  1. Balancing with that hand will never cross my mind ! :P I pass at the speed of light ! :) Alain
  2. But I'll bet not mandatory support doubles! I also heard a rumor that Rodwell invented them but don't play them anymore ! :P
  3. Same for me but I assume it is not the case here !! :)
  4. Let me also add that I play 1m-(1♥)-1♠ = 5 cards (dbl with 4) so that it is easier for partner to bid 3♠ on these kind of auctions when he doesn't have much extras. Alain
  5. Mauro said 1♣ = either ♣ or weak NT so I assumed I did not know whether partner had ♣ when I gave my answer. Alain
  6. "Expasse" is when you ruff out the honour like when you have for example : AQJTX for a stiff You play Ace and then Q discarding if the K doesn't appear or ruffing if he comes. All this to say it's a ruffing finesse in English LOL :) :D Alain
  7. i double. i support 4♣ and 3♠, perhaps we play the game. And if partner pass i have 2 tricks promissed. :) Welcome to the forum, my friend !!!! :D :D
  8. That's right ! :) "Finesse" in french is "Impasse"
  9. Another interesting word in the french bridge glossary is "Texas" ! It applies to every transfer bid and not only on 1NT-4♦ .... So, in french : 1NT-2♥ is a "Texas pique" (Texas (trf) for spades") :) Alain
  10. In french we say "Pair-impair" (even-odd). High-low is even. The term "écho" (as in english) is sometimes used. Alain
  11. This is a good day. I learned something because, of course, as french speaking, I never heard that word ! :) Alain
  12. Dear Mauro, I think this is constructive. She just tells you that support doubles at those levels are dangerous (and generally not played) and I agree Alain
  13. Pass Everything can be wrong and I'm not strong enough. Let's try to beat 3♥ ! Alain
  14. I open that 3♦ I also play support X/XX but I think I would bid 2♦ here Alain
  15. 5♥ with the ♦ void. Don't know what's going on but I'm not gonna be rich in 5♦ X Alain
  16. Are 9 card fits so rare ? :( If you don't want to gamble, ask him with 3♦ ! B)
  17. I agree ! That's why I prefer 1NT = 18-19 bal and Rdbl = points unbalanced And I'd bid 2♣
  18. Hi Mauro, IMO, raising a minor under 3NT in those kind of auction is first NT oriented. If you don't bid 3♦, partner can't judge his hand. Here, with the hand you give (Kxx-Tx-KJxxxx-xx), this is a max and 6-card suit so I accept the invitation and bid 3♠ (ok for 3NT and nothing in ♥) or 3NT directly. Alain
  19. Partner can have 15. I have 10 with a 5-cards suit and nice intermediate cards so even at MP this a clear invite for me. Alain
  20. 3♦ (support with support) and up to partner. I don't like 2NT which should show more points I think (I'm not playing precision) and maybe no ♦ fit (-> more difficult to judge for partner) Alain
  21. Pass Without 5 card suit, I must be short in ♦ and accept all other suits to balance. Alain
  22. 4NT quantitative seems clear. If you can involve partner in the decision, you should do it imo. Alain
