You cannot be serious Luis. Those with '+++' no change at all. If Roland have problems with many private messages I understand as he has become central not only in the event in focus but also for info about schedule. And Roland is one of those persons with good knowledge of systems and he is providing that kind of info very often to explain strange sequences. I think some more informative text than just '+++' on ID's of those who will be willing to accept messages will be appropriate. Fx a text like 'Comments welcome'. -
I tend to agree with Helene. I dont like the restrictions either but in fact I think we are just talking about 2 games with the same name: Bridge. On BBO we don't have such restrictions. So what is the problem. All have the option to choose partners and opps. according to preferences. I think much of the problems are those of us who are proponents of the specialized systems do nothing real to play with and against each other but mostly play opps. to people who prefer not to deal with such. We dont want to accept their complaints for our methods are unfair to those who dont know them and prefer to stay in that way. I tell you I have no problems to play opps. to Moscito with transfer openings once in a while. But if I had to do so often - I would avoid those people. ---------------------------------------- I have received a message from Michal Rosa. He is moving his residence at the moment therefore it will take a little time until we can have the Balicki/Zmudzinski convention card. ---------------------------------------- Misho gave me an impulse to look into info about the scandinavian approach to pass systems. Flodquist have now improved his web-sites very much. For those who can understand the swedish language here: http://w1.836.telia.com/~u83607584/carrot/carrotti.html Regarding danes Lars Blakset informs they mostly played Regres. I know Peter Koch Larsen was one of those. The Aarhus pair Johs. Hulgaard-Steen Schou played a swedish relay system called "Little Säffle Spade". Info about that in "Modern Bridge" 1982 by P. Svinhufvud.

I dont understand what you mean by 3k1. But generally Suspensor is very much alike Bez Nazwy. Look into that.

You are informed here Rado - by Uday! http://bridgebase.lunarpages.com/~bridge2/...iew=getlastpost -
Marcel has been very helpful providing me this link: http://groups.google.nl/groups?q=suspensor...d.net.au&rnum=1 I have contacted Michal Rosa, Australia and hope soon to have the convention card.
-
No but much more fun to play. Maybe because they are unusual. Due to the 8-12 openings, they technically have some kind of superior to standard openings. But if you have a decent defense system - such really doesnt matter. Balicki/Zmudzinski I am informed. Nobody seems to have their convention card for such - so ????? In Bermuda Bowl and top tourney's nearly everything is allowed - also strong pass systems. In Cavendish Fred has informed of strong system regulations - so I think not there. Never again I think - but I never give up hope! ------------------------------------------------- TEST them yourself. At least Lambda is that simple so all can participate. http://groups.msn.com/bridgeFILES/pass.msnw http://groups.msn.com/bridgeFILES/beznazwy.msnw http://groups.msn.com/bridgeFILES/lambda.msnw http://groups.msn.com/bridgeFILES/moscito.msnw http://groups.msn.com/bridgeFILES/regres.msnw

Here I think you are right. As I remember I have once discussed that with Uday. I think - but not quite sure - creating a pair tourney for 8 entries and 2 rounds will be exactly the same as a team match in 2 sections.
-
Correct. As far as I understand thats exactly what teaching mode of tables are for. You upload the hands - discuss - replay - discuss alternatives. But as I understand tournaments - the set-up is for somebody to compete with others testing their skills - maybe they have learned by a teaching table. The tourney itself is no teaching table - I think the logic can be in no other way. If people constantly try to twist the objectives of features it will be completely impossible to handle for normal players. I think it would be of importance for the users of features to focus.
-
Please explain the point in tournament set-up if you want to have a teaching session. I have very hard problems to understand the logic.
-
Advertice yourself Luis - in lobby or your friends! Voila - simple it is. You will of course also be welcome to respond to my adverticings Luis. I play with all interested in the systems I advertice for. Register a team for the polish team tourney or Rays Bridge Ladder - and you will have no more problems with team matches. - No software modifications needed for that!
-
I dont ask for changes - I ask for no changes. Several people have many times passionated advocated your opinion and if they can handle to play singletons within a reasonable time - I dont care. The point is the opposite - they cannot!
-
Serious or just lazy?
-
Please don't take away autoplay of singletons. One of the most important features we have. If you are going to make changes make autoplay as default - will be helpful to all.
-
In first 2 cases you have no other choice than the relay suit 2♦ for a minor signoff. I think 1+2 a little white lie would be correct bidding 1NT(6-11,bal) instead of the relay suit. Then you will probably have pass. 1NT or 2 ♥ not much of a difference. Case 3 you pass or raise for preempt but not the relay. I doubt you with this combined strength will reach 2 rounds without interference and then you will have an option for a pass.

