I had this hand come up on BBO earlier. Partner a random but appears strong. [hv=pc=n&s=sk5hdakqt9752c874&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=1n(15-17)p]133|200[/hv] I wasn't sure what to do here: We were playing 4 way transfers so I could've transfered and bid exclusion but I thought it was too risky with my Kx spade holding. Therefore I simply bid 6D thinking the risk of having the contract wrongsided was too great vs the gain of possibly finding a grand. Obviously there was the risk of 2 quick club losers. Is there any scientific way to bid the hand!! Thanks Eagles

the problem with this as with any rating system is the huge jump from intermediate to advanced, but it's very useful so thanks :)

Interesting stuff, I think part of the problem is that the novice/beginner forum has nothing to do with novice or beginners. There are pretty much no beginners on the forum really. Even the ones that come and post there imo post intermediate level problems. for example, http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/64852-attitude-signals/ do we think real life N/B players even know what signalling is! virtually everything in there is lower level intermediate or higher. it's like I/A has virtually no low level intermediate stuff it's all high intermediate or better. maybe the forums should be re-categorized as like level 1 level 2 and level 3 or something. I really think it might put people off joining when for example they're an intermediate and find I/A a complete mind ***** or the same with N/B looking at the N/B section and thinking what on earth is going on.

i'm probably missing something but we seem to have given false count in both H and S?anyway 22 + 18 = 0 left for p and i think declarer likely 3244 as otherwise might opt for a major fit instead of nt. how to defeat the contract havent a clue

i think the club lead is likely singleton with 6 hearts as he might bid 4 with 7 so i thnk his sh ape will be 3631 or 4621 or 2641. with the k d shift suggesting a d onour sequence so prob not 4621. therefore i would win the diamond and play 1 trump hoping for the 2641 shape. if w is 3631 i'm prob screwed though lol
