  1. Give partner as little as 3 small hearts and the K of clubs and we can make on a 3/2 split. I guess I will bid 4 clubs. But I never get what I am looking for.
  2. ALL RED MPs LEAD: ♦K 1♦ shows 5+ [hv=pc=n&s=skj93hq9d43cqt732&n=s82hajt8643dacj95&d=w&v=3&b=1&a=1d3hppp]400|300[/hv]
  3. Just a sarcastic post by me. I didn't expect to get serious replies.
  4. This is 100% true. I personally am ecstatic that you understand this logic. The 4-3-3-3 zero is the perfect hand to raise partner to grand with. Partner has shown that he was interested in playing a possible grand by doubling then signing off in 6 of a suit. Our 3 card support is simply worthless at this point. Why give the opponents the chance to sacrifice the slam when we can do it ourselves? By bidding this way, we are effectively removing any chance of the opponents trying to play 7 in one of their suits! It truly is genius, and a pure delight to have seen in action.
  5. I might just try 7NT on a prayer...but more curious question is how likely partner is to hold 4 diamonds when they are known to have 2 hearts and less than 5 clubs. Does bidding 4♦ here typically promise 6 hearts? With 2 hearts and 3 diamonds partner may very well just bid 4♥. But, with 5/5 in the suits, of course we want to show our good ♦ suit as well. Edit: Forgot that there was 4♥ as a cue already...answered my own question.
  6. You can put gszeszycki and I up to play. :) We are prepared for boot camp, sir.
  7. Just give me all the MPs and nobody will get hurt...
  8. I would contact the TD after...regarding the LOL. Any time we must play them after, I will have two cards ready, opened, facing them, and give a brief system overview before play. If she asks, the director is on their way. The thing I never understood is...when there are convention cards available, asking for an explanation of an opening bid is simply pointless and lazy. If the card says that 1C is 2+ suit, no 5cM unless 65 or greater, then asking is pointless.
  9. This link seems alright. http://www.wednesdaygame.com/ba/1nt/jacobytransfers1.htm
  10. Welcome to the forums andrito. Transfers are useful because they give us a chance to allow responder to describe their hand more without taking up any extra bidding room. Another thing that happens due to transfers, is that the declarer will always be the NT bidder. This causes the others to play into his hand which is most likely to have the useful honors which make the lead that much harder. They also cannot see his values. The 1N bidder is almost always required to reply with the transfer suit. Many play a super accept bid, showing 4-5 of the trump suit, but this is not required. For example... 1N-2♦ - transfer to ♥s - at least 5 ♥s and any amount of HCP. 2♥-AP This shows 0-7 points, at least 5 ♥s and the responder feels it is better to play in the trump suit rather than NT. 1N-2♦ 2♥-2N This is an invite to 3NT or 4♥ with exactly 5 ♥s. 1N-2♦ 2♥-3♥ This is an invite to 4♥ with at least 6 ♥s. 1N-2♦ 2♥-3N This shows game values and exactly 5♥. It is up to the opener to decide if they want to play game in NT or ♥. 1N-2♦ 2♥-4♥ This is a sign-off in ♥s...6+♥ usually. I will look for some links to give you also and post them when I find them. Good luck...
  11. I'll put some albums I like a lot up too...wth...lol Maybe not my "favorites of all time", but some I listen to a bit... A Day To Remember - What Seperates Me From You Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory Linkin Park - Meteora Sum 41 - Chuck R.E.M. - (don't really have a favorite album, I mix and mash my own) Metallica - Ride The Lightning Megadeth - (but again, mostly my own mix cds or best hits)(I do love their album covers though) The Offspring - (can listen to any of their albums all day)
  12. You lied to GIB...he invites you to slam...interest in grand... If you tell someone you like them, they will assume this to be true and keep nagging you.
  13. On a more serious note...I pass. Although double will most likely take the hand down...but I am paranoid any time I play in these tournies. Partner probably sitting on a ♠ void and the other opp has the other ♠ and void in our other suit... :) Evilness at it's best.
  14. 7♦ by N is a preempt? This must be that so called goulash with agreements about this before hand. In that case I will go with the obvious 8♦.
  15. Never seen one tried or pulled off, but I have seen the opposite I suppose. Does this one have a name? Searching that link as we speak...lol When you double the opponents in a poor contract, and they redouble, then you or partner thinks it over and pulls to a hopeless contract. Derp...
  16. I do think that something should be done. Players who have not proven themselves should not play in TCRs, but, once they prove that they do play in tournaments and stay they should not lose their TCR unless they drop under the requirement. I host tournies when I have time, and had no idea that the TCR works like this. I will not use it in the future unless it is changed. :( It is a good tool for a host to use also...so that is a shame.
  17. More thinking let's say we knew which key partner has, the other ace and QJxxx of H. We are playing at a local club of varying skill levels. Do we want to take the slightly above 50% slam try?
  18. ♠: 2 ♥: AT762 ♦: Q42 ♣: AQ73 ♠: 4 ♥: QJ543 ♦: AKT7 ♣: K42 First hand opens the bidding... (0314 w/ splinter used) 1♥-3♠* 4♣*-4♦* 4N-5♦ 5♥-?? (1430 w/ splinter used) 1♥-3♠* 4♣*-4♦* 4N-5♣ 5♦/♥-?? Can we even really ask about the Q? What if we are missing 2 side aces? (any A? w/ 2/1 GF used rather than a splinter) 1♥-2♦ 3♦-3♥ 3♠*-4♣* 4N-?? Should the K of ♦ be a key? Should we avoid using RKC and continue control bidding in all?
  19. I just use wht mgoetze had nicely shared in the General forum. I can change it/use a smaller window in the future if it bothers many.
  20. I knew very well what 3♣ said to my partner. I only bid it because I thought maybe he had something better based on how the whole day had gone from him in general. If anything I decided for once to trust him by passing 3♠! The thing is I was damn well right about my thinking that he was in another monster hand that he cannot see. This is the same partner who couldn't understand how strong.. KT54 - AKT7643 A5 was after the bidding went from me... 1D-(2N*)-?? 3D was his bid...I rose to 5D with... AQJ9 AJ94 Q982 8 with no real agreements such as splinters, control bidding, etc. This bid was PASSED! So I am getting quite annoyed with all of these comments about my level of play when I !!DO KNOW!! that 3C is a strong bid IN A PARTNERSHIP WITH SOME KINDA LOGIC. The guy is a very nice gentleman. A great friend to have. I only pard him because I feel rather horrible trying to explain to him that I would rather play with somebody better. I would hate to lose a friendship over such a silly thing. I often take our hands here as a way to vent my frustrations. I am very competitive, I do not mind losing, but it absolutely drives me mad to do your best against 3 half the night.
  21. In the other thread, I had thought the auction had started with my partner 1st to bid. So I thought I would put it in a new thread to see if in either case I did something extremely wrong. My 3C bid was an extreme overbid, but I was fishing for some tops on the last few boards as well so hoped for a possible 3NT.
  22. Show us what happens if he doubles 3♠ and they raise to 4♠.
