ control 4♠ : Great fit, all controls This simple and effective. Alain
  12. Was it a "psychic" void ? LOL
  13. In Polish club, balanced 15-17 hands are 1NT openings, aren't they ? And 1♣ = 1) 12-14 HCP, balanced 2) 15-17 HCP, unbalanced with clubs 3) 18+ HCP, any distribution.
  14. ♣ too for me ! I don't want to help declarer in side suits (but maybe i've just help him in ♣ :P )
  15. Partner has been preempted and has no room to ask for a lot of information. I'll already be pleased to play 6 and don't want to go down in 7 which is catastrophic !! If there was 7, I can live with it and will congratulate opps for their good preempt B) Please also don't forget that with a 1 loser hand, partner can bid 6♦ directly
  16. Of course I believe you and let me again thank you for all the good and appreciated work you do for the vugraph ! B) Alain
  17. Dear Fred, Roland, Uday, Maybe basic but can be done immediately : Why not post the link to tournament results, CC, players .... in the Vugraph schedule web page Alain
  18. Quantitative for me too but like all quantitative bids, they can be passed ! This is of course not acceptable with 14 HCP in front of 19 min !! So if you want to look for 7, bid 5NT, partner will bid 6NT with min and bid "Baron like" with positive.
  19. Of course I agree but the advantage of a TV is to see when players are thinking ! Maybe when we'll have efficient web cams !! :) Alain
  20. Even if bridge was already TV broadcasted, I suppose that it was only for a couple of minutes ! Let's dream of a time when we should be able to watch the great tournaments on TV ! :P
  21. Ron, When you have 13 HCP with small cards, it is clear that the 19+ of partner are made with aces and that he has a lot of controls ! I know that the south hand is fairly good with 4 aces but the 4♠ bid is natural with that 4333 when you have no specific system. Don't forget that the questions was : "Who should start the slam try?" And it is clear that it's up to north. So talking about "nonsense" and "silly forums" seems to be a little bit too much ! :P Alain
  22. 13 HCP a fit and KQJ in ♣ in front of 19+ is certainly worth a move ! 100% blame to north ! :P
