  1. While 2N is possibly an overbid (borderline for me) North has an easy 3N over 2N. Looking for a slam in clubs when 4 keycards in partner's hand may not be enough doesnt look good to me.
  2. Since I have already misbid twice maybe if I do it again I will be 3rd time lucky?
  3. What Rainer said. I would be furious if my partner signed off holding 2KC and the queen on this auction.
  4. I would have doubled as South in the first round but would still be -470. Edit: Just reailized N is in front of the 1S bidder. I am still passing but its closer.
  5. X. I would correct 2♦ to 2♠, raise 2♥ to 3 and 2♠ to 4.
  6. It looks like automatic double for me, if forced to do something else I would probably pass.
  7. For me 2♥ would be natural F1 3♥ - long hearts too weak for 2/1 forcing response 4♥ to play.
  8. I agree that pass is best, but I would much rather bid 1N than 1♠ or 1♦
  9. 3N or 4♥ could be right, not bidding game would never occur to me.
  10. I would lead a spade. It looks like any lead might pick up partner's queen or jack, if he has 1, so my best hope is to lead my longest suit and try to establish some tricks.
  11. I play that 3♣ forces 3♦ and after that all bids to the 3 level are NF. Possibly playing transfers at the 3 level is superior, but I have never tried.
  12. If 1NT would be natural last round, I would have bid 1NT. If not I will talk to partner about changing our agreement.
  13. I would just bid 4♥. Even if partner has a great hand like xx A109xxxx Kxx x we still need to find the diamond queen.
  14. If partner raised to 6 I would expect to make. Our hand is huge in context, stiff heart, 8 card suit, an Ace and a useful card in partner's suit.
  15. I would open 1♣ before I open 2♦.
  16. The problem is that partner will likely double holding any hand with short ♠ ending in a 4-3 fit quite often.
  17. I don't like passing with the North cards one bit. If partner doubles for takeout and we pass, I guess quite often they will be 1 down and 4♥ would be on, partner has shortness opposite our Jxxxx. If N passed not planning to defend 1♠X North will be stuck to find a bid after partner reopens. 1N is un underbid and 3♥ is ridiculous when partner often has 3. So holding 4♥s and a reasonable hand I think it is obvious for North to double at the first turn.
  18. Well when partner has made a penalty pass and they raise it will be great if he can double for penalties. If We had a spade void instead of the Ace I bet everyone would pass in a flash. So if we were to agree that double here is takeout for the minors, this means that we give up the ability to punish them when they raise.
  19. I strongly agree with the initial pass. Vul vs Not your actions against weak NT should be very sound. I lead a diamond, second choice is spade.
  20. 1) Whether you open a weak 2 or not depends on your style. With 1 partner we regularly open weak 2s with 5+cards but we have the methods to find out if partner has 5 or 6 cards, shortness etc. Playing with anyone else I would pass in a flash. 3) 3♣ is really poor IMO, you have the spades so its unlikely you want to defend. And if they play in hearts, you want a diamond lead not ♣
