Marc I do no witchhunting. For me everybody is very welcome to whatever they want unless one thing. If they want to play at my table it is because they want to play with me. If they want to play with others or in other set ups - then please stay away from my tables. Rudeness is not accepted - but accepted until now in a limited way. Now it looks like this lock can be tightened - and I am very happy with that.
-
Maybe you have a simple solution here Fritz - please come up with some more.
-
You are just missing the point Marc. Playing 15-30 minutes makes no sense. Those are not insterested in what we are doing - they have just nothing else to do with their time. They are waiting for something more attractive to them than playing with me. I want those to stay away. I really think creating an alternative way for play for those with no interest might be a good solution. Not only for those waiting for something else but also for those many who think bothering me for 15 minutes in their coffee break is acceptable - and it is NOT. It is not whether they inform or not - as I now see Hotshot is writing. But most dont inform. But really information or not makes not much of a difference. Meaning 20-40 persons to be reported each day. Please remember those left at the table are all innocent but suffering those violating 'rules for these sites.' NO TD's must be creative and come up with solutions not harming innocent people. Then lets talk about your proposals. Hotshot you are quite right - in future you will need other ways to find substitutes.
-
Hotshot please take a look into Main Club when some of the tourneys starts up. Crashes for 15-20 tables is quite normal. Right most don't do so - but enough. It is a really big problem. Those acting in a correct way will not be affected by the solution proposed by Uday. Stating something in table description - it is not read or simply ignored. Has been discussed very often. Reporting rudeness from Main Club - FG would soon need more staff to handle that.
-
Reading Maureen's post I came to think of a solution which might be good to even those I have no intensions else to help. As I remember Uday has told in Forum earlier it is so that players at a table in the public club 'Total Points Club' is not sucked into tourney. How about creating a public club 'Tourney waiting Club' from which players will be sucked into tourneys. Then those to be sucked will be defined as not playing or playing in 'Tourney waiting Club' - and nobody else. Those playing there will be playing while waiting and for no other reason. No offence by sucking can occur here.
-
Uday's solution is excellent because the offender will be penalized this time and not the victim. I think that is fair so. - If a person forget his tourney appointment - he will miss the tourney and so his partner - If a person leaves table in the middle of a game - he will be penalized for violation BBO rules for decent behavior - The player will be forced to think himself taken notice of his own appointments - a very healthy way Udays way will be very helpful for a more responsible behavior by all! You can always send a message from a tourney to people you were playing with to apologize if you forgot to tell them, but cannot receive a mesage back. Occasionally I receive such - I notice in that way I have been playing with people who are conscious of their misbehavior. The offence is though still the same. For 'Flame' - yes I have several kinds of rudeness in mind. I would like to see if people have less than 1 hour for play - they dont sit at my table. I would like to see if they have less than 1/2 hour software would aut. prevent them to sit. - Udays solution looks right to me and more simple for software to handle I think.
-
Flame you might be right if we talk about people like me - old people with poor memory. Thats not those we are talking about. Most people signs up for tourney 2-3 hours ahead of start. Please look into signup lists 24+ hours ahead from now. BBO cannot be for the nurse for lazy people. If they want to engage in something they have a responsibility themselves. Their own real responsibility is to be right in time. Too much demand for grown up people you think? Software can handle those with poor moral in those cases where the poor moral also implies violations of the BBO rules for how to behave. The poor moral of those who disturbs me and others by occupying a seat in Main Bridge Club because they have nothing else to do right now or they maybe have 15 minutes lasting of their lunch-break. Such foolishness software can do nothing about but all contributes to bad experiences. People coming in - playing 1-2 hands - and leaving. If people want to play bridge in Main Club - do so! Welcome to my table. If people have something else to do - Main Club is not the place to enter!
-
No Frosty - no solution. To suck people away from a table is ruining our fun but we dont want those people who has 15-30-45 minutes left and nothing else to do. I want them to stay away. If they are not engaged in my game I am not interested to deal with them at all. They are welcome to kibitz but with 30-45 minutes left till their thourney starts - they must stay away from playing at ordinary tables in Main bridge club. Involve yourself into more discussions - and you will soon advance into something new - I dont know what - please let us know ;)
-
Occasionally some may forget they have registered. As I understand Uday now - then he will put the pressure to those who it belongs to - the player himself. He will simply miss the tourney and his partner too in this way. Excellent. A good way to impose some kind of selfdiscipline. - Step 2 of that will of course be same procedure for substitutes. If somebody need a reminder - they can find a lot of applications with all kind of reminders. BBO dont need to deal with that. If you want to play bridge with me Mark for an hour or 2 you will be very welcome. If you have less time - please don't sit. Mark I play with people from all over the world. I enjoy this way of get together very much. You prefer to play with your local friends. - We are all free here to choose the way we prefer - and good so!
-
Please go ahead Uday. Looks like your solution is good - hope very much also simple to implement. I and many others will be waiting impatiently. For clarification. I said banned - I mean banned as partner for me. Nothing else I can decide of course.