Yes Ben - censorship is nothing about abolishing editorial rights and duties. It is the right not to be handicapped by arbitrarial solutions. This means you have the rights to set up the policy and the duty to see to that the policy is the guideline for rulings. Lets take this as an example. You have the rights to delete all threads and postings in a wrong section but you have no right deleting only those you dont like yourself. I have the impression you try to be helpful and switch threads into the right section. So would be your duty here too. You cannot claim rights to delete only this thread according to posted in a wrong section. You certainly need to rule quick as possible and not after 250 postings. I think I have heard something about some people who have tried to intermidate the thread. Here you have special duties guarding the rights of people lawfully to pursue their objectives. Your duty is in such cases to intervene for penalizing those people undermining others rights. Your personal preferences are of no relevance but if you have to guard rights you distaste yourself it will be wise to guard those rights very carefully to avoid misunderstandings.

Thank you Fred - very informative. My best wishes for a strong wind to back you and Brad up. I will see what I will be able to do send you some of our strong and steady wind - even it here has a tendency mostly to come from the front. :) http://sc.groups.msn.com/themes/R9c/pby/img/emoticons/emhug.gif Good luck Fred! http://sc.groups.msn.com/themes/R9c/pby/img/emoticons/emhug2.gif

YES it is Erkson. A lot of people don't know and don't understand the basic of our societies. Atrocities of all kinds you therefore see everywhere. In matters of principles - please be serious and serious only!
-
I wonder why so many play with different partners in a big event. That cannot be a good way I think. Is Cavendish a low priority event? Why does Jeff Meckstroth and Eric Rodwell play with other partners? I would like to see representatives for interesting systems like: Balicki/Zmudzinski(Polish Club) Rubin/Ekeblad(Hamway) Hampson/Greco(Meckwell) to be on top.

OK, consider delaying zip-off to tournaments until the end of the hand (or being dummy.) It's not like the first few seconds of a tournament are that productive Edmund I agree with Gerardo - your solution will be in accordance to the rules. They will still not be welcome at my tables as they don't intend to play bridge with me but somebody else. what with all the TD's screaming at the top of their keyboards Be sure - they will need to find new ways themselves. Maybe a childrengarden like 'Casual Bridge' will be the spot. But I see no easy way when people leave BBO To be reported for serious violating the rules. I do so. just to be put in tourney table when coming back What to do coming back is of no concern to the rules I think.
-
NO Ben - now you seems on your way down the line again. - I dont ask for silly questions to be deleted! - I dont ask for wrong or silly answers to be deleted! - I dont ask for topics only of interest for a few to be deleted! - I dont ask for postings in languages I dont understand to be deleted! If I did so I would be very happy to receive the decline: NO - freedom of speech! You may imagine how much left of the BBO Forum Database if my guidelines for stuff of relevance was to apply to. - Thank Heaven they are not to apply to. Nobody's guidelines to apply to. That's the basic of free societies. The only problem here is to set up a poll to query whether human rights are to be applied.
-
5 words exactly. - That's the rule for the story.
-
I dont think language problems is a hard problem here. The rules we are discussing are nothing else but standards in all cultures for how to behave. Those violating such have more basic problems and ought to deal with that themselves. I think all young people today have learned english. For those people with hard language problems there are web-sites for bridge play in english, danish, dutch, chinese, spanish and maybe more. The poles with hard problems in english you will normally be able to contact in german or russian. Those romanians, maybe also bulgarians, with hard problems in english you will normally be able to contact in french. For the poles and the italians there are specialized BBO web-sites.

a dirty grand slam because
-
I dont think it will be successfull but easy to test via public club set up as no modifications will be needed. I think no serious players will enter such an area but I also think it is worth giving it a try and discuss on the basis of knowledge. At least then the pressure will be put on the offenders to suggest something. Saying that - you may make the assumption that from that day it will be just disastrous for people who are to be sucked out from a table in MBC. Unacceptable and restricted acc. to BBO rules for decent behavior. Leaving a table in the middle of a game is a major offence acc. to rules. No mercy for the rude people will be the message.
-
You have something for your assumption Bearmum. In rules for these sites english is stated as a default language which all ought to be able handle - not perfectly - but in a basic way at least. As I remember right now english is expressed as an official BBO language. I really dont understand your problem. Like Ron I also try to be able to understand basic of bridgeterms people from faraway countries uses. It is fun - you simply start by guessing and ask your friends whether you will be right. Soon you will be better guessing. A nice climate on table normally will be a sure and positive result and you will be wiser. Not all kind of communication you need to understand. How about these: All 26 cards for your disposal - No surprises I hope - Best wishes! - Hao yun qi! All for you - As expected I hope - Best wishes for you! – Buona fortuna! S'il vous plait! Værsgo! Here you are! Bitte sehr! - Good luck partner! All my values for your disposal - No surprises I hope - Good luck partner – veel plezir! – Buena suerte! Uspeh! – Viel Glück! - Bonne chance! – Bol sans! - Good luck partner! Thank You Partner! - Mange tak! – Xie xie ni – dekha jak! Thank You Partner! - Merci bien – Blagodaria – Dankje! Thank You Partner! - Danke schön - teşekkür ederim - Dziekuja! Thank You Partner! – Muchas gracias! – Molti ringraziamenti - Köszönöm!
