  1. Perhaps GIB is just having a bad day This sequence is know to cost partnerships, so perhaps I should follow Stephen Merrimans advice and stop plyaing with the bots [hv=pc=n&n=sa92h8dqj642ca865&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=1h1sdp2c2spp3cp3nppp]133|200[/hv] Over 2♠ 3♣ seems to follow the normal bridge rules, and Pass seems just wrong. Now the explanation of 2♣ and 3♣ is the same, but the bot punishes partner for competing. Interesting this hand came up just a few boards later [hv=pc=n&n=saq2h9da9843cj762&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=1h1sdp2cp2n]133|200[/hv] So now the hand is worth 2N
  2. Perhaps I am influenced by the actual board, but this looks wrong to me [hv=pc=n&n=sajthq93dqj763cj6&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=2s3h3s?]133|200[/hv] Once again the bot passed
  3. [hv=pc=n&w=sqt4ht987654d5c42&d=n&v=e&b=1&a=1sp2d?]133|200[/hv] Putting the head on the block GIB found a 2♥ bid [hv=pc=n&n=sjh7dkj97ck987642&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=p1s2cp]133|200[/hv] But here with a 7-card support the bot saw no reason to bid, and passed 2♣ [hv=pc=n&e=s5ht963d3cqjt9832&d=s&v=b&b=3&a=1cp1s?]133|200[/hv] And this was worth 3♣

The ♥8 can never be the right card to play
  5. I am not sure North has denied 4♥, but a simulation shows that one way to set the contract is playing partner for AQxx in ♥. The real problem at this board is the ♥-continuation from West. - returning ♠ looks like bridge to me :-) But a fine example of why Robots still has a long way to go, as neither East nor West will have any clue about the reason for North to play a ♥
  6. [hv=pc=n&s=sajt753hak2dq8cj7&e=skq962hj874dj94c8&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=1sp2cp2sp3hp3sp4cp4hppp]266|200[/hv] iI think leading a ♦ should be obvious here, but it is difficult to argue with the bot doing its simulation, and finding the ♠K as opening lead. Now the interesting part is that declarer takes this with ♠A, discarding the ♦3 from hand, and takes the ♥A, where GIB in East drop ♥J. When can that be right?
  7. I would have lost the board anyway :-) [hv=url=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&lin=pn%7CHuman%2CRobot%2CRobot%2CRobot%7Cst%7C%7Cmd%7C1SHKQJ62DAK42CK652%2CSAT86H843DQTCQJT4%2CSKJ95HATD9763CA93%2CSQ7432H975DJ85C87%7Csv%7CE%7Cah%7CBoard%203%7Cmb%7C1H%7Can%7CMajor%20suit%20opening%20--%205%2B%20%21H%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C1S%7Can%7COne%20over%20one%20--%204%2B%20%21S%3B%206%2B%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C3N%7Can%7C2-5%20%21C%3B%202-5%20%21D%3B%205%20%21H%3B%202-3%20%21S%3B%2020-21%20HCP%3B%2022-%20total%20points%3B%20partial%20stop%20in%20%21C%3B%20partial%20stop%20in%20%21D%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C4N%7Can%7CQuantitative%20invite%20to%206NT%20--%204%2B%20%21S%3B%2012%20HCP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C5D%7Can%7C2-5%20%21C%3B%205-%20%21D%3B%205%20%21H%3B%202-3%20%21S%3B%2020-21%20HCP%3B%20biddable%20%21D%3B%2022-%20total%20points%3B%20partial%20stop%20in%20%21C%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C6D%7Can%7C4%2B%20%21