Good luck Misho! I see you will be very busy for at least the coming 20 years. B) -
I dont care at all if you cannot get subs. or you will face other problems. The rudeness is leaving a table in the middle of a game or just joining a table with no intension of serious play. I have had partners who just wanted to play with me until their tourney starts or they were sucked in as substitutes. They I have banned all of course. That must be stopped NOW Decency must have the priority and nothing else.
-
Acc. to Slawinski/Ruminski it is so: - 25% 0-7 HcP - 50% 8-12 HcP - 25% 13+ HcP It is very much taken into consideration for system design. Not only, but most significant, by Slawinski/Ruminski. You see a constant lowering the opening levels. In fact thats what is ruining the older systems - often based on uncontested actions. Meckwell is those I think who really tries to deal with the topic. 9-12 NT open for favorable is a way. The standard Precision opening level they have lowered to from 11 to 10. The KS(Kaplan-Sheinwold)-system from the 50's is also based on that theory.
-
Fine Marc that you are a decent man. But this is not only about those who want to violent decency - the suddenly disappearing from a bridge must be stopped. The reason for disappearing is of no relevance. We must STOP the ability to sit in main club if you have signed up for a tourney starting within 1/2 hour or if you have signed up for availability as substitute. The way rudeness is carried out counts - not wheter intended or not.
-
Some reminder is certainly not enough. As far as I can see the priority in favour of tournaments is so hard that us who prefer thinking and fun need to accept this kind of rudeness. A table option to prevent such people to be able to sit will certainly solve the problem. It is not serious with all those sitting for 5-10-15 minutes because they have nothing else to do. I have earlier suggested a button to enforce decent behavior - a ban of people who have signed up for a tourney scheduled fx. within 1/2 hour will certainly be a part of that. Mandatory use of convention card and aut. report of people leaving in the middle of a game would all be a part of such enforcement. In that way we will be on a good way to apply to the rules for BBO.

You might very well be correct Misho. The fact is very few bulgarians knows the correct versions. It is always the annoying private interpretations. Added to the language barrier it can sometimes be a hard job to play with bulgarians. Funny - the romanians and the hungarians always knows the correct versions. Would be very nice to inform your countryfellows Misho. Then I am sure such problems like those Flame informs of will be rare in future.

Ron the files are correct acc. to the Belladonna/Garozzo book. Of course there might be a few faults - with 360 web-sites for a system such is un-avoidable. Then they will be corrected when I am informed. The word 'Epsilon' is not used. It might refer to some of the many modifications of TAB/CAB/OMEGA. I have no idea. The sequence: 1♣ - 1♥♠ - 1NT is called 'special control asking bid' - the definitions you see here(page 214): http://free.hostdepartment.com/c/csdenmark/BG/BGS-CAB2.htm The sequence: 1♣ - 1♥ - 1♠ is OMEGA(supp. asking bid). The definitions you see here(page 213): http://free.hostdepartment.com/c/csdenmark/BG/BGS-OMEGA.htm The sequence: 1♣ - 1♠ - 2♠ is TAB(Modified trump asking bid). The definitions you see here(page 154, same as standard version): http://free.hostdepartment.com/c/csdenmark/BG/BGS-TAB.htm Regarding our former discussion in another thread regarding openings you will now notice I have added some clickable sites with opening requirements for each of the features acc. to book and not my interpretations. I dont think it will be possible to play SUPERprecision Jannersteen vs. Belladonna/Garozzo for partnership. Standard versions will work I think but not SUPER. It is new to me that Precision was used only/mainly due to sponsorships. On the other hand some reason you need to have for choosing 'A' instead of 'B'. So it is in life in general. I also wonder why Garozzo have given up Precision approach completely - so if you have more information I would be very interested. I assume his reasons are a part of private sphere but if you know of public statements or so it will certainly be interesting.

I cannot handle OK script generator. Seems very complicated to me. Remotekeys is ready to use. Open chat box as default. But the most simple way and thats the one I prefer is simply to create texts in WORDS as links. The link text is displayed and you are always sure to have full text. Just 'mark link' - 'copy link' - 'insert link'.

If you want to give SUPERprecision a try I have now uploaded files to help you handling. You navigate from here: http://groups.msn.com/bridgeFILES/precision1.msnw

Create a special ID for that Lexica. Some has done so informing they dont want to talk if they are logged under that. Look up for 'Cascade1' - silent ID but 'Cascade' is for communication.
-
Or simply disable all chat. - You do so in your profile. Chat to players in tournaments software aut. disable chat to. I don't like this way to be shut out from friends. - But that's another story. The problem is not to set the options - but to remember to switch back into normal mode.

Various Bidding Systems Tournament
csdenmark replied to melviss666's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Yes Melvis Rays Bridge Ladder is something like a tournament club. The standing on the ladder is your current assessment of your strength. You access from this link: http://rays.ustc.edu.cn/Ladder/Bridgeteam/ I agree playing special systems or correct versions you will normally find good players. Therefore I dont need to restrict anything. -
Various Bidding Systems Tournament
csdenmark replied to melviss666's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Signing up for Rays Bridge Ladder I think you will be able to meassure your system opposite all else on the ladder. That is for teams and pairs acc. to your own preferences. -
with weak NT system, opener's rebids
csdenmark replied to DJNeill's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Right Charlie - KS also looks very good to me. As a proponent of strong club systems I often wonder why it is so simple to handle KS. Looks like you with the strong openings and narrow bid limits have something like you are a step ahead of the 1♣ opening in fx. Precision. I normally dont pay much attention to the quick trick openings - which might be lighter openings. Maybe the secrecy of the system is the players - seems much disciplined when playing KS.
