Using the public version of GIB I tried to simulate this play, and I found an interesting observation When GIB is to play at the 11 trick it simulates 289 boards and get to this result West to play to C3, CJ, CQ; H trumps N/S have taken 9 tricks CA: -649.79 -> 0.02 CT: -650.31 -> -0.02 I play CA So it is pretty close, but wait, there are only 4 unknow cards and these can only be distributed 6 different ways, so generating 289 seems a lot of overkill :-)

I like to compete against humans, as competing against the robots makes no sense (They are to weak) But I like to compete (and sometime win) by playing bridge, not by fooling the bots. But I really dislike any tournaments where we all don't play the same cards, and I think most of the daylongs are with 16 boards, so you get compared to 15 other results, but the final result is something like https://webutil.brid...b=web&v3v=6.4.2 So getting compared to other players, that played other boards isn't really interesting I know BBO is doing this to prevent cheating, but I would like to play 16 baords and get compared to other players/pairs playing the same boards
-
Yet another of the boards where GIB should drop simulation, when there is a 3-card ending. From the 1N opening south should be 15-17, so ♣K is in south. Therefore there is no reason to take the trick.

[hv=pc=n&w=sk86hj85d87cj8754&d=e&v=n&b=5&a=p1sp3np4cp4dp4np5dp6sppp]133|200[/hv] 3N is balanced choice of game, 4♣ and 4♦ are cuebids, and 4N RKC So you have to lead against 6♠. A simulation shows that ♦ is best so you lead ♦8 and see the following: [hv=pc=n&w=sk86hj85d87cj8754&n=sj53hqt2daj9ckq93&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=p1sp3np4cp4dp4np5dp6sppp]266|200[/hv] First trick goes 8->9->T->K Declarer plays ♣A followed by a ♣ to the Queen. Partner follows with the ♣2 and ♣T Declarer now plays ♠J-2-9 and you take the King. Now a new simulation shows a chance for an uppercut if partner has ♠T, so you play back a ♣, but partner has no more trumps and declarers 2 losing ♥ go away on the ♣. The interesting part of this board was declarers play of ♠9, as we know he must have one lower, so why play ♠9? For a human it is obvious that there is no uppercut, but that is not clear for the bot. I ran a simulation if declarer had played a lower ♠ and now the best continuation was a ♦. So the clever declarer dropping the ♠9 gained 13 Imps instead of losing 13 as the other table played 4♠ [hv=url=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&lin=pn%7CHuman%2CRobot%2CRobot%2CRobot%7Cst%7C%7Cmd%7C4SAQT942HA64DK5CA6%2CSK86HJ85D87CJ8754%2CSJ53HQT2DAJ9CKQ93%2CS7HK973DQT6432CT2%7Csv%7CN%7Cah%7CBoard%202%7Cpc%7CD8%7Cpc%7CD9%7Cpc%7CDT%7Cpc%7CDK%7Cpc%7CCA%7Cpc%7CC4%7Cpc%7CC3%7Cpc%7CC2%7Cpc%7CC6%7Cpc%7CC5%7Cpc%7CCQ%7Cpc%7CCT%7Cpc%7CSJ%7Cpc%7CS7%7Cpc%7CS9%7Cpc%7CSK%7Cpc%7CC8%7Cpc%7CC9%7Cpc%7CD2%7Cpc%7CH4%7Cpc%7CS3%7Cpc%7CH7%7Cpc%7CSA%7Cpc%7CS8%7Cpc%7CSQ%7Cpc%7CS6%7Cpc%7CS5%7Cpc%7CD3%7Cmc%7C12%7C]399|300[/hv]

[hv=pc=n&n=sak843hjt6da3c863&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=1dp1sp2cp?]133|200[/hv] Partner stole the new minor forcing, so what to bid?
-
How can the book bid be 6♣? Looks like an error in the bidding database.

Probably a free bot as it is a challenge But I do not expect this to be a simulation

[hv=pc=n&n=saq6hj54dj96ckjt6&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1cp2cp2np4n(Quantitaive invite)p?]133|200[/hv] How can GIB accept the invite on this minimum hand with 4333 and 3 jacks? It is of course difficult for GIB to know, that the red jacks has no value as partner won't have a 4-card suit in red, but even then an accept is strange.

[hv=pc=n&n=sqj964h842dk65ckj&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=pp1s2c2s(To%20strong%20for%202S%20IMO)dp3d?]133|200[/hv] Now even with a super max and 5-card support, GIB sees no reason to bid again and passes - I assume that without the 2♣ GIB would have used Drury
-
Still not explaining how the bot comes to the 31+ points needed for bidding 4♥

Especially East in the pass-out situation must have run out of possible simulations (Partner opened and you have 16 HCP) The rest of the field (15 boards) all played 6♠ making.

2♠=10- mening up to 10 but could still be zero, so it is not included in anyway in the 31+

Install BBOHelper, then you can select the deal and export it directly to BBO Solver (Using Ald-D), where you can play the hand getting direct feedback with the available number of tricks
-
So to show an even number it is always the second lowest? It is often right to play the 9 from J9xx

Looking isolated at the suit, that could be right if declarer had KQ65 and was planning to duck, then declarer could finesse against J7, but that would require entries in dummy that is not there, but the worse mistake is that playing ♥7 also would open that possibility. So what ever simulation it found the 7 could never be right, but the 9 might be as in the actual layout.

As a VuGraph commentator I have been promoting the nice feature of kibitzing a single player (I think it was implemented last or this year), but I have had many request about, how that feature can be used on an IPad So this is my current announcement: Right click on a player and select kibitz if you want to see only what the player sees (On Phone use long press on Mac use Ctrl-Click) - This is not working on iPad It would be nice if you could fix it on iPad.

You continue with ♥K, that holds. What now? Playing with a human partner you would know partner has only 4♥s, but playing with a bot you can't be sure. But North has shown a balanced hand, so you can "see" he has 5 ♠-tricks. You are sure, that partner holds ♥AJ (North would never duck ♥K in this situation. So counting HCP, Dummy has 16, partner seems to have 5, and you have 7, leaving North with ♦A and ♣AK. So a shift to ♣Q as the bot did, can't be right. Perhaps it is once again one of the boards that are lost because GIB is taking a bluff in consideration - I think that mechanics should be removed
