  1. 4NT for me because in my partnership 4NT is quantitative ! It becomes Blackwood only after dbl or cue bid
  2. It seems I'm so simple as you ! unnecessary to re-invent bridge ! Alain
  3. No passive lead on that one. ♣ because it is likeky the source of quick tricks
  4. Also think 5♥ is the best without first round minor control !
  5. Obviously, I totally agree with all of you about the lack of entries but the problem is that, in my system, North will describe a balanced 28-29 ! So south after verifying aces shoud probably jump to 7NT given his great ♣ suit and 7HCP ! :)
  6. Pls let's be back to reality How is it possible not to play 7NT if you don't see both hands 36 HCP ! All aces and kings ! two 6 cards suit and no fit ! Are you serious all ??? :P
  7. Hey Justin, when did you start to play ? At the age of 4 like Mozart ! :) :D
  8. Totally agree ! ;) Sometimes you preempt your partner, sometimes preempts just push opps in games or slams they would not have bid but that's bridge and that's life ! What is sure is that if you never preempt you will never put them in difficulties. :o
  9. Ok, Ok you are right on that point but I was thinking more generally. I can tell you that a lot of good players (mainly coming from East european countries (don't know for the US) because, we, french or belgian, are too conservative) will open that even in 1st seat !
  10. :o Opening 2♠ depends on many things (state of the match, vul, 3rd seat, ...) and is certainly not silly ! ;)
  11. So I suppose this hand is maximum for you ! So with [hv=s=sakhaxdajxxxxcxxx]133|100|[/hv] you bid 3NT ??????? :o :o Yes Cannot understand that ! Do you really think you will have some play when partner has 6 or 7 or 8 HCP ??
  12. Not for me ! Some kind of weak two (2♠ or 2♦ multi, yes I know I have 4♥ but ...) or PASS but definitely not 1♠, that's too weak !
  13. So I suppose this hand is maximum for you ! So with [hv=s=sakhaxdajxxxxcxxx]133|100|[/hv] you bid 3NT ??????? :o :o
  14. There are 32 possibilities for the 5 remaining cards. Low to the 10 directly works 15 times Low to the K and then low to the 10 works 15 times And the winner is .... Low to the K then low to the Q works 16 times !! ;) Am I right ?
  15. I need 4 cards for 3♠ and a better suit for 3♦ so 2♦ (probably an underbid, but ... Thanks this is matchpoints !) :)
  16. I'm with you, Fluffy ! After I showed minimum with 4♠, my partner insist towards slam only lacking ♣ control ! I have it so I bid it : 6♠
  17. I would add that it would be good to change your partner if he removes those kind of double :) :)
  18. I play weak 1nt and I must say that penalty double is not a wasted bid. I'm always afraid of -500 or -800. (where -110 is normal score) :) And if you have penalty dbl. all your other bids are limited. Luke was saying that it's useless only on strong NT ! :)
  19. Well, you don't even have a t/o dbl on a 1♠ opening so it is pretty dangerous to dbl at the 4th level, isn't it :) By the way, your dbl can only be penalty and you don't have it !
  20. Totally agree ! X for penalty is only good on weak NT ! For my part, vs strong NT, I play something like : X : xfer to ♣ with ♣ or both majors (Then I rebid 2♦) 2♣ : xfer to ♦ 2♦ : xfer to ♥ with one suiter in ♥ or ♠ 2♥ : ♥ + minor 2♠ : ♠ + minor 2NT : both minors Very simple and effective ! Alain
  21. Totally agree ! A king remains a king ! :) Specially at NT where your can score it at first trick ! If you remove the king of ♣, I would never open that hand in NT ! :)
  22. 3NT by EW is indeed a good save ! lol
