Right Uday! I have earlier asked the TD's to come up with some kind of creativity - but until now they seems not ready to communicate in order to search for good solutions for all. The advantage of the public club solution is it is very simple to implement because no software modifications needed. Only information is needed. Lift off will be able to take place in minutes. Then we can try something and discuss on the basis of experience instead of pure anger and frustration.

Exactly Frosty - that would be helpful to all. Nothing else needed than you mail Fred@bridgebase.com asking him to create a public club named CASUAL BRIDGE. Whoops - it will be there and all happy. All works in exactly the same manner as MBC and no reporting for table jumping will be accepted from that area. It is for all with 1-30 minutes.

Web page of genius Lukasz Slawinski

Ron you might very well be right that I have received a version of Suspensor from you. I once had an english version, I think created in Canada. This was not correct - it was a private interpretation and not complete. I cannot find that one anymore so either deleted or renamed. The only doc-version of Suspensor I today have on my PC is a polish one received from Poland I remember. I think it is the Longin Bartnik Web-sites but really dont know. Ron if you have a correct version of Suspensor in any other language than polish I will be very interested. It is the 6-9 and 10-12 bids which differs the system from Bez Nazwy. Those I cannot figure out in polish - but I think the 10-12 section is in english in Superlambda file. I dont agree that Suspensor is complicated. I play Bez Nazwy with new partners - most hungarians, bulgarians, russians and poles. Maybe you think of T-Rex. Those files I still have but they are really complicated - as you rightfully have stated earlier. Marcel I remember very well your work for abolishing ban of restrictions. That dont change my view that after the Wall has come down also the poles now knows that fighting regulators is nothing else than confirming their power. Nothing they like more than that. The only way to fight such is disobedience. -

No Ben I dont think so. Slawinski/Ruminski are not famous and are not known due to old outdated statements made by young enthusiastic bridge players. They are known and famous because they have been able to create some good and practical tools based on theory. Others have done something similar. By that time several of the systems we today regard as something very special were created. Slawinski/Ruminski did not create one system based on one theory. They used their theory and created many systems based on the same theory. All as examples of the univesality of the theory. The famous was not a specific creation but the ability to convert the theory into something for practical use for many. The way they did that - is the way all can walk benefitting from the theory. That's the famous of those 2 persons - and not any of their specific creations. The WEB-site looks obsolete to me. PS! At least one of the uploaded articles might be violating copyright-legislation. -

A strong-club system for beginners?
csdenmark replied to helene_t's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
Right Mike - thats exactly why anything else will fail - the name 'acol dutch' or "Biedermeijer Groen". Now we all at least have learned the correct dutch name for 'acol dutch.' Many Precision players in China and India but I think also there the national system is a standard classic approach. We need to take into consideration that those we meet on WEB are all a part of a very small minority from the respective countries. The vast majority will never just give WEB a thought for play of bridge. An american friend once told me he started bridge to learn KS(Kaplan-Sheinwold). Very difficult he said but a good school - something like the info Dwayne came up with about his starting with Precision. In those days Goren basic was the sole runner anywhere else. -

As well as me Misho you can see what is there. Regres? Lambda? Bez Nazwy? (No Name) Lukand Major? Delta? Anti-Delta? No Misho nothing of that is there. You know quite well to find the important stuff you need to have the books. On WEB you find something of the real stuff by Longin Bartnik and some inspired from that by Waldemar Galek and Longin Bartnik. All on Brydz server and all in polish language. In english language on WEB the sources are scarce. You find a personal interpretation of Regres called Regression by Marcel den Broederer and Regres, Bez Nazwy and Lambda on my WEB-sites. Recently Dan Neill have succeeded to produce a translation of Longin Bartnik's system 'SuperLambda'. From that I expect to be able to adopt the missing features for Suspensor. In the autumn I plan to produce files for 'Lukand Major.' The WEB-site you refer to is mainly a reprint of the rubbish artcile fighting the regulators from 1975. That was the days of freedom movements all over in Eastern Europe and the beginning of the Solidarnosc area in Poland. Simply expressing the longin for westernized freedom of speech. I dont know how much knowledge bulgarians had of that kind of struggle - it was the days I was active in Amnesty Internationals campaigns for freedom behind the iron curtain. I remember several letters by me for Zhivkov on behalf of innocent bulgarian freedom fighters. -

