  1. irdoz , nice one hahahaha, I am always flabbergasted by the arrogance of people, just because they are good at bridge some of them think they can post and say what they like and that they look down their noses at people, there is a poster on these forums that I could imagine doing exactly what you described (possibly more than one) hahaha
  2. Hi all I am in a quandry here, I was watching Vu Graph just now and talking to a friend, nothing bridge related just chit chat, she was told off by Vugraph 2 for talking whilst VuGraph was on. 1/. you can not directly talk to a table while watching VuGraph, so how does Vugraph2 know what she was saying? 2/. What exactly was her crime 3/. Do Vugraph people have access to private conversation whilst VuGraph is on?
  3. Fred, Sherri and Uday Nice one, it is nice to see people that start something they want to for honorable reasons go on to make money, I have had a few dealings with the three amigos that run BBO (this is meant in the nicest possible way) andf all I can say, is you are genuine people that care and are very helpful and supportive of others and if you make a fortune from this, well, I hope you live a long time to enjoy spending it
  4. You must be a pretty good player Phil, I would love to see only -52.3 imps down occasionally
  5. No, why am I talking b*******s as usual?
  6. THis is automatic? I can't believe anyone can say that, just because someone likes to reset the score does not make them rude, it just means they like to start with a clean sheet, they may be rude people (but how can you judge that just because they ask for an undo
  7. I think you should start reading nuts and loaded, it requires less thinking
  8. I did fool myself, thats what happens when you never think at the table :)
  9. The train was quite crowded, so a U.S. Marine walked the entire length >looking for a seat, but the only seat left was taken by a well dressed, >middle-aged, French woman's poodle. > >The war-weary Marine asked, "Ma'am, may I have that seat?" The French woman >just sniffed and said to no one in particular, "Americans are so rude. My >little Fifi is using that seat." > >The Marine walked the entire train again, but the only seat left was under >that dog. "Please, ma'am. May I sit down? I'm very tired." She snorted, >"Not >only are you Americans rude, you are also arrogant!" > >This time the Marine didn't say a word; he just picked up the little dog, >tossed it out the train window, and sat down. > >The woman shrieked, "Someone must defend my honor! This American should be >put in his place!" > >An English gentleman sitting nearby spoke up, "Sir, you Americans often >seem >to have a penchant for doing the wrong thing. You hold the fork in the >wrong >hand. You drive your autos on the wrong side of the road. And now, sir, you >seem to have thrown the wrong bitch out the window.
  10. A convict breaks into a house, and ties up the husband and wife. He jumps on the wife, kisses her ear, then runs to the bathroom. The husband whispers to his wife "satisfy him or he will kill us. I saw the way he kissed you, just be strong, I love you." The wife replies "he didn't kiss me, he whispered in my ear he's gay and horny and looking for vaseline. I told him it's in the bathroom. Let's see who's ****** strong now?
  11. pard has A53 I have QJ987 dummy has K1062 I lead 8 4th highest and dummy played 2 pard played 3 the 8 held I then switched as I assumed pard was discouraging, should I have read that better ?
