About BBO trnslation project

Фирма МС-АУТОРЕНТ предлага автомобили под наем (рент а кар) за бизнес цели, сватби, делегации, туризъм, трансфери при следните изгодни за клиента условия: You see Misho here it works - but this is only displayed as ???????? on my PC at the BBO client. But I think they can as Fred once told me they have enabled such. Here below you see some chinese signs - but also here BBO dont display. I dont remember how I once was able to produce the chinese signs on BBO - but they can for sure. 设计维护 -

I dont think so Misho. At least BBO supports chinese signs/letters. Those I have enabled on my PC and they are displayed on BBO too. There have been Vugraph sessions in chinese language. I think you will be right assuming the BBO client supports all the languages you have installed. -

I certainly agree Fred. This was exactly what my comments regarding implementation of filters was about. The glorious perspectives for multi national and multi lingual are not to come. Anyhow I am sad as I love the international get together here. I very much hope that some of the perspectives for national federations will be an option for members also to participate in the multinational activities - not only passive as Vugraph. On the other hand when I occasionally looks into the danish section of Swan Bridge it looks like it is no runner for Danmarks Bridge Forbund. I dont know but I assume they are a bit disappointed as they in Denmark regarded national online bridge as the future. I know they have worked trying to establish something on scandinavian basis which intensions seems to have failed. I still think it will be worth trying to ease the language problems in the multinational area. -

I assume this text is written in a way suitable for aut. translation. http://www.altavista.com/help/free/mtwain_story Try and auto-translate this text into 10 different languages and store the translated texts in your word processor. Now you decide to modify the text with this english one: "I want this text to be inserted". This text you must not auto translate. You must find individuals to translate the text into all the languages you have chosen and then you can insert the text in each one of your stored texts. If you can handle this - I think you have something for your rejection - else not! -

I know many have fun trying to degrade the value of aut. translations. They are not mine and I certainly have no stocks in any of those company's - pity. I use them to read texts in foreign languages translated into english. From that I translate into danish. I have no really problem with that. So I also do the other way and the info is normally understood with no problems. So if you have hard problems - you simply have bad will! The translation tools are for commercial use and they therefore have some good values. They have come to stay and will certainly be improved over time. You may have noticed Google now also have adopted this kind of activities. From the beginning a lot of new sites to be translated into a lot of languages can be produced. Thats not the problem. The problems arise as soon you of some reason need to modify a page. Then it is no longer 1 page to be modified - but 10-20-30 in languages you cannot handle yourself. -

I only mentioned this as an example of the easyness to take advantage from standard tools free available to all on internet. What I mean here is fx. stating time as: Time is fixed on Wednesday, 26 May 2004 3:00:00 PM Paris time Aut. translation John Goold will be able to put in for help files tomorrow and those important sites will be available in 10+ languages at once. So simple is translation of BBO help sites: Dutch language German language French language Italian language -

My vote will also be it is not worth the effort. I think the problem is not that big as people with no basic english skills simply choses specialized playing sites and there are several of those already. My vote will be to change in a way that the commercial translation tools on WEB will be good regarding BBO information too. This means move general info from the client into WEB-sites. This also means in those sites write bridge as 'bridge' to avoid translation of the word as it will be wrong translated etc. In no way you will ever be able to handle the 52 different indian languages. In this Forum and on help sites you simply ad the clickable icon for translation from this site http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr . Last month 3 new languages was added: Greece, dutch and an additional chinese. You may test it clicking this link: http://www.altavista.com/help/free/mtwain_story We have had much improvement in Vugraph schedule in the simple way that time is no longer stated as GMT which we no longer use. Time is now always stated as CET and EST. An improvement here is still possible by let the time be a clickable link to fixed time for world clock. Thinking in this way will do the job I think. -
I think I have something of the same feeling like xx1943 - occasionally. Even I quite well know Free and Wayne are right both - I have problems to provide a deliberately lie. Such is much more easy for partner to do - partner knows nothing about the lie - and he therefore dont lies. Fx. opening 1♦ in pass systems I alert and explain as:0-7any or 0-9noMAJOR. Holding this Jxxx Jxxx KJx QJ but in fact I have 2 majors and ought to open 1♣ as 8-12, semi-balanced. In such cases, not so rare with pass systems, I prefer partner to do the 'dirty work.'
-
The rules as I read them looks silly. For Precision(BG) I read the rules in this way: 1♣ open to be alerted and explained. All continuations to be alerted but not explained. 1♦♥♠ open not to be alerted 1NT open to be alerted and explained. Transfers to be alerted and explained. Stayman nothing. All other openings and successive continuations to be alerted but not explained. Voila nearly every bid to be alerted. Who will be satisfied or confused is not for me to decide but at least I hope in future to avoid complaints for failure not to apply to correct standards. I intend to use this announcement: ALERT! We play PRECISION CLUB. Convention card is up and alerts to be made acc. to this: http://groups.msn.com/bridgeFILES/alert.msnw Welcome and good luck!