A strong-club system for beginners?
csdenmark replied to helene_t's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
And by that time they are no longer beginners - and therefore no longer a topic for this thread. The course is in Holland - in dutch language. Literature must be in dutch. In general - bridgeplayers don't read much - they try instead to practice. From there the SAYC players are coming. -

A strong-club system for beginners?
csdenmark replied to helene_t's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
Sorry Gerben - I have never heard of 'Biedermeijer Groen'. I really thought Dutch Acol was the national system like acol is in Denmark and UK. At the bottom line we agree - if beginners to bridge - no specific system. If beginners to artificial system but experienced in bridge, then precision will be just fine. The Wei book "Simplified Precision Bridge' by C.C.Wei. Devyn Press, Kentucky is just perfect to start up strong club converting from standard classic. More history in the Cinderella Team book and a simple standard approach in Goren/Wei. -
Yes John - very simple to create such a waiting room. The simple solution is to create a public club named 'Tourney waiting' or such. Nothing else. And Fred will do so in minutes. My table description is now: Beznazwy, Lambda, Regres, Moscito, Quadri Italia, Leghorn Diamond, Roman Club, Precision, Meckwell, Hamway, Blue Team, Polish Club, KS. ----------------------------------------------- I don’t play SAYC,2o1,ACOL etc. WEB: http://csdenmark.n2v.net ------------------------------------------ Table jumping, incl. sucked to tourney, will be reported for misconduct. Don’t sit if you have less than 1 hour. All serious players welcome. Sad to say - I have already reported the first ones. A few more I ought to report for sucked to tourney - but I wait a bit processing that.

I think you are too restrictive Dan. You risk to need to stop due to similar reasons that Todd faced with his fishes. I think that will be pity. Maybe tournies of that kind is a good way to promote interesting bridge - then it will really be pity. Maybe another topic for you to consider - many asians like to play that kind of systems. I have within last 14 days found 2 indian partners for Lambda. So please take time for your tourney's into consideration so that those interested also will have a chance to attend at their local prime-time.

A strong-club system for beginners?
csdenmark replied to helene_t's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
Helene - in Denmark the Danish Bridge Federation has created a series of texts and exercises for beginners. 4 books as I remember. I am sure the Dutch Bridge Federation has something similar. After that I am sure Goren's exceptional good books for years will be a good source for your students. The Kaplan-Sheinwold approach will be good too - not so far away from Dutch Acol - which system I am sure your students expect to be able to master in a decent way as soon as possible. Club systems or other artificial systems are very good systems - but not for people who need to understand the values and ways to find fit - to be able to count to 8 and see the features in that perspective. I agree with Richard in most - but go for Dutch Acol. Else your course in Holland will fail! -

Fair and and completely acc. to rules. http://sc.groups.msn.com/themes/R9c/pby/img/emoticons/emhug.gifhttp://sc.groups.msn.com/themes/R9c/pby/img/emoticons/emhug2.gif To me it looks like this will be a 'must'. If your proposal is going to be implemented we all will clap in our hands I think!

Half a year with Tournament set-up. What's the record? I think nobody from the beginning would be able to imagine the big number of tournaments to come. 10 pairs a day and 20-30 teams. A very large number. Tournaments are in bridge normally assumed synonoumus with serious bridge. We now have the experience that tournaments, at least in online bridge, is more like an alternative set-up than guaranteeing seriousity. Therefore it is right to say time now has come no longer to tolerate the damage tournaments causes for non-participiants. - table crashes due to sucking into tourneys of players and substitutes - no stability in scoring due to constant need for clearing scores - constantly newcomers with the need to apply to new partners and languages - less stability due to tourney-players sometimes think MBC is just a childrengarden they are allowed to jump into when they have nothing else to do The message from Uday is that simple: Time has come to apply to same standards for all - regardless of set-up.