  12. Some different views 1. Clearing the score clears my movie results and makes it so I can not review the last hand or other previous hands. Often after a session I like to scan through this to find boards that need discussion or that I might want to post online. I much prefer to review this than use the my hands link. 1a. You can open another link to do this and then toggle between pages (admitedly there is a delay) 1b. It is rude to study your hands when you should be playing bridge with 3 other people 1c. dont use the myhands facility use the movies button BBO provides, there are easier ways to review than my hands 2. Please look up at the board number. I have been playing here awhile. Opponents come and go (often after 1 or 2 hands) but I stay the same. I want to be able to review my results and resetting every couple boards, when I'm going to be here for 50, is silly IMHO. 2a. How can the score be meaningful when you have having people flit back and forth during a 50 hand session with pick up pards? 3. People discriminate in score reset requests. The vast number of requests come when I am plus 30. Last night I was minus imps for 60 boards in a row: not one reset score request. Coincidence? I don't think so. 3a. I find this attitude sucks, (I do not mean to be rude to you) but I seriously can't see your arguement here (see answer 2a.) 4. It is more difficult for me to keep track of plus or minus imps with multiple resets in a session. All the newcomer has to do is set his baseline (i.e. the current imp score) and he will always know if he is plus or minus for his time at the table. i.e. if you come to my table and the score is -17.2 imps for you, take note. Later that number is your 0. If you're higher then, "Well done!" If you are not, please stay a little while more ;-). see 2a. (again reitterating what does it matter playing 50 hands with table hoppers) 5. It is my table. Either my partner or I are hosting it. We do not have to reset the score and, in fact, we will not. You can whine and stomp and complain, but we will not reset the score. If you have strong feelings on this, you should just go host your own table. Bye now. 5a. I totally agree with you, this is your perogative as a table host (I just think it is a poor attitude)
  13. Would you like me to run an official poll on this Ken ? :P
  14. pass pass 1 diamond pass 1 spade 2 hearts pass pass 3 clubs pass 3 spades (perhaps not wise)( Ax clubs xx spades) all pass what hand do you need to bid 3 clubs
  15. well at least I am with the majority of pollsters this time
  16. Little Johnny watched his daddy's car pass by the school playground and go into the woods. Curious, he followed the car and saw Daddy and Aunt Jane in a passionate embrace. Little Johnny found this so exciting that he could not contain himself as he ran home and started to tell his mother, - Mommy, I was at the playground and I saw Daddy's car go into the woods with Aunt Jane. I went back to look and he was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, then he helped her take off her shirt. Then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane... At this point Mommy cut him off and said, "Johnny, this is such an interesting story, suppose you save the rest of it for suppertime. I want to see the look on Daddy's face when you tell it tonight." At the dinner table, Mommy asked little Johnny to tell his story. Johnny started his story, "I was at the playground and I saw Daddy's car go into the woods with Aunt Jane. I went back to look and he was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, and then he helped her take off her shirt. Then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane and Daddy started doing the same thing that Mommy and Uncle Bill used to do when Daddy was in the Army. Mommy fainted! THE MORAL HERE IS: Sometimes you need to listen to the whole story before you interrupt.
  17. actually Hannie, I cant believe you are dumb enough to make the assumption that I indicated that there were no poor people in America from what I have written There will always be poor people in a rich country like america, that is what makes the rich "RICH" I never said some charities are not worth while and benifical just that I think Charity wont solve starvation
  18. starting a buisness in the US is not really charitable, as I dont recall the last person in the US to die of starvation, unless it was one of theirr size zero models
  19. please give hard facts on this ? TV news reports generally come from someone telling them what they want the TV news people to hear, statistics say a lot, but prove very little, there are an awful lot of statisticians about that for a few $ will provide statistical evidence about anything anyone wants people to believe
  20. here is (possibly) not a comment that would be well recieved about old people " old people, who struggle to manage after finishing work because the state pension does not fully cover thier needs to give a good life style" possible reasons 1/. not enough charitable donations? 2/. We never bothered to save as it is the governments responsibility to look after us, (we fought and died in the war for our country) ((interesting concept about this statement and I have actually heard it used in this debate) 3/. We were promised a pot of gold by successive governments (well you voted the bastards in on the back of promises that in all reailty were never sustainable from the start (greed)
  21. cheap operations to cure blindness and give people their life back. It's very hard to argue that they become dependent on blindness operations and never learn to solve their own problems! Owen This is a valid reason to help some one Hunger is NOT cured by any form of charity There is enough food in the world for everyone, the goverments are the ones that can make a difference, not joe public, unless you want to vote in someone who has good solid moral standards and genuinely wants to make the world a better place Most of the powerful governments will help some one as long as they want to be like them or do things thier way............ ask yourself why anyone goes hungry these days and it wont be because not enough people donate money to charity
  22. please don't take some one with a simplistic view as some one who is not prepared to help people, or even does not care about others, this would not be true, I have a personal opinion of charities and the people running them, which I am sure would cause a great deal of debate on here as I would not be complimentary about many of them ( or more to the point the people that run them) Erick, give me an example of what you say in real life, where they have helped learn to fish and then said great thx, no more aid required?
  23. hand 1 ur pard is not passed and you have the heart shortage, so I think not ideal, but I would x especially as opp has taken advantage of being non vuln and could be robbing you blind I would pass hand 2 as I need quite a bit more to x this