D%3B%204%2B%20%21S%3B%2012%20HCP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cpc%7CCQ%7Cpc%7CC3%7Cpc%7CC8%7Cpc%7CCK%7Cpc%7CDA%7Cpc%7CDT%7Cpc%7CD3%7Cpc%7CD5%7Cpc%7CDK%7Cpc%7CDQ%7Cpc%7CD6%7Cpc%7CD8%7Cpc%7CH2%7Cpc%7CH3%7Cpc%7CHA%7Cpc%7CH5%7Cpc%7CHT%7Cpc%7CH9%7Cpc%7CHK%7Cpc%7CH8%7Cpc%7CHQ%7Cpc%7CH4%7Cpc%7CC9%7Cpc%7CH7%7Cpc%7CHJ%7Cpc%7CS8%7Cpc%7CS5%7Cpc%7CDJ%7Cpc%7CS7%7Cpc%7CD2%7Cpc%7CS6%7Cpc%7CS9%7Cpc%7CH6%7Cpc%7CC4%7Cpc%7CSJ%7Cpc%7CS4%7Cpc%7CC2%7Cpc%7CCJ%7Cpc%7CCA%7Cpc%7CC7%7Cpc%7CSK%7Cpc%7CS2%7Cpc%7CD4%7Cpc%7CST%7Cpc%7CC6%7Cpc%7CCT%7Cpc%7CD7%7Cpc%7CSQ%7Cpc%7CD9%7Cpc%7CS3%7Cpc%7CC5%7Cpc%7CSA%7C]399|300[/hv] World Bridge Challenge is using the free bots. Interesting if BBO will offer Argine in the challenge section
  8. Just found a new version of this problem [hv=pc=n&n=skj95hatd9763ca93&d=s&v=e&b=1&a=1hp1sp2cp?]133|200[/hv] The bot found no bid so it passed Strange when partners 2♣ is 11-16 HCP
  9. I was not the player and South lost 2 Imp on this board, so even the extra overtrick would have seen me thru to the quarterfinals :-) But that was just to make a story about the deal. Undo is a difficult subject, but here was one, where it for me looks like a missclick, and I have a couple of my own in the bag:-)
  10. For those interested This was my hand [hv=pc=n&s=sakjt64hdacaqj875]133|100[/hv]
  11. Losing a 3-way match in the World Bridge Challenge is never fun, but seeing my opponents draw the last match so I basically lost by an IMP makes it worse. So naturally I had a look at the match and the first board was this [hv=url=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&lin=pn%7CHuman%2CRobot%2CRobot%2CRobot%7Cst%7C%7Cmd%7C3SAK75H932DAJ4CKT6%2CSQJ832HDKT862CQ52%2CSHAKJT64D97CAJ987%2CST964HQ875DQ53C43%7Csv%7C0%7Cah%7CBoard%201%7Cmb%7C1H%7Can%7CMajor%20suit%20opening%20--%205%2B%20%21H%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C1S%7Can%7COne%20over%20one%20--%204%2B%20%21S%3B%206%2B%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C2C%7Can%7COpener%20two%20rebid%20--%204%2B%20%21C%3B%204-%20%21D%3B%205%2B%20%21H%3B%203-%20%21S%3B%2011-16%20HCP%3B%2012-18%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C4H%7Can%7C3%2B%20%21H%3B%204%2B%20%21S%3B%2012%2B%20HCP%3B%2013-14%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cpc%7CD3%7Cpc%7CDA%7Cpc%7CD8%7Cpc%7CD7%7Cpc%7CSA%7Cpc%7CS2%7Cpc%7CCA%7Cpc%7CS6%7Cpc%7CH9%7Cpc%7CS3%7Cpc%7CH4%7Cpc%7CHQ%7Cpc%7CD5%7Cpc%7CD4%7Cpc%7CDK%7Cpc%7CD9%7Cpc%7CDT%7Cpc%7CHA%7Cpc%7CDQ%7Cpc%7CDJ%7Cpc%7CHK%7Cpc%7CH7%7Cpc%7CH2%7Cpc%7CS8%7Cpc%7CHJ%7Cpc%7CH8%7Cpc%7CH3%7Cpc%7CC2%7Cpc%7CHT%7Cpc%7CH5%7Cpc%7CS5%7Cpc%7CD6%7Cpc%7CC7%7Cpc%7CC4%7Cpc%7CCK%7Cpc%7CC5%7Cpc%7CCT%7Cpc%7CCQ%7Cpc%7CC8%7Cpc%7CC3%7Cpc%7CD2%7Cpc%7CH6%7Cpc%7CS4%7Cpc%7CS7%7Cmc%7C10%7C]399|300[/hv] A terrible missclick

Perhaps 4♥ over 2N might have solved the problem, but it seems unlimited But 4♦ and 4♠ looks wrong to me, as the hand is very nice defined by 2N. This is not an advanced robot
