You don't have the problem of the 3NT response if you use the modified Puppet played by Meckwell ! I saw that recently on their convention card and if I remember it was something like : 2NT 3♣ asking for 4 or 5 M 3M = 5M 3♦ = all other hands (4M or not !) Then : 3♥ shows 4♠ or nothing (2NT bidder bid 3♠ with 4♠ or 3NT without) 3♠ shows 4♥ 3NT shows both 4M 4m are slam tries in m This seems simple, effective and interesting, doesn't it ? Alain

I tend to agree with Adam that 4♣ is not enough but in order not to bypass 4♠ I would try 4♦ and if partner bid ♥, I'd bid 4♠ suggesting ♠ and ♣ Alain

I never preempt in first with 2 aces. In my partnership, the only alternative I see is 1♠ cause I also have 4♥ but I will pass this one and try to come back later. Alain