Ben it will never be censorship acting according to the rules known by all. Unless of course the rules are made so specialized that it will have the same effect as an arbitrarian ruling. Censorship is only about arbitrarian decisions. You will have no problems for these kind of decisions you mention here.
-
Looks to me like the alert rules are something like this: ALERT + explain: - Range of 1NT open - Forcing/Non-forcing 1NT-response to suit openings - Transfers - 1♣♦ openings if based on less than 3 cards ALERT but no explanation until queried: - Any artificial openings + all continuations - All conventions except simple stayman(2♣ asking 4cd major) - Doubles if any doubt of meaning might be possible - Pass if showing values instead of weakness NO ALERT: - 2♣ strong SAYC open + 2♦ response - Natural suit openings in range 10-21 - 4NT Blackwood/RKCB - CUE except of opening - Simple Stayman convention, also as steps after overcall
-
Marc Gerard and I talk about the same - we were partners. 1♥♠/2♣♦ has all same meaning in Precision as response to 1♣ open: 5+cd,8+HcP,game force. I normally try to provide decent information. I load convention card and alert these for Precision: 1♣ = 16+,any 1NT = 13-15 2♣=11-15, good 6cd or 5+cd + a SUIT 2♦=11-15, 3415, 4305, 4414, D=short 2♥♠=8-10HcP, good 6-carder 3♣=9-13, good 6-7cd, stop outside 3♦=9-12, 7+cd solid, any suit 3♥♠=6-7 tricks 4♣♦=10-14, solid MAJOR(C=H,D=S) The problem was a complaint to a Yellow who accepted the complaint and forwarded it to me. This caused much discussion at the table about the topic incl. a suggestion to have those rules, I see them as horrible, incorporated in "Rules for these sites". If so - then it will in future be a topic to be reported for misconduct to Uday with sanctions. Can we live with such?
-
The special case here was a normal response in precision. 1♣ open - alerted as 16+,any 2♣ response - not alerted. 5+cd,8+HcP,game force. The 2♣ bid was the complaint. Wayne provided the complaint and a very confusing talk at the table, for me it was confusing as I did not know, showed that all bids was alert requering. Standard 1♦ openings, standard 5cd major etc. Only pass if it means nothing at all was free. I dont think this is right even it may be correct international rules. I think if this is international rules - we will not be able to play online bridge and apply to international standard.

Chat to table restricted - why?
csdenmark replied to csdenmark's topic in Suggestions for the Software
Thank you Uday - I am sorry I dont think I understand your reply. Does this mean that the server was protecting a player at the table from abuses? or Does this mean the server surveys me and I am generally unable to communicate? or Does this mean the server is protecting me from abuses? or Does this mean something else - maybe something I dont need to care about? -
Today I have had a complaint for failing not to alert properly. I dont like such compliants - especially as it seems the complaint is correct according to ACBL rulings. Right now I am not quite sure what the rules really are but the discussions this caused shows that nearly all bids are alert requering. Roland was very helpful to provide this link: http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/acbl_alt.htm I have not studied yet but I am told what I can expect to find there. Can we live with rules stating something like all bids meaning something are alert requering and must be explained too. I understand that are the rules for professionals and that the top players are receiving a lot of penalties for breaking those rules. But what are the rules we can live with here on BBO?

Today I resigned from table. I was still table host but no longer able to chat to table. I received a blue message that chat to table was not allowed. How to disable that feature? Help please!

Strong club:Opener's TABs and jump raises
csdenmark replied to Chamaco's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
In Belladonna/Garozzo(standard and super precision) you bid in both cases 1NT asking for controls. -Hand 1 you may bid 3♠ for trump asking -Hand 2 you may bid 2♠ for slam investigations. In Viking you bid 1NT as game force relay for clarification. In Power Precision you bid 1NT asking for controls with no long suit of your own. In Meckwell 1♠ is a transfer meaning 5+cd♥. - Hand 1 you bid 1NT asking for controls - Hand 2 is to be opened 2NT as the range there is 19-21. Meckwell is here similar to Keylime Precision and Currified Precision. -
You intend to create more of the same or something different perhaps?

To respect others rights must be the basic in decent human behavior. The law about this is "Rules for these sites" which all needs to apply to. All have the rights to enjoy the offer obeying the law or simply to stay away if they dont like the rules. Leaving a table in the middle of a game is a violation of others rights and therefore also a violation of "Rules for these sites". You mention a household with 2 persons and 1 banned only and then the other one is aut. disabled. To this only my comment - be sure you obey the rules else your partner will suffer too. Do I need to confirm I strongly support the efforts by BBO for creating a good atmosphere respecting the rights of others.

Please note it is the responsibility for all posters here to try to post in correct sections. Failing to do so posts are likely to be subject for removal acc. to the rules as I right now remember Ben has informed. The section for OFF LINE bridge is this: Offline Bridge Tournaments, etiquette, and general discussion about playing live bridge. Forum Led by: inquiry This is second time you express you feel embarrased of my postings. From that I assume you are still reading them!

Thats not the point Ron. The point is all that discussing what you cannot do in organizations not relevant here are blocking the discussion of what and how to do something here to promote.
-
It is simply too silly sitting to wait declarer to be able to decide from dummy when the singleton is only option. I have never lost a trick in the 4-5 years now I have used that feature. But often I have been upset of people who try to manage in a decent way without. They cannot - online play is rather demanding if you are not physically on top.
-
I try to avoid to be rude and you are of course like anybody else welcome to express your views. But I see no point in making a lot of comments to obsolete persons in this thread and others too. I am not affected of regulators - not at all. Nobody else here on WEB is. My statement was not especially for you Bearmum - and offence of course not intended. Regulations in Australia I dont know and they dont affect me. Regulations by ACBL I dont know and they dont affect me. Regulations by Danmarks Bridge Forbund I know a little of, probably like anywhere else - and they dont affect me either. What people do outside WEB regarding bridge or anything else - fine with that. But regulations are acc. to my views not relevant to discuss here. We can do nothing about it except to ignore. Disobedience is allowed here - and I think much more fun to do what you like to do instead of discussing what you cannot do - elsewhere.
-
Please tell me why you are paying so much attention to regulators outside the WEB. They don't read the postings here on WEB. On WEB we don't have regulations.