  16. 1N-4♣ is Gerber (But can be used to show both major, or something else) Texas (1N-4Red is transfer) is used for a hand, whit either no slam interest, or a hand, that just want to set trump and ask for aces 1N-3♥ is not setting ♥, but could be, then it would be a hand looking for 3N 1NT - 2♦ - 2♥ - 4♥ is mildly slammish, and opener is expected to move on with max and controls Transfer followed by jump in a new suit is splinter and looking for the perfect fit
  17. I think anyone who responds 4N to a Texas-transfer, should not be allowed to comment on partners bidding, not even when the partner is a bot. Personally I think that the developers of the bot should hardcode Pass for a bid like 4N, unless the plan was to continue with 4N after the transfer
  18. I would probably double in real bridge, but playing with bots it could be right to pass first and then enter the auction later
  19. This board is an example, where the bots are spoiling the fun [hv=url=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&lin=pn%7CHuman%2CRobot%2CRobot%2CRobot%7Cst%7C%7Cmd%7C4S3HQ2DKQJT84CKQT4%2CSQJ97HJT73DA65CA8%2CSAK852HKD932CJ653%2CST64HA98654D7C972%7Csv%7C0%7Cah%7CBoard%2014%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C1D%7Can%7CMinor%20suit%20opening%20--%203%2B%20%21D%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C1S%7Can%7COne%20over%20one%20--%204%2B%20%21S%3B%206%2B%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C2D%7Can%7COpener%20rebids%20his%20D%20--%203-%20%21S%3B%2011-15%20HCP%3B%20twice%20rebiddable%20%21D%3B%2012-16%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C2N%7Can%7CBalanced%20invite%20--%204-5%20%21S%3B%2011-12%20HCP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C3N%7Can%7C5-%20%21H%3B%203-%20%21S%3B%2014-15%20HCP%3B%20twice%20rebiddable%20%21D%3B%2016-%20total%20points%3B%20partial%20stop%20in%20%21C%3B%20partial%20stop%20in%20%21H%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cpc%7CC2%7Cpc%7CCK%7Cpc%7CCA%7Cpc%7CC3%7Cpc%7CSQ%7Cpc%7CSA%7Cpc%7CS4%7Cpc%7CS3%7Cpc%7CD2%7Cpc%7CD7%7Cpc%7CDK%7Cpc%7CDA%7Cpc%7CS7%7Cpc%7CSK%7Cpc%7CS6%7Cpc%7CH2%7Cmc%7C10%7C]399|300[/hv] 2N is a balanced invite, but looks terrible to me (as 3♦, just shows the hand) Now what would you lead from East? Well the Bot found a small ♣. West used the ♣A and switched to ... a ♠ (dummys weakness), so a contract that was 3 down from the beginning ended with an overtrick Now at the replay I rebid 2♣, and here the robot got it right and bid 3♦ ending the auction.

  22. Yes, it would be nice with an updated version of GIB. You can pay for the advanced Bot, but still there is along way to go. In my opinion the free bot is so terrible that BBO should not use it all :-) I started playing the World Bridge Challenge (https://befjegy.hu/mb/) and found the competition was interesting and better than just competing against friends in the challenge-section. I do especially like the idea that we all have the same opponents and partner :-) And they are consistent. Defending is unfortunately very bad with the lack of signals, but GIB seems to use some signals, and I am still trying to figure out when and how :-) When I started my reporting of the many oddities in GIB back in August this year I hoped it could help BBO improving, but until now I haven't got any reactions, neither on the posts in this forum or on the mails I have written to the CTO of BBO.
